It was the dead of night in the Archipelago. On the docks of an island, hunters were wide awake and so were the caged dragons. The hunters kept watch on the dock above while below deck, hunters kept watch on the multiple dragons they had captured on their ship. All the caged dragons all snarled and growled, wanting to be free. "Hey, quiet in there, you pests.." One hunter snarled at a orange and blue Deadly Nadder.
The Nadder growled at him and he walked away.
Back up on the upper deck, some of the hunters were keeping watch for any Dragon Rider who were try and raid them and free the dragons. They kept looking at the sky... not noticing something sneakily moving towards them from the side. The creature was cloaked so it couldn't be seen by the hunters. The creature spread its wings and silently flew onto the deck and delivered a plasma blast onto the deck, sending some of the hunters into the water. "What-?! Raid!" one hunter cried. The other hunters from below deck came up to battle, giving a hooded figure who was hiding in the dark the chance to sneak in below deck.
The hooded figure came to the cage that held the Deadly Nadder, who hissed at the figure. "Shh..." the figure said in a soft voice. "I'm here to help you.." The figure unlocked the cage, surprising the Nadder before it saw her go over and open the other cages freeing the other dragons which consisted of Monstrous Nightmares, Gronckles and Hideous Zipplebacks. All in all there were about twenty dragons and the figure freed them all.
"Perfect.." the figure said to herself as the dragons flew out of the lower deck and into the sky.
Until...
"Hey..! What are you doing?" The figure gasped and turned around to greeted by a hunter. "Oh... uh... hi..."
The hunter growled before it was struck from behind by a lava blast. The figure heard a roar too, "Thanks bud.." she said before mounting her cloaked friend, "Now let's get out of here.." Her friend agreed and the two of them flew away from the hunters' ship which was now burning up and sinking.
The figure looked back and the destroyed ship and smiled, "We did good tonight, Shadow." The figure said to her friend and it uncloaked himself to revealed and blue and red bipedal dragon!
The dragon cooed with a smile before the figure and her dragon heard some more coos. "Huh?" The dragon stopped and turned around and the two saw the pack of dragons that they freed following them..!
"What are you all doing? Go on, you're free.." the figure ushered the dragons. But the dragon pack shook their heads. The dragon warbled at its rider, "Guess you wanna come with us huh?" the figure asked the dragon pack, earning nods from them all.
"Alright then... guess we have some more dragons to add to our nest, Shadow..." The dragon cooed and the other dragons followed the two into the night.
Soon, they arrived on a very large island. The island consisted of multiple forests homed to different dragons species. The island also had two large waterfalls that fed lakes and rivers too as well as some rocky outcrops to views of the whole island. Even though the island was large, it was secret. No one and I mean no one, not even the hunters or trappers new this island existed. Reason being... it was outside of the Archipelago!
Flying over the island, the figure and her dragon lead the dragon pack of twenty towards one of the large waterfalls that concealed a cave behind it!
"Come on this way..." the figure told the dragon pack. They followed her into the mouth of the cave where two red yellow and black, snake-like dragons laid but were awaken hearing their savior. The dragons rose up and looked at them. The dragon pack freaked but, "It's okay, It's okay.." the figure soothed. "They're friends.."
The dragons gave a small hiss and a bow before the figure and her dragon flew passed them, "Come on.. its alright. They only bite intruders." The dragons pack looked at each other but they trusted their savior and they followed them into the cave and through the large tunnel system until they entered a very large area with many kinds of plants growing all around. The sun was shining brightly through the treetops and many, many, many dragons were flying all around this place; Nadders, Monstrous Nightmares, Gronckles, Zipplebacks, Raincutters, Armorwings, Skirlls, Fireworms, Flightmares, Triple Styrkes, Hobblegrunts, Stormcutters, Scuttleclaws, Death Songs, Slitherwings, Changewings, Singetails, even Whispering Deaths and a Screaming Death, you name it, the Sanctuary had them all..!
Probably hundreds or even thousands! The dragon pack was in awe.
It was a Dragon Sanctuary!
The Sanctuary has lots of different areas; the Egg Garden, the Shedding Area, where the dragons would shed their skin, an area for the dragons to do their business, a feeding area, consisting of a large lake with multiple fish coming in and out due to the river that fed the lake and other areas.
"Ahh... its good to be home..." the figure said removing her cloaked hood to reveal a light skinned girl with long black hair and crystal blue eyes.
When they landed, the figure and the dragons were greeted by the other dragons and nuzzled the figure, happy for her safe return along with welcoming the dragon pack. The figure dismounted her dragon friend, "Make yourselves at home you guys.." she told the rescued dragon pack.
Then she and her dragon friend went over to the egg garden; where dragons eggs were laid and baby dragons were playing with each other.
Overlooking the eggs and the babies were four large stone dragons. Sentinels. Powerful dragons that could deflect any opponents attack.
Seeing the girl, the baby dragons cooed and came over to her. The girl laughed and bent down and rubbed all the baby dragons, "Hey there little ones.." she cooed. The baby dragons cooed happily at her. The girl and her dragon then went over to where they dragon eggs were laid. They were all in separate but larges nests each for a different dragon species; Nadders, Monstrous Nightmares, Gronckles, Zipplebacks, Raincutters, Hobblegrunts, Stormcutters, Scuttleclaws, Changewings, Singetails, and the list goes on.
The girl examined the eggs and felt them. "Still warm, that's good." she said with a smile, knowing the eggs were healthy. Her dragons went over a a nest that were various colors dark blue, red and yellow, all were oval-shaped, with scale pattern similar to the adult. And the eggs had black stripes coming from left to right. The girl came over, "I know boy... you can't wait for them to hatch... then they'll be more dragons like you..."
Her dragon friend cooed and nuzzled the eggs, yearning for the day they were hatch. One of the Sentinel dragons flew down and landed near Shadow and warbled at him. The Sentinel nuzzled Shadow and Shadow cooed.
The girl then went over to a very special nest. This nest held white and black eggs with a small rough texture on them. These eggs were very, very special. These eggs belonged to the Night Fury and Light Fury. Two closely related species of dragons and both very very rare. The girl had rescued these eggs from trappers a few weeks ago and the eggs were in great condition. The eggs were of the two separate species. She hoped that this would help bring the population of Night and Light Furies back to what it was before.
Then three little hatchlings came over to her. They looked like Night Furies but two of them had white patches on their tails and ears while one was completely white with black shading on her tail and ears with green eyes. They all chirped at her and the girl chuckled. "Hi Dart, Ruffrunner and Pouncer?"
Then the trio's parents appeared.
A Male Night Fury and a female Light fury... probably the last of their kinds. "You're doing a great job raising them..." the girl praised the parents. The Night Fury cooed and nuzzled her and the girl chuckled.
The three hatchlings chirped at her before Ruffrunner let out a yawn. "Hehe, come on you, you can't fall asleep all the time." the girls teased before she herself let out a yawn, "I, on the other hand, have to go to bed. Come on Shadow, let's get some rest. We both had a long day..."
Her dragon friend agreed and the two went over to her living space, which was a small hut that she build using some of the trees around the place. The hut wasn't anything special. Just a small house that only had a makeshift bed that was made from shed dragon skin. The girl removed her cloak, showing that she was wearing a shirt and pants made from dragon skin, making it tough, light and fireproof. She had shoulder pads in the armor an some knee pads as well. The set was completed with some maroon colored boots made from shed Zippleback skin. She removed her boots and she climbed into bed while her dragon friend curled up beside the bed. "Good night, Shadow.." the girl said to her best dragon friend.
Her dragon friend cooed and fell asleep as the sounds of her happy Sanctuary echoed through the cave.
The next morning, on the Isle of Berk, seven teenagers were inside the Great Hall together.
One was a teenager girl with blonde hair with a large braid behind her. She had metal shoulder pads and a faded blue top. Her skirt was baroque in spikes, held up with a skull emblazoned belt. She had blue eyes. Next to her was a Blue Deadly Nadder.
A teenage boy wore was wearing a green shirt underneath a brown jacket. Next to him was a Night Fury dragon.
Another teenage boy wearing a viking helmet, a green shirt and a black jacket above it. He wore brown pants and he wore boots. Next to him was a red Monstrous Nightmare.
There were two twins with a green Zippleback they both had long blonde hair.
There was another boy rather large wearing a brown shirt and pants. He wore boots and by his side was a Gronckle and currently he was gawking at the dragons. And finally there was another girl who had long black hair that was in a ponytail and she who had an eye patch over her right eye and she also had a Night Fury dragon as well. A female.
They were with the Chief of their village, Stoick, the Vast along with the girls' parents.
"Alright Hiccup, Henna, Edgar, everyone, anything new?" Stoick asked.
"Last night another hunters ship was raider by the rouge dragon rider, dad." Hiccup told his father. "The rider freed about twenty dragons but they disappeared."
"Hmmm..." Stoick said.
"They said they don't even know what kind of dragon this rider uses, because its like its invisible.." the chubby viking said.
"Right Fishlegs." Hiccup said. "Meaning, this rider and his or her dragon are very secretive and sneaky."
"But if they're rescuing dragons, they can't be all that bad.." the girl pointed out.
"Astrid has a point, Hiccup." the girl with the eyepatch stated.
"Thank you Zenna.." Hiccup replied.
"So.. what do we do?" Zenna's mother, Henna Fiersome, asked Stoick.
"We have to find this rogue dragon rider.." Stoick said.
"But Chief, we don't even know where she goes after he saves the dragons..." Edgar Fiersome, Zenna's father, reminded everyone.
"Well... if we find where a hunters ship is then we find the rouge dragon rider. Then we follow her to where she keeps all of the dragons shes' rescued.." Hiccup planned out.
"A-Are you sure following her is such a good idea?" Astrid questioned. "What if has some defenses against intruders?"
The boy with the Monstrous Nightmare scoffed, "Please, what could possible take down me! Snotlout Jorgenson!" Zenna bonked the boy on the head with her battles sticks that used to belong to her brother, Elias, before he died in a dragon raid seven years ago. "OW! Hey!" he grumbled.
"That seems to be our only option, son." Stoick replied. "Alright, we'll go with your plan, Hiccup. Let's hope it works out.." Everyone nodded in agreement.
Back at the Dragon Sanctuary...
The girl and her dragon both woke up and yawned together. The girl heard a little warble and saw a purple Scuttleclaw, a little dragon that was 18 feet long with a 20 foot wingspan. It looked like a cross between a Zippleback and a Deadly Nadder due to the Zippleback-like lobs along its back and the Nadder-based structure. The little Scuttleclaw had two large fish in his mouth and he flapped his wings and placed it in the girls' lap and in front of Shadow. "Heheh... thanks, Violet." the girl thanked, rubbing the Male Scuttleclaw, making it coo.
The girl and Shadow both ate the fish and exited their living place. "Come on Shadow, let's go see if there are anymore hunters out there..."
Shadow roared and the girl mounted Shadow, "We'll be back everyone...!" she called to the dragons who warbled and cooed back to her and she left her secret Sanctuary and Island and flew into the Archipelago.
After a few hours of flying, Shadow and his rider noticed several hunter ships down below. "Bingo..." the girl said with a smirk. Shadow growled and the two moved in.
Meanwhile, Hiccup, his friends, Edgar, Henna and Stoick were flying on their dragons to find any hunters ships in the waters, "Anything yet?" Hiccup asked.
"Hmm... nothing yet Hicc." Zenna said. But then, "Up ahead, look!" Astrid called and the group saw wild dragons flying away from burning ships along with plasma blasts being unleashed. "That's gotta be the rouge rider, let's go in and follow her..." Stoick ordered everyone and they nodded before moving in.
Rescuing the dragons from the several ships was easy. With Shadow's cloaking ability, he was able to hide himself on the side of the ship before he secretly dropped his rider on it. The girl saw that a hunter left the hatch to the lower deck open, giving her a chance. She quietly sneak around and entered the lower deck. Luckily, there were no hunters guarding the caged dragons. Like before, she unlocked the cages and the dragons flew out of the ship much to the hunters' shock and frustration.
Shadow, meanwhile, snuck himself onto the other two hunters ship without a sound and unleashed a barrage of plasma blasts at them and blasted them into the water. He then blasted the entrance to the lower deck and blasted the cages, freeing the dragons and they all flew away.
The girl mounted Shadow again and they flew off, "Come on, let's get these guys to the Sanctuary..." the girl said as she and her dragon led the flock of dragons to their island.
Hiccup and the others followed close behind the girl and her large flock of rescued dragons. "Where are they going? They're going outside of the Archipelago..?" Astrid asked, confused.
"That must be why no one's been able to find her or the dragons." Hiccup suggested. Then the group saw the large island up ahead. "Woah... look at that island.." Zenna gasped.
"It's huge..!" Henna added, riding her and her husbands maroon and purple spotted Zippleback, Serpent and Serpentine. They followed the girl and her flock through the island until the disappeared behind waterfall. "She must be keeping them behind the waterfall. Let's go..." Hiccup said and the riders flew through the waterfall... only to be greeted by the Slithering guards. They hissed fiercely at them. "Slitherwings! Watch out!" Fishlges exclaimed as the Slitherwings lunged at the group who dodged their attacks.
"What are they doing?!" Snotlout cried.
"They must be guarding this cave.." Edgar growled as he and his wifes' dragon dodged one Slitherwings pounce attack.
"Oh great.." Hiccup grumbled as he and his Night Fury dodged another Slitherwing.
A few minutes earlier...
The girl and her new dragon flock entered the Sancutary and were greeted by the rescued dragons. "Hehe..." the girl chuckled before rubbing the dragons. Suddenly, she heard the familiar roars of the Slitherwing guards. "What the-?" she asked herself.
Shadow and the other dragons growled, "Let's go check it out, Shadow.." the girl said before she mounted her friend and they flew through the cave system followed by several Nadders and Death Song dragons. They came out from the waterfall and found ten people riding dragons being attacked by her Slitherwing guards. "How'd they get here..?" the girl thought. "No matter, I have to protect the dragons..."
Shadow roared and the several Nadders and Death Songs joined the battle. "Oh no..! They've got reinforcements..!" Hiccup cried out in fear. His Night Fury roared as a Nadder fired its magnesium blast, "Toothless, dodge!" His Night Fury friend dodged the blast but they were struck by one of three Death Song's amber, sending them to the ground and trapping them.
"Hiccup!" Zenna cried before she and her dragon suffered the same fate. "GAH!"
"Zenna!" Edgar and Henna gasped before the second Death Song trapped them and their dragon in the amber too!
"Henna! Edgar!" Stoick gasped from his Rumblehorn dragon, Skullcrusher before he was trapped in the amber cocoon as well.
"What are these things!" Fishlegs whimpered.
"Whatever they are, I hate them!" Snotlout exclaimed in anger before his dragon fired at one of the Nadders but, "Shadow, Plasma and Magnesium blast!" Shadow flew in and blasted a plasma blast, countered his dragons' fire and then launching the Magnesium blast, sending Snotlout and his dragon to the ground where the third Death Song trapped them. Fishlegs and Astrid gasped, seeing how a dragon could unleash two different blasts. "A plasma and magnesium blast! That's incredible..!"
"Rescue now, geek out later..!" Astrid exclaimed before she and her Deadly Nadder charged forth but one of the Slitherwings blocked them, spooking his dragon and causing her to fall on the ground, "Astrid..!" Hiccup exclaimed. Astrid got up but one of the Death Songs hissed at her. Fishlegs and Meatlug were forced onto the ground by the Nadders and the other two Death Songs. "Ah, please don't eat me, please don't eat me, please don't eat me...!" Fishlegs whimpered in fear.
Shadow landed on the ground and hissed at the intruders before the girl dismounted him, "Alright you six, back off.." the girls said and the Nadders and Death Songs backed away from the intruders while Shadow and the girls approached them. The girl placed her hood down and stared at them.
"How'd you find this place?" the girl hissed at them.
"Isn't it obvious? We followed you.." Snotlout scoffed.
"Well that was your first mistake..." the girl growled before Shadow roared at them.
"W-We didn't mean any harm to you or the dragons." Hiccup tried to reason. "Honest. We just wanted to figure out where you were keeping all the dragons you rescued."
"Why..?" the girl asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Cause we want to help you." Zenna added. The girl looked at for a moment before she turned away, "Death Songs, release them.." The Death Songs cooed before they each broke the cocoons freeing the riders and their dragons. "As for your offer, I don't need any help.." the girl replied.
"Are you sure about that?" Astrid questioned.
"Yes, I'm sure. I don't need any help... not from other humans..." the girl replied grimly.
"And what does that mean?" Snotlout questioned.
"It means she doesn't trust us, you idiot.." the blonde girl stated.
"Yeah, Snotlout.." her twin brother added.
"Look uh... whoever you are... you can trust us. We love dragons just as much as you do." Hiccup said to the girl, but she was still distant.
"Sorry... I know you want to help.. but... I think it would best... if I stayed away from humans..." the girl replied, shocking everyone.
"Stay away from humans?" Stoick gasped.
"Why?" Edgar asked the girl.
"I can't risk anyone double crossing me and harming all the dragons I've saved and cared for... ever since I rescued them, they've only trusted me and cared for me."
"So...you're like their Queen?" Zenna inquired.
"In a way, yes..." the girl replied. "That's why I can't risk any other human getting too close..." the girl said. The riders and their dragons looked at each other with concern and worry. "I-I think its' best if you all go now..." the girl said sadly before she and her dragons went back towards the waterfall.
Hiccup and the other riders heeded her words and they flew off back to Berk.
