Today I used my magic powers
For the very first time.
I didn't think that I could do it,
But now I know that I'm
Getting better, getting stronger
Though at the time I felt so weak,
You were with me while I conjured
Up my magical streak.
I didn't know I had it in me,
And I doubted even then,
But you extended out your paw
And reminded me of when
Even you were so afraid
To try and change the world you knew
And from the glimmer of your fur
A little spark away you blew.
It came and rested on my shoulder
And you smiled through your eyes,
Told me magic held within
Can never, ever touch the skies.
Then the spark grew ever brighter
And my eyes I had to squint.
When they opened you were gone,
But you left a little print
On my heart where you had been there,
And I knew that you'd return
For to master all my magic,
By myself I had to learn.
And after it was said and done,
And I sent sparks a-flying,
Sure enough, you came back to me,
Your support ever undying.
And I knew that you had been with me,
In your own special way,
As I used my magic powers
For the first time ever today.
