Temari took a deep breath in and walked through her own door as he did the same. The new room was red and smaller than the others. In the middle was a box with a microphone and a sign that said, "Push the button and speak your partners name."

Temari scanned the room to see her surroundings then stepped up to the box. She cleared her throat, pushed the button and spoke Shikamaru's name. A buzzing noise sounded and a light above a single door turned green as the door slid open. Temari sighed and walked through, "That wasn't so bad."

Shikamaru's room was blue and had the same layout. He spoke Temari's name and continued on with no other issues.

Shikamaru opened a curtain and the room was set up like the first one, except there were red streamers hanging from the ceiling, with fake blood dripping from the ceiling, and a strobing red light making it harder to see.

Temari walked through her room that was exactly the same, but she heard a scream on the intercom, "TEMARI! HELP! YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF THAT ROOM NOW!"

"Shikamaru!?", Temari screeched and ran for the door at the end, shaking it feverishly to try and open it, but it was locked. There was a red button presented next to the door.

"Red for my room, right? If I press it, it will open my door and I can help him!,", as she spoke to herself a blue light presented behind her, showing the same colored button as the light. The room shook and the fake walls started to close in, leaving small enough space on either side of the closing walls for one person and a button, "Shit... Or blue to open his room could be a possibility.", she trailed off, "He said help. What was wrong, was he injured? They have to be playing a trick, right? If I press the blue and it opens his door he will be okay, right?!", Temari tried to reason out loud, "But if I make it to the other side then I'm stuck in here with the closed doors..."

Meanwhile Shikamaru was going through the same predicament. The intercom played the same thing in Temari's voice, making him believe she was in danger.

Shikamaru was going through the same thought process. Each button accordingly on the other sides of the room, "The walls closing in doesn't make it easier to think!"

"Dammit!", they both yelled and ran for the other side of the room right before they had no room left from the walls. Panting heavily as they reached the other side safely, they watched the walls fully close in on them, "There's no going back now.", Temari mumbled and looked at the blue button.

"You better be the right answer.", Shikamaru groaned to the button.

Together they both hit their opposite colored buttons at the same time and the walls shook again, opening once more to allow the entrance to the final door to slide open, showing the outside.

They both ran for it, stepping out into the fresh air of the night and exiting the horror building.

Temari looked to her right as a frantic figure bolted out the same time as her.

"Nara!"

His eyes went wide and he hugged her in a death grip as she hugged back while laughing, "You're not hurt!"

Shikamaru pulled back curiously, leaving his hands on her shoulders "N-neither are you...?"

Temari blinked at him, "They totally played the both of us."

Shikamaru laughed and dropped his hands, "I'm so glad to be out of there."

Temari let out an exhale of relief, "Me too."

Shikamaru sighed, "We should find the rest of the group."

Temari nodded and he grabbed her hand and started walking. Temari stiffened and he looked at her confused, "Is something wrong?", then he noticed she was staring at their hands.

He quickly let go and shoved his hands in his pockets, "Ah! Sorry, Tem. I guess it's a new habit from the haunted house.", he said sheepishly.

Temari blushed and pulled the jacket she still had on closer to her body nervously then realized she still had his jacket, "Oh, here!", she awkwardly shouted as she took it off and handed it back, "I forgot I still had it."

He held up a hand to deny it, "No worries, I'm not too cold anyway. That haunted house got me worked up."

Temari wrapped the jacket back around her shoulders.

With the small awkward silence between them a clown ran up to them and jump-scared the both of them, resulting in them both grabbing for each other. Temari interlocked her hands into his in a death grip, "You are not leaving my side for the rest of the night, got that Nara?", she demanded threateningly.

Shikamaru laughed, "After that, I wasn't planning on it."

Temari giggled and they both walked to find Ino and most of the gang.

"Hey you two! We're just waiting on Kiba and his pair and Naruto and Hinata now!", Ino yelled and waved towards the two, "Geez what happened to you two?"

The two looked at each other and realized they were still covered in dry blood, "We had a blood fight.", the two shrugged amused.

"I don't mind waiting for the others, I need a moment anyways.", Temari groaned, as she let go of his hand and sat on the edge of the sidewalk.

Shikamaru saw Ino smirk at him and playfully shoved her shoulder, "Shut up.", he groaned.

Ino laughed and poked him in the stomach, "I told you so."

Shikamaru blushed and sat down next to Temari to end Ino's pestering.

Temari raised an eyebrow at him, "What was that?"

"Nothing. Don't ask."

"Have you and Ino known each other long?"

Shikamaru smirked and swayed his shoulder into hers, "Are you jealous?"

She laughed, "No, just curious.", she defended.

"We are childhood friends. Our parents are friends so we're bound by that friendship. I don't actually like her.", Shikamaru said loudly so Ino would hear and Ino stuck her tongue out in response.

Temari laughed, "I see. Makes sense why she tried to set us up then."

"Why is that?"

Temari looked at him surprised, "Her roommate and her best friend seems like a common pairing to me?", she said confused.

Shikamaru shook his head in utter disagreement, "Nah, Ino is the jealous type when it comes to her close friends. She's like an overprotective sibling. If she thinks two people are good for each other, it's usually because she really thinks so. Which is really rare because she has high standards. Even for my lazy ass."

"Finally, the last two pairs!", Ino shouted.

A shaking Hinata walked behind a pale faced Naruto with shut eyes as her head dug into his back. Kiba followed the other pair shakenly behind his own date as he used her as a shield.

Shikamaru stood up and offered a hand out to Temari who took the offer to stand up. She didn't notice, but his hand never left hers as they walked back to the vans. Temari was too lost in thought after what he said, 'Did Ino really think that much of her and this lazy boy?'

Temari took off his jacket she was borrowing to go in the van first and placed it on her lap. Shikamaru scooted close next to her as Kiba and his date scooted on the same row of the van, packing them all in tightly.

"Alright, everyone's in? Now party time!", Ino shouted as she blasted music throughout the van on their way back to the dorms.

Temari yawned, "This is going to be a long night."

"Tell me about it. I'm going to have to clean up after the party too."

"Why?", she asked, perking up slightly at the confusing words.

"The party is at my dorm. My roommate, Choji, stayed back to set everything up. Plus, he's a big baby and doesn't like haunted houses."

Temari chuckled with a smirk, "Aren't you the same way."

"It's not too bad when you have a good partner.", he winked then looked away.

Temari blushed, but her thoughts were interrupted by her own yawn again, making him look back to her, "You okay?"

"Hm? Yeah, I guess that haunted house just wore me out."

"You can sleep on my shoulder for the ride if you want. It's going to be a long drive back and you still have a party to attend."

Temari groggily looked up to him defeated, "I guess I can't go home early, huh?"

"No way, you're tied to me until the end of the night.", He teased, nudging her playfully with his elbow.

She smiled, "I guess i should take your offer then since I'll have to deal with your ass all night."

Shikamaru rolled his eyes and grumbled, "Troublesome."

Temari snuggled against his shoulder and closed her eyes, "Oh be quiet, Nara. You enjoy me. You told me I was a great partner."

Shikamaru didn't answer. He only hummed lightly then relaxed, letting her fall asleep.

Shikamaru felt a buzz in his pocket and pulled out his phone to see a text from Ino:

Ino: Told you so

Shika: Shut it

Ino: *image*

Shika: That's creepy. Don't take pictures of us.

Ino: Whatever hypocrite. I saw you smile and save the photo.

Shikamaru looked at the photo one last time then locked his phone. It was a photo of Shikamaru with his head on top of Temari's who was sleeping peacefully on his shoulder with his jacket pulled back up to her shoulders

Shikamaru lifted his head as Ino looked back towards them from the front seat

Ino made a kissy face and made a heart out of her hands to mock him.

Shikamaru mouthed: I'm going to murder you.

Ino laughed and stuck her tongue out at him, before turning back around.
