Sonic Forces Underground: A Different Story: Prologue: A Hero's past revealed! Sonic's a Prince?!

Three months, it had been three months since Miles "Tails" Prowar went missing. Sonic had been looking for the twin tailed fox that he called his little brother ever since. He had even resorted to getting the Chaotix to help but still no luck. Now everyday he would go around the bases that he knew eggman had (at least the ones he could get to). However, today was different, why you may ask? Well the night before sonic got a phone call from the new commander of G.U.N, Clair Rosepower or at least that's what they used to be called until a government raid found some suspicious stuff was happening at G.U.N. It turned out that until six months ago under orders of their former commander Richard Swalwell they actually assisting Eggman with his plans. Sonic didn't know the details (He had been meaning to ask Team Dark about that) but he like what the new commander was doing. G.U.N was now known has Guardians Of Peace or GOP.

Sonic arrived at the GOP base that he was told to come to. The guards at the door had intently recognized him so that means he was able to get past security with ease. Not that the GOP wanted to delay the information getting past on. They would have told them last night but they were still verifying it at the time. Has soon has Sonic got into the main base building he was greeted by the GOP commander herself.

"Hello Mr. Astorio please come with me and has soon has everyone else arrives we can start the briefing." The commander said with a smile. Sonic nodded and followed the commander to the briefing room. At the briefing room Sonic saw Teams Dark, Rose, Chaotix and Babylon along Vanilla Rabbit, Knuckles, Sliver and Blaze. There were also some people he didn't know that weren't with the GOP. What shocked him the most was the outfit Vanilla was wearing. Instead of her usual corseted dress she was wearing the GOP female uniform.

When Sonic asked about it, she said, "I used to work for G.U.N when I was younger. After a mission went wrong and I found out that I was pregnant with Cream I decided to retire so I could look after her. I still help out from time to time. I actually volunteered to help out on this one." Vanilla explained to the young hedgehog. Sonic then sat down in one of the tables in the room next to a lion which while he didn't recognize after turning to introduce himself, he saw an old familiar face.

"Sonic?! But how?! We thought you were dead!" Cyrus Leonheart leader of the Mobotropolis resistance exclaimed in shock.

"I thought the same of you Cy and my sibs. Wait are Manic and Sonia…" Sonic trail off thinking of his siblings who had missed so much.

"Yeah their alive. They found your parents about three months ago. Oh, looks like the briefing about to start I'll talk to you after this." Cyrus explained.

Sonic sighed in relief and though of seeing his siblings again. What would think of his current situation? Plus, just what was his father like? In the very limited contact, he and his siblings had with their mother. She never mentioned their father. After thirty seconds the briefing started.

"I apologize for the wait everyone. We have people who are from far out of state and one of them were difficult to get a hold of because of were there form. Now then is everyone ready to get started? We have a lot to cover and discuss and I don't think we want to be here all day." The commander started and was meet with nodes of agreement form all in attendance. "Three weeks ago, we received intel form some of our field agents. They informed us that they had found a previously unknown base belonging to Doctor Eggman. Has a result this Team Dark was sent to investigate the situation. Agent Shadow if you would." The commander explains before the siting down.

"Thank you, commander Clair, for those of you who don't know me I am Shadow Robotnik, the ultimate lifeform and leader for team dark. What I'm about to discuss is a summary of Team Dark's previous mission. Has the commander said before, the mission took place three week prior to this briefing. After we arrived at the base, we found that is currently on low occupancy meaning that the doctor was not presently at this base. Furthermore, he also had this base well hidden. After an investigation of the interior of the base we found that this base was pacifically hidden form Sonic. After we successfully hacked into his base's main computer, we found a fold containing files relating something called Project Infinite. Unfortunately, the was some sort of software on that file that infected closed us out of the system and prevented us from taking the files. Luckily, we were successfully able to extract one file relating to the project. It was tailed Candidates for Project Infinite. You should find a copy of the file on your desk. The first thing that we found has the name suggest was a list of candidates. This is why GOP believe that the disappearance of Miles Prower is in fact related to this project. Please refer to the top most document in your copy of the file." Shadow explained the details.

The document the ebony hedgehog was referring to was indeed a list of all the candidates for the project. They were listed by a number that was next to their name. There were five candidates that caught Sonic's eye.

The five that caught Sonic's eye was candidates 1-5. All five of them were his family members and Tails was at the top of the list. What concerned Sonic was the percentages at the side of their names. Shadow then continued to explain the file they found.

"Asides form this we also found a document relating to something the doctor called the Phantom Ruby. While we did not know what it was at the time we meet someone who provided us with answers. Eugene would you take over from here?" Shadow concluded.

"Thank you Shadow. Now before I get into details of what the Phantom Ruby is I like to inform everyone that I will make reference to places you mostly likely haven't heard of due to the fact that it comes from my home world Universum. This will mostly be in the from of historical context, so places bear with me. Now then, to get started I will explain the origins of the Phantom Ruby. The Phantom Ruby was crated a hundred thousand years ago. This was when Magic was still new to Universum and my home kingdom known today has Inlustris was still in its early days. A dark wizard known has Cederic Starag was experiment thing with hallucinations spells. Has the name implies these spells can cause the victim to hallucinate. Now, while has magic was still new at the time we didn't many laws to regulate it but we did have at least five of them. These five laws were known has the five grate Laws of Magic. One of these laws stated that magic could not be use with the intent of gaining more power within society." Eugene started with a sigh.

"I'm guessing form the way you mention this law that this Cederic did something to brake it?" Vanilla asked wearily. Eugene nodded his head.

"Yes indeed he did. You see the reason why he's considered a dark wizard is because broke the first, second and third law. The second one forbid the use of evil magic, or has its more commonly known has Forbidden magic. While the third forbid the use of magic with mal intent. When he created the first Phantom Ruby he used dark magic to make the hallucinations real. He did this with the intent of using it to crate an undefeatable army to take down the royal family because they had chosen his brother over him to be the royal wizard. This lead into the Ruby vs Sapphire war. The war ended with the formation of our enemy kingdom known has Dysinya." Eugene replied.

"Okay I get the ruby Part but what about the sapphire?" Sliver asked the knight.

"Oh, that's because of the weapon that was made to counter the Phantom Ruby. It's known has Spectral Sapphire. Unlike it's Phantom counterpart which thrives off of negative emotions like anger, sadness and fear, it thrives on positive emotions such has happiness, relief and hope. Speaking of weapons I'd say it's high time for me to explain why I'm here isn't it? You see about a week ago back home we had received word that a underground laboratory was performing illegal experiments on the phantom ruby and kidnaped my girlfriend who is the princess of Inlustris and we found that they had a partnership with Doctor Eggman and while I was raiding one of his bases looking for her I met with Team Dark who kindly offered to help me find her. Thus I feel that it's only fair to help GOP out with their newest operation" Eugene said with a smile. The GOP commander then stood up.

"Alright everyone where going to take a 30-minute brake. During this I want you to read the rest of the documents in the file. After this we are going to discuss what we're going to do about this "Project Infinite" and plan a raid on Eggman's base in Mobotropolis. We also need to get the real royal family away from there and warn them about this insident." The GOP commander ordered. Everyone left the briefing room in groups Vanilla went with Team Rose, Blaze and Silver went together, Teams Dark, Chaotix and Babylon went with their teams.

Sonic on the other hand went with Cyrus. They were in a garden like area of the base. GOP troops normally used this place to relax after a tough mission. Cyrus was the first one to among the trio to speck. "So Sonic how have you two been these last four years?"

"I've been doing alright, I guess. We'll up until six months ago." Sonic replied while deep in thought.

"What do you mean by that Sonic? Did something happen?" Cyrus asked his old friend.

"Yes, something happened. You know the kid who Eggman has down has the top candidate?" Sonic asked to which Cyrus nodded. "He's my adopted little brother. He- He went missing six months ago. I've been looking for him and I haven't made any progress until today! I mean I had feeling that Eggman was the one who took him, and he has captured Tails in the past but I've always been able to find him before he was able to hurt him! But this first time he been able to hide this long! I'm really worried about Tails Cyrus." Sonic vented to his old friend.

"Oh man, I really hope that we can find him Sonic. Tell you what, when we get back to Mobotropolis I can ask Sonia and Manic to see if he's there. If not, then I'll have had many resistance squads search for him has I can spear." Cyrus replied to his old friend.

"Thanks Cyrus. It means a lot to me. It really does. I just hope that Manic and Sonia and my parents except him for who he is." Sonic sighed looking up to the sky.

"Why wouldn't they Sonic? Did something happen in the past?" Cyrus questioned.

"Tails well, he was bullied in the past. It was for his two tails and his name Miles Prower. I don't know the full story, but I know that before I took him in, he had a hard life. The only reason I about the bullying is because they came back and beaten him up once. Luckily I managed to find him and stop the bullies before they hurt him to bad." Sonic revealed to his trusted friend.

"I see… How about we go through the file Shadow gave us? We might be able to find out what Robotnik has planned for him. By the way I noticed that You guys call him Eggman and not Robotnik. Why is that?" Cyrus asked in curiosity.

"Oh, that's an insult that we use against him. You know, because he looks like and Egg?" Sonic answered which ended up with Cyrus laughing.

"Oh, My, God how did we not notice that?! I'm SO telling the resistance when I get back!" Cyrus laughed for about a minute. "Alright let's look at these documents of "Dr. Eggman's"." Cyrus said has he opened the file.

Notes: This candidate is the most ideal out of the candidates I have available. He has a close relationship with Sonic and from a look into his medical and mental health history he would be easy for me to brake and make him into my slave even without the phantom ruby. That being said he is stubborn and vary smart. There is a chance that he could escape before the project is completed but he would also be helpful around the base. On top of that Sonic is very protective of his family and friends after what happened four years ago. I will have to be very cautious of his whereabouts when I do attempt to kidnap the subject.

"This file is dated about three months before your brother went missing. This means that Eggman has been planning this for a while." Cyrus observed the date on the file.

"That would be about the last time I beat Eggman on the lost Hexs. Either way your right about him planning this for a while. What I'm wondering about is this Phantom Ruby and why Eggman would want it? If he has it, it's probably for something bad." Sonic commented worriedly.

"Good question but you have a good point. That reminds me. We actually received some intel from one of our squads saying that Eggman found a gem by that same name. I sent Manic and Sonia to investigate it they should be back by the time we get back to base. Maybe they can tell us why Eggman needs the Phantom Ruby for his project." Cyrus hoped.

"Hopefully they won't get caught by him. If this file means what I think it does, then Eggman's after them! But maybe it's best that I go in disguise… If Eggman's keeping Tails in Mobotropolis an find out that I'm their then he might figure out that I know about his plans. Knowing him he might take Tails somewhere else." Sonic said in thought.

"Why do you think Eggman's keeping him there Sonic?" Cyrus asked his old friend.

"There are two reasons one is this file we just looked at. Judging from the notes that Eggman wrote in Tails file he's trying to turn him against me. But knowing Tails he's far too loyal to let that happen easily and he didn't mention the Robotizer, so I don't think he's going to use that. On top of that he hasn't use that against me for four years now and he knows that my medallion can temporarily derobotize someone for a while. He obviously didn't want anyone to know what project infinite is especially me! Which leads me into reason two. For the last six months I've been search though all of Eggman's bases. Look at this map I have here." Sonic pulled out a map the showed all of Eggman's bases. "The ones that have an X over them are one's that I've already searched top to bottom." There was only one that didn't have an X. "Has you can see Cyrus the only base I haven't been able to check is his main headquarter in Mobotropolis which is his most defended base. Therefore, we are left with two possibilities for where Tails could be. One being that Eggman has a new base somewhere. Two being his base in Mobotropolis." Sonic said with a smile.

"And if Eggman was gonna keep a top-secret project anywhere it be somewhere where he knew no one could get to it! That would also explain the increase in security there has well." Cyrus realized what the blue prince was saying. Sonic nodded to his old friend.

"Yeah, that's what I thought to. So that's why I started to make a plan to infiltrate Mobotropolis last night. But the problems are that things have probably changed a lot since the last time I was there.

"It has Sonic it's impossible to leave or enter Mobotropolis without Eggman knowing. Unless you have a good plan that is." Cyrus replied.

"I figured that would be the case. That why when I first realized that this was a possibility, I started to make a plan." Sonic said has he looked up to the sky.

"What was your plan Sonic?" Cyrus asked in curiosity.

"Well first I would tell my friends about my past and explain why I think Tails is in that Eggman base. Next, I would have Rouge the bat from team dark, Cream the rabbit form Team Rose and Team Babylon fly over the city and find a place that shadow could chao control use to teleport us inside the city." Sonic explained to his friend.

"That actually a good plan, however there are a one problem. That being that Eggman put up a barrier that keeps anyone form flying above the city. But luckily I brought some maps with me that could help." Cyrus explained.

"That's grate, thank you Cyrus. This will be a big help. Not only does it prevent us from having to scout out the place but this will make it so we can find a way around Eggman's traps." Sonic smiled. Suddenly the that would signal the beginning of the second part of the briefing rang.

"Well Sonic looks like it's time to carry out the second part of your plan." Cyrus said has he got up and started walking towards the building with Sonic following. Soon enough the stood in front of the briefing room doors. "Are you ready Sonic?"

"Ready has I can be considering the situation were in. Though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous." Sonic said to his old friend.
