This is the last part of the Time Traveling mission and the most important chapter of the current arc. So anyways, it is almost getting over with Shuichi, the Other Spirit Detective saga in about less than 5 chapters. I'll explain above the new and upcoming saga, and it may have a little less chapters to cover the arc.
Warnings: longest chapter ever written and shounen ai to the max!
Chapter 17 (Part 3)
Four days later had already passed. Meiou Jr High School wasn't the same, especially when Shuichi Minamino has been absent and nobody knew the real reason.
Maya found herself bombarded with question, one after another, from the students of Biology class of Kurama's whereabouts. She raised her hands in defense from personal space invasion. Whenever Kurama had a long case to resolve and she was not there with him, she was always there to cover his absences reasons with superficial and common excuses.
Of course, apart from everyone else, Kaito was the only one who knew... He believed that Kurama was working on a case that sometimes took several days to resolve. Kaito sat on his desk watching how Maya was cornered by their classmates and he did not have the minimum intention to help her out. Instead, he opted to read the Biology textbook as everyone waited for the professor.
Maya tried to put a brave front as she tried to relax under the pressure. "Listen up everyone!" she exclaimed as she got ready herself to speak. "I'm sorry guys but I really have no idea of Minamino's whereabouts! He must be sick or something! He sometimes needs a break from being number one, you know! His body and mind need a break every once in a while! He'll be back before the annual science fair!"
"Promise you'll check for us, Kitamija!"
"We need Minamino! He's our only hope to win the science fair this year!"
"You are his girlfriend after all!"
Maya blushed in embarrassment at that random statement coming from one of the classmates: "For the last time, Koda, we are just childhood friends!" she exclaimed.
"That's what they keep saying but it is totally obvious about how close they are!"
Although, a part of her wish that it was actually the case. She would love to be Kurama's girlfriend and marry him after they graduate high school together. However, Kurama always put school and his crucial duties for the spirit realm before him. She learned this one day when she confessed her feelings towards him…She had decided to wait patiently for Kurama to return her feelings as he was her true love.
"I promise that I'll go check on him today afterschool," Maya said to calm down the masses. "So let's sit down to take today's lecture and let's have a normal day for once!"
"Tell that to his fangirls! They are growing desperate and making up rumors and tabloids on the school newspaper!"
Kaito sighed deeply because frankly, he was tired of hearing Minamino this and Minamino that. This drama from his classmates and false spreading rumors from the fangirls needed to stop at once. "I can hear the professor coming, everyone. Do what Kitamija says and live a day without worshipping or dying over Minamino," he announced coldly after adjusting his glasses.
On cue, the professor opened the door and she made her way to the chalkboard. Maya sighed in relief as her classmates took their individual seats, and she took her own seat next to Kurama's empty spot. She was missing him dearly on the each passing day.
After Biology class was over, it was time for Lunch and Recreation period. Maya was sitting alone on a table at lunch until she noticed that Kaito was placing his bento box on top of the table. He sat across from her.
Maya smiled at Kaito even if she wasn't expecting his presence. She knew he was generally a mean person but underneath the arrogance layer, he was actually a good guy. "Thanks for what you did back there, Kaito. I owe you big time."
Kaito gave Maya a serious look. "Hmph. I didn't do that for you so get it out of your head. I'm rather curious myself of Kurama's whereabouts as everyone else in this building. Is he on another mission from Spirit World?"
"Yeah…you could say that. He left with a fire demon a few days ago. I believe they left to fight somewhere else so they avoid damages around school's property. I'm afraid that Minamino is not allowing anyone to sense his demonic energy."
"Interesting. He doesn't want to be found."
"I guess he's okay and he is doing this mission. He didn't gave me much details about it, which is weird. It was like the given mission is taking it rather on a personal level."
"That is so like him: he has been always so secretive and that's one of the things that I hate that about him. My advice for this occasion: let him do what he needs to do and do not ask questions. I will not lose sleep over this."
Maya nodded in agreement…then again: she was worried. She prayed that everything went well on that mission. She was stupid enough for listening to Kurama and staying behind…
"By the way, how's your training with Master Genkai coming along?"
"I'm working hard! She is so strict but I'm making progress."
"I did some research about your powers, and you have the potential for much more than spiritual awareness. You better not use your newfound powers to help Kurama."
"And why not? That's the whole purpose of this training. I love him and I'll do anything for him."
"You are so delusional, Kitamija; he will be the end of you one day and he has no interest in you other than friendship. Please reconsider my words and forget about him."
"Oh nothing will happen, Kaito. Whenever I'm with him, I feel that I grow stronger," Maya said with hope and optimism.
Kaito just stared at his classmate and decided that was best not to keep talking her out of it. To each its own: "Can't say I didn't warned you."
At the hotel:
Kurama couldn't sleep or eat well for the past four days as he tried to prepare the right remedy for the poisonous plant day and night. He had succeeded in creating a remedy with his own powers that he was sleeping with his head resting in between his crossed arms on the bed before Hiei's legs and his body sitting on a chair.
Hiei regained his consciousness that he slowly opened his eyes…He sat up to find himself without his cloak and just wearing the pants. His boots were clean and placed in the corner.
"Hiei? How are you feeling?"
Hiei turned to look at Kurama, who was already awaken. "Your self-made meds seem to be working and the spiritual energy that I have been getting helped as well. I'm still sort of weak because the cursed plant is still inside me."
"So…you have been listening this entire time?" Kurama asked in surprise.
"I may have been dead as a vegetable but I was conscious this entire time through the Jagan eye," Hiei said that he gave then the other a serious look. "Kurama. You need to tell me the truth about everything. I always knew that you were lying to me."
"I'm sorry. I thought you were gonna hate me for becoming a weak human," Kurama admitted with honesty…
Suddenly, Kurama's face was punched so hard that he fell backwards on his chair.
Hiei got out of the bed to stand next the fallen fox demon, who was wincing in pain. Hiei looked down to him: "That was for your lie, dying on me and leaving Demon World," he said bitterly.
Kurama held his cheek with one a hand: it hadn't formed into a bruise but a little swelling. "I really do deserve it. You can hit me as much as you like if it does make you feel any better," he said in submission because of feeling guilty.
Hiei crossed his arms to his chest. Different thoughts were wandering on his mind seeing the other submissive… "Hmph. I have other ways to take it on you. You will tell me everything that has happened after we take out Majora."
Kurama looked up to Hiei, and he used his elbows from the ground to lift his upper body, "Yes, of course. I will tell you everything you need to know," he said in agreement.
"Good fox," Hiei said…without further thinking, he kicked the bothersome chair away to sit on Kurama's stomach close to the waist.
Kurama blushed at Hiei's unseen action... When he opened his mouth to speak, Hiei closed his eyes, and he leaned down closer to crush their lips together that he wrapped his arms around the other's neck. Kurama didn't hesitated to return the kiss, closed his eyes and he wrapped his arms around Hiei's waist as his body slowly went down until his back touched the floor.
They moaned and kissed each other with passion as if nothing else mattered in this time and space. They were together again after being separate for 14 years. They were to the point of devouring each other: tongues were involved.
Hiei, eventually, broke the kiss as he felt the need to breath. A thin trail of saliva was visible… He had stopped to stare at Kurama.
Kurama raised an eyebrow because he wanted to carry on with their make out section before both got undressed. "Hiei, what is it?" he asked slightly impatient. He at least wanted to grind their bodies together.
Hiei shook his head that he placed his hands in either side of Kurama's head and raised his upper body with his arms extended. "Nothing…I always thought that you looked better with longer hair," he replied. In his mind, he was kissing future Kurama during the kiss. Hiei wondered about the future version of his own lover being completely submissive towards him, especially back on that day when they were training. Hiei realized that he wanted to punch himself: he was a fool for stopping everything when Kurama was shy but willing to be being 'raped'.
Meanwhile, the short haired Kurama was thinking and he broke Hiei's distant thoughts: "Oh that it will take me about a year or so to grow out my hair. I always kept it short so I wouldn't be easily recognized by other demons," he explained calmly as if he didn't suspect anything.
"They can go screw themselves."
Kurama chuckled. "Say no more, love. I'm all yours so we have one job tonight."
Before either could resume their lustful and erotic activity, the two of them could sense a spiritual energy coming from the other side of the city.
"You felt that?" Kurama asked seriously that he loosened his grip on his lover's waist.
Hiei frowned upon sensing the other energy that he decided to get up from his position back on his feet. "Yes. Majora is so dead. Let's go stop that freak once and for all."
Kurama got up to his feet as well and stood before Hiei. "You can stay here for your safety. I was only able to do as much to stop the plant. I only did enough to wake you up and it is not guarantee that you may live through this."
"Then no one can help you defeat Majora. He is weak against my Jagan eye so I'm willing to risk my life here."
"Okay, we are a team then," Kurama said as he placed his hands on Hiei's shoulders. "Just don't die on me. I love you so much," he said lovingly.
Hiei wrapped his arms around Kurama's waist and pulled the teen's body close to him. He looked up to the redhead. "Hey, I still have unfinished business with you, remember? That's enough to keep me alive. Ready to do this, Kurama?"
Kurama slightly nodded and pressed his own forehead with the fire demon's and closed his own eyes. "I'm ready whenever you are," he whispered.
MAJORA'S LOCATION:
With the Jagan eye as a working guide, Hiei and Kurama arrived at an abandoned office building. They came face to face with Majora, who was facing them from the entrance.
Majora a short individual and he was wearing a brown cloak with a rather peculiar mask on that covered all of his face and wore gloves in his hands. He looked at his two visitors. "I was supposed to expect only one of you tomorrow night. No need to reveal your identities: The Spirit Detective and The Forbidden Child from Demon World…the only one whom bears and mastered the powers of the mystical Jagan eye," he said in disdain with a jester type of voice.
Kurama narrowed his eyes at the primary target of the mission: "You either surrender and come with us tonight…"
Hiei took off his bandana to reveal the glowing fake eye. "…Or be prepared to face your weakness, Majora," he said finishing the sentence for Kurama.
Majora thought hard about what to say next. He was cornered and he needed to come up with a quick plan. "You two must fight me first so the Jagan eye can have full effect on me."
It was apparent that the enemy was bluffing: Hiei and Kurama launched themselves to attack in unison.
Majora split himself in three for the incoming attack. He sent his two doppelgangers to fight the duo separately as he stayed behind.
Hiei and Kurama fought with the copies with relative ease. They also both discover that Majora was not an adept fighter. Hiei was the first one to defeat one of the copies followed eventually by Kurama.
Majora was so frustrated that he needed to come up with something to gain the upper hand or will be defeated soon…That Jagan eye made him totally uneasy as he could feel how it drained his artificial magic at every passing second.
"I got you now!" Hiei screamed as he lunged at Majora. Before he could land a fist on the mask, his body became immobilized. After falling face to the ground, he struggled to move a limb and he cried fully in excruciating pain that he coughed up blood.
"Hiei!" Kurama exclaimed as he sensed that the plant was devouring Hiei on the inside.
Majora smirked inside his mask at his handiwork: "The Forbidden Child is out of the fight. I just remembered that I can manipulate that plant to my will alone," he giggled as he could feel his magic powers growing again. He used the plant inside the fire demon's body to absorb the Jagan eye power. He turned to Kurama. "Now it's just you left, Spirit Detective. He will die soon."
Kurama growled as he tried to think for a strategy…He cried in pain as an electric shock went through his body, followed by flying rocks, gust of razor wind and burning flames.
"I'm afraid that without his assistance you are left powerless," Majora said because without the Jagan eye available, the magic attacks were not nullified. "Great! This is more than perfect. Now both of you will die."
"Not… yet…" Kurama said as he tried to keep a strong will after enduring a series of elemental magic attacks. He had some visible bruises along with his school uniform torn up… Out of the blue, Kurama could feel a power surge as his own demonic power stirred from within. His own emerald eyes turned into a golden color. He came to realize that the power surge came from Hiei, and he turned to look at him. "Hiei, is this y-?"
"Use my demonic energy and transform into a demon. Don't hold back," Hiei said as encouragement as he kept passing his own demonic energy to the redhead with an extended hand as the rest of his immobilized body laid on the ground. His hand dropped to the ground as he had little to no power left within him. "Finish that blabbering fool off. I strongly believe that your strength will be the end of it."
Kurama nodded as he had enough power to transform to his demon self. "Hiei...hang in there. I'll save you somehow," he promised as smoke emanated and surrounded the scenery.
Majora could only observe interest Kurama's transformation sequence and his changing silhouette. He allowed the transformation sequence to occur without objecting.
Hiei gasped at the sight of the last stages of the metamorphosis and the smoke cleared…
Majora laughed at the true appearance of the fox demon. "It doesn't matter now that you became the Legendary Bandit to stop me. The Forbidden Child will be the one to die thanks to your awakened demonic power and mine combined. I pulled the strings of that moment you implanted that seed in his body altering details. You were going to do a non-lethal plant while I altered it into a mortal one."
Youko frowned at the Trickster's confession. "I knew that there was foul play involved. You will die immediately without a shred of mercy, Majora," he said coldly as his energy rose to summon the Death Tree from the underground.
The Death Tree grew in a rapid fashion behind Majora: the vines went to suddenly grab each limb, the neck and the waist. Majora was afraid as he was about to be consumed alive. He knew that he was done for as his limbs were melting because of the acid of the vines. Before Majora could even chant the magic curse for Kurama, he spoke:
"This is not over yet, Spirit Detective! At the following date and time, there will be a curse on you that will erase your human and your demonic self from history! You will cease to exist entirely from life and other beings' memories!" Majora exclaimed as he began his chant for placing the curse but he was too late.
"Perish."
The Death Tree obeyed his master as it turned to eat its victim violently. As it happened, it was confirmed that Majora died and the curse wasn't placed.
Youko had turned to Hiei that he didn't bothered to witness his victim dying during the painful process. He helped the fire demon to sit straight while being held with one arm and placed the other hand on the chest. He returned the borrowed demonic energy. Then with the same hand, Youko created some dry green beans and put it in his mouth to chew it into small particles. He leaned onto Hiei to transfer the seeds mouth to mouth, and Hiei would slowly swallow as he received them as if they were kissing.
When the transfusion was finished, Youko broke the kiss. "I have fully removed that plant from your body," he smiled at Hiei as he could tell that the recovery progress was significant. "You should be better now."
The mission got accomplished so Hiei wasted no time on using the Jagan eye to undo the curse that was placed on future Kurama. He broke from Youko's loving embrace to stand on his feet and closed his eye to concentrate.
The Jagan eye stopped glowing after it sucedded in removing the curse. Hiei opened his eyes again to face a curious and quiet Youko: "There. I lifted the curse and from ever happening with the Jagan eye."
"Good call. I—" Youko was cut off as he felt his powers reverting back to his human counterpart.
"Kurama!" Hiei became worried that he reacted by catching the red head from falling, "That piece of shit didn't hurt you?" he tried to help the other to stand on his feet again.
Kurama held onto Hiei for support, "I'm all right," he said weakly. "I need to get some rest. Transforming into a demon in a desperate situation had sure taken a toll on me…"
"Let's go back to my room tonight. No one will bother us."
"Yes, I let my mother know that I'm in a friend's house if she doesn't find me at home in the morning."
With that being said, Hiei used teleportation to go back to the hotel. He and Kurama appeared in the middle of the room after teleporting. As stated, Kurama went straight to the telephone that was on the nightstand to dial Shiori's cell phone number.
"Hello, mother? Yes, I just wanted to let you know that I'm staying at a friend's house tonight to finish the upcoming project for the science fair. Yes, it is about time as well that I learned to socialize with other people. All right, I'll see you tomorrow night. Love you," Kurama said before hanging up the phone. He took a seat in the king-sized bed as he looked at Hiei who had his arms crossed to his chest while standing a few feet away. Kurama knew right away what the other wanted from him…
…An uncomfortable silence grew on the hotel room that Hiei had to break since he was getting impatient. "Well, Kurama, out with it. We didn't come this far for this awkward silence," he said almost sardonically.
"Oh Hiei, you haven't changed at all, I see. Although, you are working for Spirit World and helping humans is a lot coming from you."
"Don't get the wrong idea. It was thanks to you that I ended up serving Spirit World."
"Can I ask you what did I do to you to receive such punishment? It couldn't be that bad, isn't it?"
Hiei took a deep breath and sighed. He almost forgot that he cannot talk about the future while on the past, "You're right…I shouldn't take my mistakes up on you."
"Oh I forgive you, love. I understand that the Human World is not really our place to be for us demons. However, is not really that bad as you think. I have gotten used to it at this point…In fact, I must show you around if it helps at least change your mind."
Hiei rolled his eyes at Kurama's statement. Nothing will change his mind about the Human World, not even with the help of his long-lost partner and lover. "Why are you here as a human of all these places? What happened to you? Why are you working as a Spirit Detective?"
Kurama sighed. He knew perfectly what Hiei was thinking so he should explain himself. He sat on the bed and patted the spot next to him so Hiei can sit and listen. Hiei complied and sat facing before the fox demon to give him his full attention. Kurama began speaking: "I got nearly killed by a Demon Hunter 14 years ago...My soul managed to enter the Human World yet I made a Spiritual Pact that when I was old enough that I would serve Spirit World one day in order to show repentance for all of my sins. Then I found this human woman that I was able merge my soul with the unborn baby."
Hiei was still digesting the youko's explanation... Somehow, he gave his seal of approval to Kurama's humanity as he had a hard time accepting it on his future timeline. "Has your powers matured yet?"
"No, I still cannot withhold fully my true demon form for longer than 10 minutes but soon my powers will fully mature."
Hiei took Kurama's hands with his, and he looked at him dead at the eyes he grew fond of. "…I can wait for that to happen, Fox. We can return together to the Demon World and we can live our lives just like old times."
Kurama was touched he couldn't believe that Hiei went through all this trouble to find him and reunite again. He softly touched the other's hands with his own fingers. However, he had to speak out what bothered him: "Hiei… I'm afraid that have to think about your proposal. I don't want to leave my human mother by herself and I want to graduate from school," he said as an excuse.
The truth was that after Kuronue died years ago, Kurama swore that he will not commit himself to anyone as he was afraid to end up hurt from the loss of losing someone dear and being alone again. All that changed until Hiei came along to save him from the despair, loneliness and the hungry goblin. Kurama still questioned himself what made him fall in love with a lower class and powerless fire demon back on the days…Demons do not fall in love but humans did. It was strictly prohibited for humans and demons from ever forming an intimate relationship and bonding for life, according to the laws of every realm.
Hiei felt something in his heart as he heard those words coming from the fox demon. He felt the need to speak what really lies in his heart but tried his best to ignore it with his mind. "We don't have leave right away so you can finish your studies," he said with reason…However, his heart won over his mind. "I'm making you this offer because…I missed you. It just hurts, and it haunted me that you left me one day without a word. That is the second reason why I had to go through that painful Jagan eye operation: to find you again after finding my own biological family alive," Hiei had expressed openly his feelings to his lover.
Kurama felt how the guilt took over his emotions. He felt like crying hard for leaving Hiei unintentionally. It was the first time that Hiei truly opened his heart out to him and he spoke about his hidden feelings... He placed a hand on Hiei's cheek. "Never I stopped thinking about you; I'm glad that you found me … I love you with all my heart, Hiei, and I missed you too so much," Kurama said in the verge of crying as tears dripped from his eyes.
A tear slipped from Hiei's left eye down to his cheek that it turned into a black hiruiseki stone… The one after another…
'So this is when the urban legend says: The cry of the Forbidden Child, huh?' Kurama thought as he didn't bother to hold back the tears this time and let it fall freely. He thought that Hiei crying was a sight to behold. Just simply beautiful and amazing as it could be. Kurama gathered Hiei in his arms and hugged him with all his might.
As rare as they are, a Forbidden Child happen to be capable of feeling and receiving love (a taboo subject among them) but they are unable to express their own feelings with words or demonstrate affection to their right and chosen lover. Instead, they shed a unique color of hiruiseki stones, and it is said that they cannot bond for life with their chosen lover as much as they want to. If both lovers attempt to defy fate, a tragedy is bound to occur between them from ever being together. In conclusion: Kurama's heart raced as he understood everything… so that meant that Hiei did love him back?
Kurama found himself being hugged by Hiei in return. As he was lost in his thoughts, Hiei had conquered his fears for the time being of returning the given affection…Hiei found himself trembling and his hands were slightly shaking on Kurama's back.
The tears intensified for Kurama: "Hiei… do you… love me too…?" he said as he was lost for words... "Please say you do. I want us to make love tonight and bond together as mates for life. I'm yours as you belong to me. We'll make everything right between us because we are a team. I need you as you need me."
Hiei had an inner battle with himself as he remembered about breaking the promise that he made to Shigure…Yet he was going to give his answer to Kurama no matter what. That promise happened a long time ago and his teacher would probably dismiss it. This is it: there was no turning back…
"Kurama."
Kurama alerted himself; he was ready for the answer. He broke the hug so he could face his lover and hear the words that he wanted to hear for a while. "Yes?" he said as he grew anxious.
"Kurama, I—"
There was a knock on the door:
Kurama stood up quickly from the bed and he did his best to straighten his uniform.
Hiei stood up as well, being annoyed for the uncalled interruption. Who would interrupt them at the middle of this hour?
The door opened to reveal Botan, who had to clap her hands to turn on the lights in the room. "Oh hey, guys. Soooo, I came in a bad timing, huh?" she said as she could sense an awkward silence that had formed between the two demons. "Gee, I wonder why this room was so dark...? Not to mention, it was the best room in the hotel to have the night of your life with a significant other. This room is pretty much where babies are made!"
Kurama cleared his throat and spoke to lower suspicions as Hiei played along. "I assume that Koenma got the report of the mission being completed," he said to remind Botan the reason of her visit for her not to suspect anything.
"Yes, and not only that but the case has been solved rather a day early than expected. Well that's great and bad at the same time. Koenma needs Hiei to go back to his own time so he can erase the event that Hiei ever came to help us before his existence starts making effect here in the past and alters the future where he came from."
Wait a minute. Kurama was surprised to hear that. "You don't say?"
"Yeah, you won't believe it but our actual Hiei is still in the Demon World. His future self demonstrates that he is capable of changing sides. Shocker, is it not?"
Kurama became thoughtful and quiet while Hiei said nothing in return because Botan spoke only the truth.
"Well, Hiei, you got 10 more minutes before you can go back to the future, ok? That is as much as I can allow you. I'll wait for you outside of the hotel," she said before throwing the black cloak and the white scarf back to the owner and leaving the room.
Hiei caught his clothing at ease with one hand and he put his clothes back on…
"Why didn't you tell me that you came from another timeline?"
Hiei was silent for a moment before he could answer the question that Kurama made to him. He looked at him at the eyes: "I wasn't allowed to talk anything about my timeline here in the past as part of the rules. I was hoping that I see you again that I would not make the same mistake that I already did during my timeline. Which is why I accepted to do the mission: to find you again…I have the opportunity here to make things right between us. I don't care about altering both timelines."
Kurama was moved… "Hiei, as much as I love to be with you…I'm afraid that it is best you went back to your own timeline," he said almost sadly. He didn't want Hiei leave but he had to be strong and let go. "Goodbye, Hiei. It's been a pleasure," he said and quickly left the room without looking back. This time, not letting emotions or his heart get in the way like it did earlier.
Hiei couldn't change the past so he had no choice but go back to the future as per Kurama's request.
PRESENT TIME: 30 MINUTES LATER AT MINAMINO HOUSEHOLD
Hiei watched Kurama sleep in his bed in his room from the open window. He wondered how those two looked the same but at the same time the two Kuramas from the different timeline became different from one another.
Kurama woke up and sat on his bed to rub his eyes. He felt a presence watching him for ten minutes…He looked at the window: "Hiei, is that you…?" he smiled as soon as he recognized the figure. He got up from his bed to meet up with the other in his pajamas. "I'm so glad that you made it safe, thanks for what you did."
"Yeah, sure," Hiei said quietly to then look away outside the window.
"Oh I almost forgot. I recovered all my memories while you were gone."
Hiei was a little surprised to hear that he got alerted and he wanted to know more. He turned to look at Kurama. "And…?"
"And I somehow not my demon self. Youko and I became separate entities thanks to that Demon Hunter, Kamui, who is in the Demon World. But still, we may act different, yet we think the same way and hold the same memories."
Hiei found it interesting: "We'll resume training very soon then. One day, we'll go back to Demon World: the hunter will be hunted."
"Sure, I was hoping to hear that from you."
Hiei changed the subject, looking rather intrigued and perhaps somewhat concerned. "So, uh…did you also remembered other things in particular?"
Kurama knew right away what Hiei was referring to: "Now that you mention it, everything has to do with Youko, and that's pretty much about it," he said honestly. He approached closer to Hiei, which it caught the others attention of the proximity. "Although, I can't help myself but to feel attracted to you. It's just something you that I cannot simply resist."
Hiei placed a hand on Kurama's side of the waist. "Likewise."
Kurama blushed at the contact and he placed his hands on Hiei's shoulders. He massaged a little the tense shoulders. "We must take this slow. I wish I can get to know you better. Even if we hung out a lot back in the Demon World, there's still a lot about you that I don't know about."
"Hn. I'll probably allow you to get to know the real me one day, including my own past."
"I'll wait patiently for that day so you can tell me whenever you are ready. I want to know everything—I'll keep it between us. So, does that mean you don't hate me even if I'm a human extension of my demon self?"
"You are different from every human. I'll only make an exception with you and your mother."
Kurama smiled at those words…
Hiei, without thinking, placed a hand underneath the chin to pull the face and kissed the teen on the lips. He pulled away as soon as he realized his impulsive action, which it left Kurama speechless and confused. "Sorry. I didn't mean to do that…Your smile made me do it," he seemed almost embarrassed.
Kurama licked his lips slowly in amazement because he really enjoyed being kissed by the fire demon. He wrapped his arms around Hiei's neck to bring his body closer. "…I have been wanting to do that while I waited for you. So let's do my first kiss this time properly, shall we?"
Hiei felt good that he felt confident to wrap his arms around Kurama's waist. "Here I come," he said as he closed his eyes.
Both lips met slow. It grew to the point that tongues were involved…
They both broke apart that it left Kurama breathless. "Wow!" he said in amazement.
Hiei smirked at him. "I know. You are a good kisser too. I'll let you rest now, Kurama. You must be tired," he said as he tried to let his arms loose from the redhead.
Kurama brought Hiei closer to him again by tightening his arms around the neck. "Stay with me, please. I don't like the idea of you sleeping on the cold outside. I already talked it with my mother, and she says that you are more than welcomed to stay with us. We'll even go shopping to get you clothing of your preference."
Hiei rolled his eyes. "Great. I'll be freeloading on your food, shower and bed in exchange for nothing. I can sleep on a futon just fine," he said accepting the offer just to be closer to Kurama and protect him.
Kurama blushed again. "Um…we can share the same bed. I want us to sleep together."
Hiei raised an eyebrow and did a double look. "Already? I thought you wanted to take it slow."
Kurama giggled. "No, silly. What I mean is that I don't want to sleep alone anymore."
This time, Hiei gave Kurama a look. "I'm not your stuffed animal. You are grown human so you can sleep on your own," he said in sarcasm as he got up from the window and walked a few distance.
Kurama pouted for a moment or two. "Oh, which reminds me, Hiei; If I am not mistaken, I think the guest room is ready for you."
"That's good enough for me. I like having my own space and privacy."
Shiori was right of letting Hiei to have the guest room as his new room, Kurama thought. He walked to the door enough for Hiei to be behind his trail. "This way please."
As they stepped out of the room, they made it right away room was literally next to Kurama's with Shiori's room across the hallway. Kurama opened the door: Hiei's room was quite simple of a window, a bed, a nightstand, a closet and his own bathroom.
"After we go shopping, we can decorate it just the way you like."
Hiei crossed his arms to his chest. "This will do," he said in approval to his new room. Somehow this very room was similar to his own room in the Demon World at his mother's house.
"Okay, welcome to our home, Hiei. I'll make breakfast tomorrow before I go to school."
"Of course. I'll wake up early, and I guess I'll go training or do more chores for the ferry girl as you get out from school.
"Sounds like a plan." Kurama said as he approached close to Hiei and wrapped his arms around his neck again "How about we kiss good night before I leave?" he said a little needy.
Hiei wanted to object and resist... Instead, he closed the door of his new room and he wrapped his arms around Kurama's waist again. "Not so loud or we can wake up your mother," he said in discretion.
Kurama grinned before he leaned down to kiss Hiei again…
Instead, Hiei turned his face away and he sighed. "I must ask you not to fall in love with me if we are going to do this," he said without looking at Kurama.
Kurama pondered for a little: "We really don't have to. We can do this without not feeling anything nor being attached for one another. I understand that we carry out dangerous cases. Having feelings for one another is a liability…And when you go back to the demon realm for good, I might never see you again as I plan to stay here for the rest of my life. This is only temporary."
Hiei faced Kurama again. "You gave me a peace of mind then," he said as he smiled a little.
Kurama was taken back. He didn't think that Hiei was capable doing that aside from expressing his usual emotions. The Jaganshi was a mystery indeed that Kurama wouldn't mind finding out more as it fascinated him. "You should smile more often, Hiei. Come hither," he said flirting before the two kissed each other with passion.
A/N: Annnnd we are done this chapter! So it pretty much explained the title of the story! Yay! I hope it is not confusing! Hiei and Kurama's last mission is on the next chapter!
