This time Ahsoka listens to Maul when he tells her about the vision he's had of Anakin. Of what the future holds for him as Sideous' new apprentice. They leave for Coruscant immediately.
Ahsoka doesn't trust Maul. But she knows there is some truth to his words. Anakin was not himself when she last saw him. There was more chaos than usual surrounding him. He seemed to cling to any shred of normalcy he could find. A mania of sorts. Once they reach Coruscant it's a race against time. They must reach the Chancellor before Anakin has the chance to do something he will regret.
They arrive just in time to witness Mace and Sidious' battle. This is it. There is no turning back from the events that follow here.
Perhaps it's over in seconds. Maul throwing his double-sided saber through the air, the force guiding it as it hits its target. Distracted by Mace and the obsession of claiming Anakin as his apprentice, maybe Sidious doesn't notice the saber until it's too late. The red blade slices through him and the former Chancellor crumples to the floor.
Perhaps it's Anakin who upon seeing Ahsoka begins to realize the severity of his choices. Begins to think about his wife and the young woman who stands before him now. Of his former Master whom he loves like a brother. Realizes what he would lose. And instead turns on the former Chancellor aiding Mace in removing him from power.
Or perhaps Sidious is killed but it doesn't make a difference. Anakin still turns to the dark side in a last attempt to save his wife from death. This time there is no clone army for Anakin to lead to storm the Jedi temple. No opportunity for him to kill the younglings without having to fight those he loves and trusted.
The only constant in any of these endings and the ending we know are the four people who loved and cared for Anakin.
Padmé Amidala, Obi-wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano and Commander Rex.
The people who loved Anakin and couldn't imagine him falling. Because they believed in him that strongly. They loved him that strongly. This blind love was their shared flaw. Their downfall.
