Artemis set in the bathtub thinking about how she met Clint as she rest her head on the tub pillow
~Clint Barton, was in Berlin watching his target apartment, he's waiting for the perfect time to let loose an arrow.
Spotting the prefect time, he ready his bow but before he could, a weapon came and cut the bow string.
Clint growled looking at the weapon seeing a Sai, he gasped turning around only two assassins used that weapon and one of them is inactive.
Standing there was Sparrow with a hand on her hip and wearing a smirk "so you're the one they call Hawkeye, people descriptions don't do you justice" she purred
Clint narrowed his eyes "is there a reason you stopped my kill" he asked
"Yeah, he's my informant, the person who hired you wanted to start anew so he's taking care of his dead weight but using ways that won't track back to him" she informed
Clint growled he hated beaning used like that "so want do you want" he asked
Sparrow walked towards her sai and handing him a flash drive from out of her cleavage "read over that and meet me at the Barn, 3pm tomorrow don't be late" she said picking up her sai then walked away.
Clint watched her then looked at the flash drive in his hand~
Artemis sighed grabbing her whiskey glass "Artemis" Nikko said walking into the bathroom
Artemis looked over at her "yeah Nikko" she said
Nikko set down on the step leading to the tub "Winter Soldier hack my account and set a video to Clinton" she said pouring herself a glass of scotch
Artemis chocked on her drink "what" she coughed putting her glass down
Nikko nodded "yep, basically threaten him" she said taking a drink
Artemis rolled her eyes "so what is the deal with you two" Nikko asked
"Me and who" Artemis asked
"You and Winter Soldier"
Artemis narrowed her eyes "Yinsen, some Nickleback please" she ordered
A second later Lullaby came on and Artemis laid her head back down ignoring Nikko, who groaned leaving the room
Artemis sighed running a hand through her hair, tried of people questioning her about the relationship between her and Winter Soldier.
Artemis and Winter Soldier's relationship was a weird one, it basically was of them agreeing on that you don't try to kill me, I won't try to kill you. But Fury doesn't care since it didn't get in the way of her work since if they do meet they just knock the other out.
There's nothing romantic going on between them, it's just harmless flirting even if they call each other Baby Cakes and Baby Girl.
Artemis got out of the tub a half hour later and headed to the lab after she got dressed.
Sitting at one of the desk was Tony being bugged by Nikko "come on Tony admit it, you looove Pepper" Nikko sung laying on the desk
Tony glared at her "get off my desk" he said pushing the mutant off the desk
Artemis smiled sitting at her desk checking the test results being run on the new cores.
Nikko stood up and laid on Artemis's desk "what about you Arty" she asked
"I'm not in love with Pepper" Artemis smirked then went to ignoring the woman.
Nikko pouted looking between the siblings, who were both looking at the results and running their own tests "you two are boring" she whined
The siblings smirked "what did you do during WW II when everyone was busy" Artemis asked
Nikko smirked "beat up newbies that messed with Lily" she said
"Question, how'd you two becomes friends" Tony asked
"Saved her from HYRDA beginning of WW II" Nikko responded "she was mouthing off to Zola when Maria and I found her"
"So that's where Salt gets it from" Artemis muttered
Nikko snorted "no that's mostly Bucky DNA" she said "come to think of it you and Saltine remind me of Maria and Bucky"
Artemis perked up at that "really"
Nikko nodded "yeah, those two were deadly fighting together" she said then looked at Tony "Tony and Pepper remind me of your parents"
The two raised an eyebrow "what Maria and Howard always flirted with each other before they got together, plus Maria was Howard assistant" Nikko said "come to think of it you have to be badass to handle being a Stark assistant"
The siblings snorted knowing that was true, not many can handle the Stark's nature; Tony went through a few assistants before he found Pepper.
The two went back to looking over the results, well Tony did Artemis went back to the mystery of the Winter Soldier.
Artemis was cleaning up the accelerator when a ring sounded making her looked confused
"Incoming call sir, it seems to be a blocked number", Tony spun around to look at the computer.
"if that's Barton, I snuck out" Artemis said
"Phone privileges were reinstated"
"Hey Coulson, how's the land of enchantment" Tony answered the call
"Hey, Tony what are you doing" Artemis frowned at the voice, Ivan Vanko "You told me I should double the cycle; good advice" Ivan chuckled
"You should pretty sprightly for a dead guy"
"You too", he said chuckling, Tony looked down before he pressed his finger against the screen muting it.
"Trace it" he ordered
JARVIS and Yinsen began tracing the call
The siblings looked at each other "What your father did to my family over forty years I will do to you and your sister in forty minutes"
Artemis pushed the unmute button "you're not the first Russian to threaten me Vanko" she said
"I hope you're ready" he said in a strangely calm voice
He hung up before the trace can be complete, Artemis cursed as Tony looked at the screen where a picture of Hammer was shown "you don't think" she said and Tony nodded
They both stood up and took the new reactors "you want to run some test, this is the biggest one" Tony said as they put the reactors in
The reactors shone brightly "Ugh, that taste like coconut" Tony said "and metal" Artemis finished
The two flew towards the Expo "I'm not getting ahold of anyone" Artemis said getting Jasmine's voicemail
Tony cussed "hey maybe Jasmine is on a hot date" he said
"No, she said she's going to the expo, Grammy in London visiting Peggy" Art said
The two arrived at the Expo in record time and they landed on each side of Rhodey, who was wearing a modified Mark II suit
"There are civilians present…I'm on orders; let's not do this now", Rhodey said. Tony and Artemis waved to the crowd
"We're with you" Tony said.
In the crowd Salt frowned trading a glance with Natasha, who nodded "I'll be back" Salt said standing up and left
She left the building and headed to the WW II memorial where her mom was "Mom" she called when she entered
Jasmine looked up from the Bucky Barnes display and saw her daughter giving her a look. So she walked over to her "we need you in the air" Salt said
Jasmine smiled and nodded leaving the area as Salt walked back to the main building.
Back with Artemis they were still talking with Rhodey
"All these people are in danger…you have to trust me for the next five minutes" Tony informed the soldier.
"Rhodey he's working with Vanko" Artemis muttered
"Vanko is alive?" he said surprised.
Tony walked up to Hammer
"Where is he, Hammer" Tony ordered as he turned to look at the oldest sibling.
"What are you talking about" he asked confused
"Vanko, where is he now" Artemis demanded as she stepped up next to her brother.
"Woah" Tony said as warnings appeared on their screens
"Is that you?" he asked Rhodey
"No it's not me; get out of here the whole system has been compromised" Rhodey told them his large gun on his back raising. The arms of each drone behind him rose.
"Oh shit" Artemis said following her brother out through the ceiling and the drones began shooting making the glass fall
Artemis looked behind her to see the drones following them "Hey, Tony" Artemis called a little while later
"What" Tony asked
"She needs some target practice" Art smirked as did Tony
The two flew past a building and some drones were blown up "how the hell did she get that past security" Rhodey asked knowing who was shooting
"Special badge" the siblings said
On a building looking through a scope laid Jasmine looking for more drones. She smirked seeing one and shot "Nikko's gonna be pissed that we're making things explode without her" she laughed making the siblings laugh
Artemis turned so she was flying backwards and began shooting the drones "easy Artemis" Rhodey yelled
"Oh, if I wanted to shoot you, I would" Artemis said
"We need to lead them away from the expo" Tony said
"Spilt up" Artemis yelled and Tony nodded
The two spilt and Artemis saw most of the drones were coming after her, seems like Vanko figured out who she is.
Artemis began mapping a course to help blow up the machines
She laughed when Jasmine shot the last one "all clear on my end" she said "good head to the garden" Tony said
Artemis veered towards the gardens and when she got there she blasted Rhodey off of Tony
"Reboot complete" Natasha informed them.
"Thank you Agent Romanoff" Tony said
"I'm reading significantly higher output from your suits now" Nat said as Artemis walked over to were Rhodey was
"Yes for the moment we're not dying", he told her.
"Wait did you say you're not dying" Pepper asked in a frantic voice.
"What no we're not dying" Tony panicked.
"What's going on" she ordered.
"I was gonna tell you" he defended.
"When was that Tony, on your deathbed" Salt said through her earpiece from where she was being her mother's spotter
"No" Artemis said
"Save it for the honeymoon; you've got incoming guys" Natasha informed them
Artemis kneeled down and knocked on Rhodey's faceplate and the faceplate popped open
"Urg, you can have your suit back" he said
The siblings helped pull him up "You alright" Artemis asked worriedly.
"Yeah, thanks" he said "Tony, look I'm sorry"
Artemis watched amused, neither were good at apologizing
"Don't be" Tony waved him off
"No, look, I should have trusted you more" Rhodey told him shaking his head.
"I'm the one who put you in this position" Tony pointed out.
"It's your fault, but I just wanted you to hear I'm sorry", Rhodey told him
"Oh get a room after we deal with these idiots" Artemis said
Natasha smirked "that's sounded like you and Barton there for a second, Carbonell" she said
Artemis glared "zip it Nata"
"Good, that's all I wanted to hear…partner" Tony told him. "They're coming in hot Arty and I need your help" he said pointing to the North.
"Let's put the biggest gun at the hill" Rhodey suggested and Tony nodded. They moved to go toward the hill causing them to argue about who should go up there.
"Don't stay down here this is the worst place to be" Rhodey complained. They began to argue again and Artemis was suddenly reminded of her, Nat, and Clint on some of their first missions together
As they continued to argue the drones dropped down and surrounded them. The three stood back to back and their faceplates shut and they began attacking.
"See that" Tony said jovially after he took out three of the drones with small rockets.
"Yeah, yeah nice", Rhodey dismissed him
Artemis punched one through the chest, fired up her thrusters making the drone blow up from the inside "Art, did you watch Dragon Ball Z again" Tony asked
"Hey, Peter likes that show" Artemis defend
Smoke was starting to appear from all the fighting
"Both of you down" Tony called and the two ducked down
"Should have lead with that", Rhodey told Tony as Artemis and he stood up
"Yeah sorry boss; it's a onetime thing" he informed them.
"Heads up you got one more drone coming in fast…it's different" Natasha said
The large drone dropped to the ground and the mask opened revealing Vanko's face
"Good to be back", he said to us.
"This ain't gonna be good", Rhodey murmured to the siblings.
Vanko released his familiar whips lightening bursting from them.
"I got something special for this guy", Rhodey said moving up from them and a small rocket propeller opened from his shoulder "I'm gonna bust his bunker with the ex-wife"
"The hell" Artemis glared as the rocket was fired but it just hit the suit before crashing into the water and fizzed out.
"Hammer Tech" Artemis stated
"Yeah" Rhodey said
"I got this" Artemis said target three key points and firing only for the bullets to bounce off as Vanko closed his faceplate
Vanko began flicking his whips, Artemis flipped back as Tony and Rhodey rolled to the side; Rhodey began to fire at him but he sliced his large gun into two. Tony flew up firing; Vanko wrapped his whip around him slamming him into rock.
Artemis tried to attack him from behind but Vanko whirled around and threw her into the bridge "urg, what's with Russians, me and bridges" she asked
Nat smirked "at least you won't thrown off like last time" she said
Artemis nodded she learn her lesson about with holding Nat's vodka and began standing up only to see Vanko with his whips around Rhodey's and Tony's neck "Artemis, I could sure use a partner" Tony called
Artemis flew in front of Vanko putting her hand up as did Rhodey and Tony "now" Tony shouted
The three fired and when everything built up it blow everyone back
Artemis stood up while looking over her suit as she walked over to Tony and Rhodey, who were standing in front of a barely breathing Vanko
"You lose, Starks" Vanko laughed just as his reactor began beeping red
Artemis looked around to see the others beeping as well "Tony these things are rig to blow we need to get out of here" Rhodey said
The three blasted off "Jasmine, Salt" Artemis said going over to the building, grabbing them and headed to a building where Rhodey was
Artemis took off her helmet and Salt began healing her wounds
Jasmine set down pouting at the fact she lost her sniper rifle in the explosion "I'll build you a new one" Artemis said to her pouting god-sister
Tony and Pepper landed on the roof and everyone went quite to see how this would play out
Artemis looked over at her brother from another mother "50 on they kiss" she mouthed
Rhodey nodded at the bet
"Oh my god I can't take this anymore" Pepper said looking frazzled.
"What do you mean, look at me" he said defensively, his suit was very messed up
"My body literally cannot handle this stress I never know if you're gonna kill yourself or wreck the whole company" she snapped at him.
"Everything is okay", he said motioning to the explosions.
Artemis smirked, then frowned, why is it that all the places she likes explode
"I can't do this I'm resigning; that's it"
Artemis, Jasmine and Salt frowned at that, who was going to help Salt rein the siblings in.
"What did you just say? You're done" he said walking over to her looking angry. "That's surprising…okay it's not surprising. I get it, you don't have to make any excuses"
Artemis held back a whine, Pepper is like her sister she doesn't want her to leave. She perked up already thinking about how to get the woman to stay
"I'm not making excuses" Pepper defended moving over to him.
"Actually you just did" he said flirting with her.
"I'm not making an excuse; I'm actually very justified" she defended.
"You deserve better; you've taken such great care of Artemis and I" he said nodding. "Been through a tough spot and you got me through it so" he trailed off.
"Thank you" she said sniffling. "Thank you for understanding"
Artemis smirked knowing what Tony was about to do
"Let's talk clean up", he said obviously deflecting.
"I'll handle everything" she promised.
"What about the press" Artemis turned to Rhodey with a grin as Pepper and Tony's face got closer
"What about the press that could take like a week" he said.
"A week it's like dog years with you", she argued as they inched closer "It's like the president" she said but Tony pulled her close kissing her.
Artemis held her hand out to Rhodey
"Weird" Tony said when they pulled away.
"No not at all" she whispered pulling him in again.
"I think it was weird" Rhodey said
"So did I" Jasmine said and Salt nodded
"You look like two seals fighting over a grape" he said causing Art, Salt and Jazz to laugh
"I had just quit" Pepper said looking uncomfortable with being caught.
"Yeah she did" he defended.
"You don't gotta do that" Rhodey told them.
"Yeah we heard that whole thing" Salt smirked
"Yeah…you guys should get lost" Tony said bluntly.
"We were here first", Rhodey defended
"Yeah, get a roof" Jazz smirked.
"Shut it, Barnes" Tony fake sneered
"You kicked ass back there by the way" Tony said pointing at Rhodey.
"You too" he told him.
"Jasmine, I hope I'm never in your crosshairs" Tony said
Jasmine smiled, she was almost as good as Clint when it came to being a sniper, and she got her patience from babysitting the Stark siblings along with Salt.
"Listen my car got took out in the explosion so I'm gonna need to borrow your suit a little longer" Rhodey said
"Not okay with that" Tony shook his head
"Wasn't a question" he informed him before his face plate went down and he shot off into the sky.
"I will be collecting on my 50 bucks" Artemis yelled then looked back at her family only to see Salt crossing her arms
"When were you going to tell us you were dying" she asked as Pepper and Jasmine joined her sides
Artemis and Tony gulped "we didn't want to worry you" they said
Salt nodded "okay" she said
Artemis frowned "that's it" she asked
Jasmine smirked "no, I'm telling Mom" she said
The sibling went wide-eyed at that "don't tell Grammy" the begged getting down on their knees and hugged the snipers waist
Jasmine just laughed
A week later Artemis was in the lab back at the mansion going over the information she collected on Winter Soldier as well as what her mom collected
She frowned putting the same facts together "so he appeared a few years after WW II" she muttered writing that down.
She looked at the nickname her mom called him and try to think, who did she call that, but nothing came to mind.
Artemis stood up and stretched, and smiled seeing Peter walking towards her. Peter started walking about three months ago, of course he went right to the Buddy, Artemis version of Butterfingers.
Buddy loves Peter, he always chases Peter around; he's like a dog
Artemis picked up Peter and walked over to a picture of the Howling Commandos plus Nikko, Lily, Maria and Howard "Ucky" Peter laughed pointing to Bucky in the picture
Artemis smiled "Aptain" Peter said pointing to Captain America
Artemis looked up when Tony came in "guess what I conned Fury into during" he bragged
Artemis raised an eyebrow "please tell me it's Senator Dumbass" Artemis said
Most would never cuss in front of their kid but Artemis figures why hold a baby back from learning words that he's going to hear any way.
Tony grinned wickedly at his sister causing her to return it, Peter saw the smiles and laugh, even he knows when the siblings has those grins something either gonna explode or they gonna make someone's life hell
Artemis stood beside her brother wearing her Sparrow uniform as Senator Stern gave his speech. Artemis just tuned him out till he came to stand in front of her "thank you for your selfness heroism" he said pinning the medal on
Artemis didn't even jump when the pin stuck her "let's get a picture" Stern said getting between Rhodey and Tony
Tony put his arm around Artemis's shoulder and flash the peace sign to everyone and as the photographer was about to take their picture Artemis kissed her brother cheek
