The next day, Jack and Goldilocks took a walk and watched Bree and Conner "play."
"Oooh," said Jack.
"Woo-hoo!" teased Goldilocks.
"What?"
"What?"
"Uh, but you..."
Goldilocks hurried away. "I have to check something with Froggy," she fibbed. Jack glanced at her suspiciously. Goldilocks hurried down the street and met Alex.
"Hey, could you help me settle Jack? He's out of his mind," she said urgently.
"He's always out of his mind," joked Alex. "Who carries an axe around?"
Goldilocks rolled her eyes. "Now you? Please don't mention my best sword."
"I'm just kidding around!" said Alex. "Can't you take a joke?"
Goldilocks's face flushed. "Yes, I can! Now, come and help me settle him!"
Alex and Goldilocks hurried to the closest bench, on which Jack was sitting.
"Jack, I'm not all adult-like!" said Goldilocks.
"Let her be!" complained Alex. "She hasn't changed! Got it?"
Jack sighed. "I vow to never treat you strangely again."
Goldilocks and Alex looked at him. "I hope you keep your promise," said Alex.
And Goldilocks just replied, "Hero's tired. Go!"
