No. 5

He dropped us off ten minutes ago. Of course, he had a flash range rover car.

It was just a few minutes away from the house, and it was incredibly kind of him to show me how to get there. It wouldn't take us too long to walk back to the house along the quiet streets.

Placing a kiss on each other their heads he said goodbye leaving us to our own devices.

For at least 15 minutes I stand on mulch while they run around on the equipment above me. I'm too small to climb up into the jungle gym so I put my hands through where I can to tickle and play with them. Each time Anna comes down the slide I worry she'll fall back and hit her head. She's so uncoordinated it's cute. Her siblings torpedo around the park laughing at each other, at me as I chase after them.

I don't even notice their father racing back to us until their all pointing at him excited.

"Hey," he smiles at me reaching down to grab up Anna.

He throws her in the air slightly, enjoying the sweet giggles she gifts him. Chubby legs kick into the air as her small hands hold onto his.

"Back so soon?" I ask.

"I have a slight cold. My throat has been hurting," he winks at me and I melt, "when you're the boss you can do stuff like that. But we need to stay out for a few hours so Tanya doesn't whine at me. She will later but I'm in far too good of a mood to deal with it. So I figured we would take you to lunch to say welcome and show you a proper pub feed."

"Oh you don't need to," I shake my head, "they have a piano lesson remember?"

"We'll get them back in time don't worry," he smiles, "when she asks where you are I'll tell her I treated my children."

"Yes!" Lucy screams out from the top of the play tower.

"Fine," I smile up at her, "but I thought we could actually play soccer first."

Seth watches me as I lean into the back of the pram and pull out a ball that I had found lying in a truck in their playroom.

"No way," he grins at me.

"Yeah way," I laugh, "I don't know how to play very well and I want to learn. Can you teach me, Seth?"

Edward still holds onto Anna as he takes the ball from me.

"It's football here." did he just wink at me again?

Does he want me to combust? Seth races to me taking the ball from his father's hands.

"Let's play," he jumps up and down, throwing it to the ground.

Lucy races to him attempting to kick it out of his path.

"He was telling me he loves it but his parents won't let him play because it's dangerous," I say to Edward.

He looks at me slightly shocked, annoyed that I put him in the same category as his wife. But honestly he was at this point. Difference is he wants to change while she doesn't.

"I'll get him into a team," he says, "I had no idea."

"Now you do know. Your kids need to be kids, Edward. I've been here two days and learned more about them than you know," something comes over me and before I can take it back my hand is on his arm, rubbing slightly in comfort, "I'm here to help you. I can watch your kids when no one can but I can't give you a relationship with them. I can help you."

I expect him to throw my hand off him, but instead, he offers me a stupid crooked grin. The one I'd watched in between my legs last night.

Oh, Jesus. Stop thinking about that brain.

"I have no clue where you came from or why, but with you around, I feel like I'm not such a failure," he covers my hand with his own, "thanks."

"You're not a failure at all. There's just never enough hours in the day. So use this one to show me how I touchdown," I pull my hand back, enjoying the warmth left there by his expensive fabric and soft skin.

"Oh Bella," he laughs loudly.

"That's enough," Edward laughs, taking a bottle of ketchup from Seth's hands.

His food was flooded in it.

"That's flavour," I smile, cutting up Anna's food.

"So much he won't be able to taste the food," Edward puts it aside.

Lucy sits beside me on the bench, practically on top of me. She's become my shadow. Her shoulder presses to my arm as she begins to pick at her food.

"Bewwa," she lightly pats my arm with her small hand until I turn to her.

"Yes, Lucy," I say.

She motions for me to lean down so she can whisper, Edward watches, his eyebrow raised slightly as she talks.

"You told him about soccer, but me too, remember," she whispers.

"You ask him. I'll help you," I say.

"What is it?" He is so attentive when around them, he really shouldn't feel so guilty.

"Seth got to football. I want to do gymnastics," she says boldly.

"Good job," I whisper, rubbing her back lightly.

"Bella are you happy to drive them to these activities when I can't? They have school starting this week and I know you're job description didn't include that bu…"

"Of course," I nod, "I'd be happy to help, Edward. I may need to practice driving on the other side of the road."

"I'll take you for a spin on the weekend and show you. Then we'll sign you both up," Edward smiles at Lucy, "never be scared to ask me something again, sweetheart."

"Mummy said no when I did," she dips a chip into her food before eating it.

"She just doesn't understand. She forgets what it's like to be a little girl," his face looks torn like he's trying hard not to put their mother down, "but Bella and I remember. I'm going to try to be around a lot more. I'm sorry I haven't."

"Your job is important," Lucy nods, "like we learn school."

"That's right, baby girl, but I know I need to stop more," Edward says, "so I will and we'll do stuff like this a lot more."

I can't help but smile at him, be happy for him.

"You guys are so lucky," I say, "your dad is so cool."

Seth is now covered in sauce, he drops his food to stretch his arms out and crashes into Edward's side for a big hug. I laugh as the sauce goes all over Edward's probably expensive shirt.

"Oh Seth," he rubs his son's back smiling, "you're covered in sauce."

"Now so are you," I smile, "it suits you."

For a moment he looks at me, the challenge clear in his eyes. I try not to consider what he's plotting as I turn to attend to Anna, wiping her hands and face with a napkin. As I turn back I wish I'd put more thought into his scheming expression, as his hand smears sauce across my cheek. That's where Seth gets it from.

"You…" I squeal laughing.

"Now so are you. It suits you better," he smirks.

Both of his twins are in hysterics, buckled over laughing so hard I think they'll faint.

Grabbing at his son's plate I managed to get a handful before he snatches the plate back. The kids laugh harder as I lean forward across the table to rub the red sauce into his face.

"Payback," I tease.

Lucy goes to pick up her drink, eyes set on her brother, hopeful to join in.

"No. That's too far," I gasp, grabbing it from her hands.

I laugh so hard my cheeks hurt on the drive home.
