Previously on I Don't Want to Love him, but I Just Do:
· Ali - "Adam? I have no idea. He left to go help Lyn with Sebastian or something like that and I haven't seen him since. He hasn't given me a call or texted me or anything. I've left him more than twenty voice mails and text messages. I'm worried sick, and it's as if he doesn't care..."
· Cat - Dom? My Dom? With another girl? My subconscious started to tell me that Dom wasn't mine anymore, but I ignored it. It's only been two days since our little conversation. He was still mine in my heart no matter how much I wanted to hate him. I just couldn't hate him. He was the father of my child.
· Lyn - This sensation of extreme pleasure was still wildly going through my body as I locked my vision on Sebastian almost killing Tom. The plan had worked... Sebastian realized that he did love me, and he was knocked out of the love potion Monica gave him. But... Tom, ruining the plan, made us fated to each other. What do I do now?
· I looked down at the text message that I had received; it was from Demi. In the hospital. Everything's okay, though. Don't freak.
Chapter 15: The Building
Ali's POV
I dialed Adam's number for the seventeenth time that day. It had been over five days now that Adam mysteriously disappeared. Ring. We have never gone this long without talking to each other. Ever. Ring. Was he thinking of leaving me? Is he in trouble? Is he tired of me? Ring. I shook my head trying to expel the negative thoughts from my mind. Voicemail.
"Is he still not answering your calls?" Liv picked the pieces of pepperoni off of her slice of pizza and popped them in her mouth one-by-one.
"Nope," I sighed, my fingers quivering as I hung up the phone. I brought my hand up and rubbed my forehead between my eyebrows. The tension headache, that I developed the moment I realized that Adam was MIA, striking again. "I'm so worried, Liv. What could he possibly be doing? He's never been so cold with me."
Liv placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder, a smile slightly tugging at her lips. "He will turn up, I promise." Her eyes suddenly started to widen, and she gasped. She smacked me on my shoulder repeatedly, excitement taking over her.
"Ow, ow, ow! What? What?" I asked as I shielded myself from her abuse.
"Ali we're witches!" She exclaimed.
I rolled my eyes at her, "You hit me because you had an epiphany on something THAT WE ALREADY KNOW ABOUT OURSELVES? I'm going to have a bruise for a week!" I rubbed my poor shoulder.
"No, dummy! We can do a locator spell!" she grabbed her book of spells and flipped through the pages. When she finally got to the page she wanted, she pointed her finger to an incantation. "There!" She lifted up the spell book, so I could take a look at it, "I've never done one before, but there's a first time for everything, right? Do you have a map? And anything that belongs to Adam?"
I nodded my head and opened my backpack. I flipped through my books and papers and finally came across my map of Transylvania and the bracelet that Adam left at my house the last time he had gone over.
I proceeded to hand over the items to Liv. Liv grabbed onto the bracelet and held it close to her, closed her eyes, and whispered the spell. Once she was done, the bracelet turned a purple hue and was now floating on its own.
Liv grinned from ear-to-ear, happy that the spell worked on her first try. She followed it, and I trailed behind her. So, a locator spell is what it comes down to, huh?
The bracelet moved towards the exit of the school.
I really hope he isn't in any danger. A knot formed in my stomach.
Lyn's POV
I ran as fast as I could toward the hospital where Demi was. Thoughts of what just happened played in my head. The way he grasped me, and his soft caress on my soul vein brought shivers down my spine. The warmth of his soft, moist lips. The way he trailed his tongue on my lips. The sensation of his…
I scowled once I realized what I was thinking about. All the while still feeling this warm, sweet sensation between my legs. I despised these sudden uncontrollable emotions for Tom. I knew that this was the workings of the Fated Bond. Get a hold of yourself! I slapped my forehead as if this would somehow knock the images out of my head.
I could not believe Tom. How could he have bitten my soul vein knowing that I wasn't sure of what I wanted for my future? I was already so confused for my feelings for Sebastian and, at the same time, for him. He ripped that choice away from me as easily as ripping a sheet of paper.
The reason Tom was under Monica's love potion in the first place was because he didn't want the responsibility of marrying at such a young age or becoming king. Why would he want that now? What has miraculously changed for him? If he really loved me while we were dating, he would have never "pretended" to want to be with Monica. He would have never been under a love potion. All he had to do was tell me the truth; to tell me how he really felt.
I would have understood. He knew I would have appreciated his sincerity. I constantly asked for his reassurance. I mean, what normal teenager wanted to replace their adolescent years to get married at seventeen years old? Or carry the responsibility of the entire country on their shoulders at eighteen? Sometimes I wished that I could be a normal teenager. Sometimes I wished that I could fall in love the traditional way and get married much, much later in life. The way that it was supposed to be.
That was not an option for me. Being the princess of Transylvania meant I must complete that duty to this country.
Why Sebastian accepted my father's offer was beyond me. He had all the right reasons to have denied that offer. He despised me, and I him, for the longest time. He hated my viewpoints on, basically, everything. He hated werewolves, and he never believed in keeping peace with humans. Why would he want to rule alongside me knowing that we are always going to be butting heads?
The way he completely swept me off my feet these last couple of months was astonishing. His piercing green eyes, his overprotectiveness for me, his realization that he was under a love potion when Tom bit my soul vein. All I knew was that I definitely wanted to figure these feelings out. I smirked to myself, but as soon as I started to enjoy the thought of Sebastian's feelings for me, this strong guilt washed over me. I curled my lips in infuriation as I realized it was the stupid Fated Bond was again exerting its influence.
I felt defeated.
Was there any chance that I would be able to break this Fated Bond between Tom and me? Do I actually want to break it? I exhaled as our make-out session danced in my imagination once again.
Even if breaking the bond was possible, would a relationship ever work out between Sebastian and me— My train of thought was interrupted as I crashed full speed into what seemed like a brick wall. I fell backwards and smashed into the concrete as I landed on my behind.
"Well, well, well," the brick wall said, mockingly.
I crawled backwards, frightened. Brick walls couldn't talk...
I looked up and two blurry muscular figures appeared in front of me. Once I thought my eyes were functioning properly, I rubbed my eyes. Since when do these two hang out? Am I dreaming? Was this some kind of a joke?
"Dom? What the hell are you doing with Freddie?" I was as confused as ever. I stood up from the ground and wiped the dust from the back of my jeans.
"Lyn, it's better if you don't ask any questions," Dom crossed his arms. His eyes were locked on me, barely blinking. His amber eyes possessing a dispassionate reflection.
I scoffed, "What do you mean it's better if I don't ask any questions?" I shoved him backwards with as much force that I could muster. I repeatedly started to punch his chest. "You don't get to tell me what I should or shouldn't do after what you did to my best friend! Jerk!" My efforts to hurt him were wasted. My strength was unmatched to his. A bunny trying to attack a lion. His expression still glued to me like stone. I could feel my face getting hot.
"Can I shut her up already?" Freddy grabbed onto my arm, annoyed.
"Excuse you?" I fought through his grasp. "Who do you think you're talki-," Before I could finish my sentence, Freddie hoisted me on his shoulder.
I flailed my arms and kicked him with vigor, but he was also too strong for me. Am I even a vampire? Why is my super strength NOT WORKING?
After a few minutes, I started to smell wet moss and rain. I heard the crunching of leaves and branches with each of Freddie's footsteps. I could not stand it any longer. "Let go of me this instant! Dom, why are you letting him do this? Why are you taking me into the woods?" Worry started to creep up in my stomach; nausea and dizziness coming along with it. "Did Sebastian put you up to this?"
"Freddie, can you be a little more gentle with her?" Dom asked, somewhat of a hint of concern in his voice.
Freddie hurled me onto the grass, knocking all the air out of me. I was paralyzed on the ground. My head hit a rock, and something cold and liquid-y spread around my head.
"You're either one of us or one of them, Dom," Freddie hissed. "We have orders to deliver the princess. If you're too attached, then I'm going to have to tell them that you are not a good fit for the job. Make your choice."
Silence filled the air for what seemed like an hour with this agonizing pain. I was able to slightly look to the side and see black liquid on the grass. My blood. This was most definitely not Sebastian's doing. At least I hoped that it wasn't.
Freddie again lifted me up and threw me over his shoulder. The crushing and searing pain taking over my will to fight through his grasp this time. Dom had made his choice. I lost a lot of blood as grogginess and black spots took over my vision. Before I could fall into unconsciousness, my last thought was: Who are they working for?
…
"Thank you, Dom and Freddie," I faintly heard a woman's voice state with extreme gratitude as I started to wake up. I kept my eyes shut, trying to fool them into thinking that I was still unconscious. My head was throbbing.
"Your highness," I felt Freddie tilt himself forward to curtsey as I still laid over his shoulder.
Your highness? That was not my mom. What the hell is going on?
"What are you going to do with her?" Dom asked in a more serious tone. He did not seem to have the same admiration for their queen as Freddie did.
"What did I say about asking questions, Dominic?" She snapped. "You will do as I say. What I do to the princess is none of your concern."
"Mm," Dom grunted.
"Watch your tone, Dominic, or I will send you to the dungeons with her," she said, mockingly.
"Yes, Queen Forma," Dom uttered.
Queen Forma? As in Monica Forma? Is this her mother? I slightly opened my eyelids to get a glimpse at this Queen Forma. What I saw made me catch my breath. She was a half-human, half-spider creature; straight out of the legend of the aracnidi. The entire top half of her body was human, except for the fact that she had eight brown eyes, and the bottom half of her body was the abdomen of a spider with eight giant, hairy legs.
Freddie looked to the side, and I kept as still as a rock. My hair was pulled forcefully, my head springing backwards. My eyes shot wide open.
"Princess Scar, so you're not unconscious after all," Queen Forma smirked. Her pointy white teeth stuck out through her lips and her dark chocolate hair was pulled into a bun. "Are you ready for your new home?"
I furrowed my eyebrows and gave her the best death glare I could muster, "I will never do anything for you. I don't care how much you torture me, you wannabe queen," I spit straight into her eight ugly brown eyes. "You will never be queen of Transylvania!"
She slowly wiped the spit with one of her disgusting spider legs. She got so close to me that I could smell her rancid breath. "Tie her up and ask one of the witches to spell her mouth shut. Get her out of my site. She's lucky that she is needed alive," her eyes tinkled menacingly, "for now."
Demi's POV
It had been a couple of days since I had been administered into the hospital. Ethan would not leave my side. Not that I was complaining. I had the biggest crush on him since elementary school, but I assumed that he never noticed me. I constantly told him that it was not necessary for him to stay here with me, but every time I brought this up, he would refuse to leave.
He was getting food for me and for himself down by the cafeteria. I grabbed my phone and remembered that Lyn had texted me over a day ago. I am on my way right now. She should have been here by now. What could be holding her up? I dialed her phone number and brought the phone up to my ear. No answer. There was no way that she would tell me she was on her way, and not show up without some kind of explanation.
I decided to call Jandro.
"Hey, Demi, how are you feeling?" Jandro picked up on the first ring.
"I'm doing better. My arms still a little sore," I said, "Um, have you seen Lyn at all in the past 24 hours, by any chance?"
"No?" I could hear the concern in his voice. "Why? Is everything okay with Lyn?"
"She told me she was coming to the hospital to see me over a day ago, and she still hasn't shown up. I tried calling her, but it goes straight to voicemail. Where could she be?"
I did not hear an answer from Jandro. "Hello? Jandro?" I looked at my phone and the call had ended. What the heck?
"Who were you talking to?" I heard Ethan say as he came into the room with two trays filled with roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn. "Brought over some yummy hospital food," he teased sarcastically as he placed the tray of food in front of me. When he leaned forward, I saw a tattoo teasing its way out of the sleeve of his navy blue t-shirt. It was mostly covered, so I couldn't decipher what it was.
He smirked when he noticed me staring and pulled his sleeve down. "I-I, uh," I flashed my eyes away from his tattoo. "Oh, I was talking to Jandro. I haven't heard from Lyn in over 24 hours, but as soon as I told him, he hung up the phone," I said as I tried calling Jandro again, but he would not answer.
Ethan stayed quiet as he threw himself back in one of those uncomfortable reclinable chairs. He ate a big spoonful of mashed potatoes, almost gagging. "I will never understand how humans can eat this junk. Blah."
"You know that you can go home at any point. We're barely friends, Ethan. Why are you so adamant on staying with me?" The thought of Lyn and Jandro slipping my mind.
"I hurt you, and I want to be by your side. This is somewhat my fault even though you were the one stalking me," he chuckled. "Plus, I want to get to know you."
Ethan's phone buzzed. He looked at the notification that popped up, and he quickly stood up. "Actually, I do have to go right now. I'll be back later," he sped out of the hospital room.
"Oh, ok-," I confusingly said. I smiled to myself. I want to get to know you, too, Ethan.
Ali's POV
Liv and I were still following Adam's bracelet as we got closer to the abandoned building that we had seen Ethan leave out of. I could feel my heart speeding up. Was he a rotting corpse? I ran towards the door of the building as the bracelet sped up. I opened the rusted door as quickly as I could, but the smell of rotting flesh smacked me in the face. I gagged.
"Ali! Hold up," Liv panted as she caught up to me. "Oog," she gagged alongside me.
"Liv…" I could barely get the words out of my mouth. "I-Is Adam d-d-dead?"
"He will be if you don't do as I say."
I looked up and saw Ethan holding an oblivious Adam, tilting his head to the side so that his neck was exposed right under his extended fangs.
"LET HIM GO," I struck a defensive charm his way, but a force field shielded it.
"Okay," Ethan chuckled evilly, "let's try this again. You two will come with me or I will suck the life out of your boyfriend. You will pass through that force field with my permission, and you will follow me."
My legs felt like mush. I looked quickly at Liv who was uncontrollably shaking. I grabbed onto Liv's arm and walked, almost limping, towards the force field. Why was Ethan threatening Adam? What in the hell is going on?
"Why are you doing this, Ethan?" Liv asked, half-shouting.
Ethan's fangs pierced Adam's neck. We ran through the force field at full speed.
"Okay, okay, we're across the force field! LET HIM GO!" I shrieked as my knees started to buckle. I was on the ground, crying without control.
I heard a hard thump on the wood floors. I looked up as I shook uncontrollably. Adam was completely lifeless on the ground. "ADAM!" I grabbed his face. "NO, NO, NO! WHAT DID YOU DO?" I looked up at a blurry Ethan. "You said you wouldn't kill him if we did what you asked! WHAT WAS THE REASON?"
I looked back down at Adam. "Adam, baby, wake up," I shook him. When he didn't respond, I shook him with more force, tears streaming down my face.
"I follow my queen's orders," Ethan stated. "You WILL come with me."
"Like hell we will!" shouted Liv as she tried to shoot a spell at Ethan, but to no avail. "What?" she asked, confused. "My magic isn't working. Why isn't my magic working?" fear crept in her voice.
More vampires started to appear.
"Our queen has a job for you," Ethan smirked.
