Artemis groaned leaning up on her elbows "Salt, Nikko what's your status" she asked through her com
"We're heading to a safe place" Salt said holding Peter and running towards the safe room where she met Nikko, Grammy and Walsh
"Roger that" Artemis said standing up
"Put on the suit," Steve said in a completely different tone as Tony agreed with a quick, "Yeah!" Steve attempted to help Toni get up straight but he shoved his hands away only for him to put them straight back on and push him forward.
Artemis ran out of the room her mind on getting to her godson
"External detonation," Hill began, "Number three engine is down. Can they get it running?"
"Fire in engine three," another Agent shouted.
"Talk to me," Hill asked another Agent.
"Turbine looks mostly intact but it's impossible to get out there to make repairs while we're in the air," he replied.
"If we lose one more engine, we won't be," Hill said darkly, "somebody's got to get outside and patch that engine."
"Stark, you copy that?" Fury said upon hearing the situation.
"I'm on it," Tony confirmed leaving Fury free to issue more orders, "Coulson, initiate defensive lockdown in the detention section then get to the armory. Romanoff?"
"We're okay." Natasha responded "We're okay, right?" she said nervously.
Artemis froze hearing a roar a minute later and knew that the Hulk has been unleashed
She then saw some agents coming towards her and smirked jumping to grab the bar above her and pulled herself up.
She waited till the soldiers were a little away from the bar and dropped to the ground silently. She walked up to one and put her arms around his head making sure to put a hand over his mouth, then twisted.
She placed the body silently on the ground and walked up behind the other two slipping her Sais out
In the safe room Nikko set up a wall of purple fire in front of the door "Nikko go out and help" Grammy said
Nikko looked at her "no I'm staying here" she said
Grammy smiled "Nikko go out there and make sure I don't lose my cousin before I can kick his ass" she ordered
Nikko laughed take the wall of fire down "Rookie, you protect them" she said leaving the room
Casey shut the door looking at the small family "you'll be okay, Casey" Salt smiled
Someone began shooting the door so Casey took her Sais out of her boots and held them in front of her
Before anyone could do anything the helicarrier began to tilt "shit" Casey said sliding
"It's Barton. He took out our systems. He's headed for the detention level. Does anybody copy?" Fury relayed
"This is Agent Carbonell, I copy"
Casey looked at them "Artemis is going after Barton" she said
"Then Clint will be back in no time" Grammy smiled knowing Artemis has unfinished business with the archer
Artemis pulled herself up on the rafters and began walking quietly to find her Hawkass and get him back
Artemis appeared behind Clint who was walking down the rafters
Clint turned raising his bow and quickly fired off an arrow but it went straight over her shoulder as she lunged at him with her Sai.
Clint used his bow itself to try to hit Artemis whilst she used her Sais to defend herself.
Artemis kicked his knee then went under the walkway and came up to kick Clint's face
Clint staggered and Artemis hopped over to another walkway with Clint following her
Clint fired another arrow but Artemis dodged that and grabbed the bow string but Clint pulled making Artemis hit herself and drop her Sais
Artemis glared kicking him in his stomach and threw the bow behind her ridding him of his main weapon
Clint pulled out a knife from his boot and Artemis smirked as they began fighting "Hawkass, you rarely beat me, wants make this any different" she said then saw the blue in his eyes flick
Artemis grabbed Clint's arm, stretched and pushed down causing him to cry out.
Clint angled the blade so it would cut into Artemis's arm, so she released him
Clint got the jump on her and reached back to tug her hair making her expose her neck
Artemis grabbed his arm holding the knife, they struggled for a minute before Artemis decided to play dirty by biting his arm
Artemis pushed him back and kicked him in the face making him fall and hit the railing
Artemis watched him ready as he groaned while trying and failed to use the railing to crawl back to his feet "Artemis" he asked confused
Artemis frowned not knowing if this was a ploy to make drop her guard so she punch him making sure to add the tazer to the punch
Nikko ran towards engine three and knocked everyone shooting at Steve down the opening.
She then ran to were Steve was and laid on the ground holding her hand out "Steve" she shouted
Steve looked up and saw her "grab my hand" she called and Steve climb the cable he was holding a little and grabbed Nikko's hand
Nikko pulled him up then staggered forward when a gunman shot her "I got this" she glared teleporting over to the gunman as Steve pulled a lever
Nikko took out her staff and knocked the man into the air when Tony came and knocked him down
Tony landed beside Nikko with his suit all tore up and the eyes of the suit went dark
"You okay Tone" Nikko asked knocking on his face mask
"Yeah" Tony called
"Agent Coulson is down," Fury announced through the com
"A medical team is on its way to your location," was heard as two SHIELD agents carried Clint away from Artemis.
"They're here," Fury responded as Steve, Nikko and Tony were still at engine three "they called it."
Natasha frowned from where she was with Grammy, Salt and Casey.
Grammy frowned running to the dentition block with Salt following "Fury get me a room now" she snapped at him "I might be able to save him with Salt's and Nikko's help"
Fury looked at her then nodded, if anyone could do it, it's Lillian Steward
"Nikko get to my location now" Grammy ordered and a second later Nikko appeared by her side "let's go"
Grammy dragged the two out to follow the medics
Artemis held a sleeping Peter to her as she walked towards the room where Nat was with Clint.
She sighed and knocked on the door not standing by the window
Nat open the door and looked at her "I'll leave you two to talk" she said leaving
"Thanks Nat" Artemis said walking into the room and the door shut behind her
Clint looked up at her "Artemis" he said
Artemis set on a chair across from the bed "listen, Clint, about how I acted when I was dying" she began
"I broke up with Morse a day after that call" he interrupted her and Artemis looked at him confused "why"
Clint smirked "honestly, I only began to date her to make you jealous" he said
Artemis punched his already bruised chest "why the hell would you want me jealous"
"Ow, because I was jealous that you are/were dating Winter Soldier" he said rubbing where Art punched him
Artemis laughed at "me and Baby Cakes" she said between laughs "I flirt with him yeah, but we're not and never were dating"
"But you have pet names" Clint frowned
"I give almost everyone pet names, Hawkass" Artemis smirked
Peter choose that time to wake up "now I feel like an idiot" Clint said
Peter looked towards Clint when he heard his voice "dada" he laughed
Clint looked at Peter shocked "he's been calling you that for a while" Artemis explained as she handed Peter to him
Clint smiled a little "you can change his diaper" Artemis said handing him the diaper bag
Clint glared at her "oh no, you get out of diaper changing every time I ask you" Artemis said "Nata even done it a few times"
Clint sighed standing up and heading into the bathroom with Peter and the diaper bag "Peter, when I do this you better behave" he muttered
Artemis laughed at that
Steve came in a minute later "Time to go,"
"Go where?" She asked curiously.
"I'll tell you on the way," Steve told her.
"Can you fly one of those jets?" he asked knowing he couldn't.
"I can," Clint said emerging from the bathroom wiping his hands
Steve gave him a calculating look before looking at Artemis who nodded, "You got a suit?"
"Yeah," Clint said calmly.
"Then suit up," he said before leaving the room.
Peter came out of the room "um, Hawkass" Artemis began holding back a laugh "Peter's diapers on backwards"
Clint looked at the baby "Dammit" he said causing Artemis to laugh "the straps go in the front"
Clint picked Peter up "drop him off with Casey while I'll go help Tony" Artemis laughed leaving the room
Artemis walked towards a lab while removing her Iron belt
She entered the lab and unfolded the suit "Tony" she said getting his attention
Tony smiled "extra parts, I'll need my upgrade so I'll have to make a pit stop to the mansion" Artemis said
Tony nodded as Clint came in
Art took two things from her pocket "Hawkass, Nata" she called throwing the devices to them
They looked at them "upgrade to your spider bites and that's a grappling arrow just in case" Artemis said as Tony began taking what he need from his sister suit
Artemis and Tony flew a head of the others and once they entered New York they split off, Tony to Stark Tower and Artemis to the mansion.
The Tesseract began to throw out a slight field of neon blue energy as the device to create the portal powered up. "Sir, I've turned off the arc reactor but the device is already self-sustaining," JARVIS informed Tony as he drew to a halt hovering above the rooftop.
"Shut it down, Dr. Selvig," Tony said trying to be reasonable.
"It's too late!" he shouted up to him, "She can't stop now. She wants to show us something! A new universe."
"I tried," Tony said plainly before aiming his repulsor at the Tesseract and firing but a force field formed instantaneously around the Cube and it fired off a burst of energy that sent Selvig flying off hitting his head and Tony spiraling through the air
He quickly managed to steady himself and stay in a single place in the air. "The barrier is pure energy" JARVIS relayed, "It's unbreachable."
"Yeah, I got that," Tony replied before turning to face Loki who stood on the observation deck smirking up at him, "Plan B."
"Sir, the mark VII is not ready for deployment," JARVIS informed him regretfully.
"Then skip the spinning rims. We're on the clock," Tony provided as a solution before landing on the pad which initiated the sequence to remove his suit.
As the armor began to be pulled off by the mechanical arms Loki turned and began to make his way into the Tower itself.
"Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity," Loki joked
"Uh actually, I'm planning to threaten you," Tony said matter-of-factly
"You should have left your armor on for that," Loki laughed
"Yeah," Tony said nonchalantly heading down the stairs, "Its seen a bit of mileage, and you've got the glow stick of destiny. Would you like a drink?" he finished cheekily as he walked behind his personal bar.
"Stalling me won't change anything," Loki said clearly thinking he had caught onto the oldest Stark's plan.
"No, no, no! Threatening," Tony emphasized as he grabbed a bottle of whiskey, "no drink, are you sure? I'm having one."
Loki was clearly growing frustrated with Tony's strange comments so he turned to the window and spat out, "the Chitauri are coming. Nothing will change that. What have I to fear?"
"The Avengers," Tony said simply pulling the lid off of the ornate glass bottle that held the whiskey.
Seeing Loki's confused look he shrugged and continued, "That's what we call ourselves. We're sort of like a team, 'Earth's mightiest heroes' type thing."
As he poured herself the drink Loki said calmly, "Yes, I've met them,"
"Yeah," Tony said with a smile, "it was always going to take us a while to get any traction; I'll give you that one. But let's do a head count, here.
"Your brother, the demigod," as Loki looked away in frustration at him bring up Thor so he quickly reached out for a pair of bracelets that were sitting on the counter and slipped them around his wrists,
"A super soldier, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend."
"A man with breath-taking anger management-issues," he continued earning a slight smirk from Loki.
"A couple of master assassins,"
"And my favorite, a super genius assassin, and you, big fella, you've managed to piss off every single one of them," Tony concluded
"That was the plan," Loki said.
"Not a great plan," Tony said walking away from the bar and towards Loki "when they come, and they will, they'll come for you."
"I have an army," Loki said tensely.
"We have a Hulk," Ton retorted
"Oh I thought the beast had wandered off," Loki smirked
"You're missing the point," Tony told him "there is no throne. There is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you. Because if we can't protect the Earth, you can be damn well sure we'll avenge it."
Tony drained the last of his drink as Loki advanced on him now obviously angry "How will your friends have time for me when they are so busy fighting you?" he snapped.
Loki raised the scepter before Tony had time to react and pointed it at his chest but with a clink it bounced off the arc reactor.
Loki looked confusedas he attempted it again but the same thing happened "This usually works," Loki stated confused
"Well, performance issues, it's not uncommon, 1 out of 5" Tony quipped.
Over the com he could hear Artemis laughing at that
Loki growled picking him up by his throat "a minute out" Artemis called over the com
He threw Tony across the floor and he hit the ground with a loud thump and was clearly in pain as he pushed himself up, "JARVIS, anytime now," he said quietly.
As he managed to scramble to his feet Loki grabbed a hold of his throat again and spat out, "You will all fall before me."
"Deploy!" Tony said anxiously as a door on the other side of the room began to slide open. He managed to spit the word 'deploy' out again just before Loki threw him out of the window.
"Tony" Artemis shouted putting more power into her thrusters but Tony's Mark VII suit came and formed around him.
Artemis smiled as Tony flew up to the window he was thrown out of with her following
"And there's one other person you pissed off," Tony said angrily as they came up level with Loki again.
"His name was Phil," he concluded.
Loki raised his scepter to fire on them but Tony beat him to the punch and struck him with an energy beam that sent him flying backwards across the room.
On the roof the Tesseract finally got up to the correct level and as the blue energy began to spin around it the moment came and a huge blue energy beam fired up at the sky and the portal was formed.
Artemis looked up and saw the Chitauri
"Right," Tony said as the siblings display screens went from defence mode to attack mode "Army."
