The golden-brown tabby she-cat watched from where she was tucked in the highest depths -yes- of the tree as another author finished their rant. In truth, she was scared to get down, as a lot of the cats were now threatening the "mouse-brain who started this" to death, hell, and even further if they could. Oh well, she had author powers. She could easily get out. They knew her name, but most of them didn't know what she looked like, sounded like or was like, so she was safe for the time being.
Oh wait, no she wasn't.
Her silver tail twitched in frustration as she realised that Bluestar, Lionheart and the etcetera gang from the initial rant were among them. Heck, most of StarClan was there. Surely one of them had seen her too. Her claws sank into the bark.
I need to give another rant...but I don't quite fancy having my throat torn out by a mob of angry ghost cats...what to do...
Eventually, she decided, and after taking a deep breath she leapt down from the tree. She strode casually towards the group, and barely any of them looked at her as she slipped into the crowd. It was only as she got closer to the front, where the more important characters that had been the subjects of many rants stood, that there was an ear-splitting screech of "YOU!" and she was tackled to the ground by Bluestar.
Heads turned to look, eyes widening at the fury of the blue-grey she-cat.
"How dare you come back here after creating this mess? You should belong in the Dark Forest!" she snarled.
The golden brown tabby struggled under her rough grip and pricking claws, but she couldn't escape.
"B-Bluestar? Who's this?" Firestar asked as he noticed Lionheart and Whitestorm see and begin growling.
"Who's this? Who's this? Who's this?! Well, let me tell you!" Bluestar cried, kicking the cat slightly, "This piece of scum is KT-FeatherSage, or KT as she is more commonly known, the idiot and fox-heart that started this rant challenge!"
There were howls of abuse and anger thrown at the she-cat, but the tabby merely stopped struggling and smiled. Even as Bluestar's claws curled deeper into her shoulders and the crowd of furious spirits crept closer, many of them wanting to attack. She just smiled.
"Kill her!"
"Banish her to the Dark Forest!"
"Leave her to bleed to death."
"Kill her as many times as she comes back!"
But KT just smiled.
"Go on then," she said eventually, "kill me. If that's what you really want to do."
"Oh I will." Bluestar growled, opening her jaws and lunging down at her throat. But as she got there, she found herself freezing. Not being frozen or stopped by some magical force, but just hesitating. Yowls of encouragement were thrown up from the crowd, and she pushed herself to do it, but found she couldn't. No matter how hard she tried.
"You can't, can you?" KT asked after a minute or so, and the crowd fell to deathly silence.
"What kind of trap is this?" Bluestar hissed, lifting her head back up again and trying to strike down with her claws only to face a similar hesitation.
"It's no trap, it's just my willpower to live. My determination to not die. It's greater than yours and it's stopping you." she replied smoothly, smiling.
This infuriated Bluestar. "Stop speaking riddles and tell me straight. What is it?"
"I told you. Determination. Willpower. Perseverance. I don't care what you call it. It's stronger than yours."
"Oh yeah? Well what if I say I'm determined to kill you, no matter the consequences or the damage it causes, or how much everyone hates me?" and she snapped down again to be once again paused.
"The will to live is stronger than the will to kill, unless it's powered by so much hate that it blinds the attacker. You don't want to do this, do you? Somewhere deep down, you know I'm an innocent cat, who didn't really mean to release a flood of authors on to you, and you know killing is wrong."
Bluestar hesitated again and she wasn't even trying to kill her.
"Think about it. Sure, the other authors might seem even more annoying the more that they come to rant, and new ones are just new problems to worry about, but is it not nice seeing other peoples' points of view? Even if they are shouting? It just shows how passionate they are. Isn't it something to add a little action to this little spirit-world? And we've had family reunions, praise for good characters, and even people shining the light on the characters that others perceived as evil. It's a common author trick that when you're writing in the perspective of a character that hates someone, they only see the character in a bad light, and so we do too. Like with Willowshine. From Leafpool's perspective, she was the sweetest little thing ever, (and she still is!) but from Jayfeather's she was the snarkiest and most annoying piece of sh-uh...fox dung, but only because he snapped at her and caused them to argue and hate each other. She's still nice, but the authors make us hate her from Jay's perspective."
There were some murmurs of agreement from the crowd, and not just because of the Willowshine point. It was like with that boy and the bipolar personality thing (credit to ResX), she was ranting but in such a steady, kind and calm, subtle way that you had to listen and agree with her. Most cats hadn't even noticed she had started ranting. Even Bluestar looked hesitant to scream any more offences at her. She stepped off KT and she she-cat got up with a grateful look. But one cat wasn't done with her.
Goosefeather marched forwards and shoved her roughly, and the crowd fell silent once more save for a few hisses.
"No matter what you say or do, no matter how kind you act, you've still sent random, annoying mouse-brains (no offense, anyone) to infiltrate StarClan and yell at us. I'll take it upon myself, no matter who complains, to kill you and banish you to the Dark Forest, and I will break past your 'willpower' to do it. I'll blind myself in hate if I need to. Just because you deserve the Dark Forest!"
KT studied him for a long heartbeat as he braced himself to attack. "I deserve the Dark Forest? What about you then? Weren't you the one who watched as Crookedkit was injured and nearly drowned? That caused him to be hated by his mother. Sure, she was a biased, hated perfectionist of a mother who doesn't deserve two sons an a mate like that, but he still had to live in despair. And you ordered that attack on WindClan for no reason. Bluestar and Snowfur's mother died in that attack because you ordered it on the Medicine Den and Hawkheart killed her. That hit them both like a monster -uh, sorry Snowfur-and dragged Bluestar down into depression for about a moon, if not more."
Mutterings followed this as glances were thrown at Goosefeather. He looked around and then backed into the crowd, grumbling under his breath.
KT turned around and beckoned Tallstar, Palebird, Sandgorse and Woollytail forwards. "That brings me onto another point. Sandgorse, you hated your son when he was doing what he wanted to do and did best. It's not up to you to decide his future for him. If anything he revolutionised the Clan by keeping them above ground to hunt more rabbits together instead of digging hiding spaces under the ground and avoid anymore cave-in deaths and accidents. Palebird, you were distant from your son when he needed you most, and said that you needed more time to recover from the painful kitting, but then decided to have kits with someone else. I mean, no one stays on one relationship forever, I know, and Tallstar should've maybe been a bit more supportive, but he was altogether right. You moved on in a way that seemed like it was replacing him and Sandgorse, and then you gave those kits all the love he deserved and more. And we have that moment when you said that the kits kept them awake all night talking about the Gathering because he told them. Surely they should've been told about it before? Heck, isn't that something the queens tell their kits when they want a story? What if it was someone else? They must've overhead multiple times that day, yet you blamed it on the son you neglected and didn't even tell off the kits. Surely you'd scold the kits about talking all the way through the night until they kept quiet? Or did you just not so that you had something to blame Tallstar for in the morning? He saved those kits from a hawk, and you didn't even thank him. Just stayed bitter and distant with him. He played with those kits, told stories to those kits, and those kits looked up to him. He had no quarrel with them even though he had every right to because of you. Yet you continued to neglect and blame him. I know I shouldn't be wishing harm upon the kits, but if Tallstar hadn't built up such a bond with them then I would've been hoping they all died so that you would have to go through the grief again as punishment. Or that they all hated you because of what you did to Tallstar because they overheard warriors talking about it and turned their backs on you. That would've been so much better. Yet you smother them with love and the love that was reserved for Tallstar. You don't deserve any of them as you children."
As she spoke, Palebird felt herself grow guiltier and guiltier. Had KT yelled at her she would've just been offended and probably angry, but because she spoke softly and surprisingly emotionally it just increased her growing guilt and regret.
KT finished with a sigh. "Alright, I'm done. I hope you've enjoyed your time with all the authors. I hope you enjoy it with those still to come. I hope your eyes are opened. Bye, StarClan."
And she turned around and walked back away to wherever she called home. StarClan was silent, save for a few murmurs of agreement. Bluestar felt bad she'd attacked her. She stood on the rock that the author's (except KT and a few others) had been using and addressed the crowd.
"Alright then, KT-FeatherSage has permission to walk among StarClan whenever she feels fit. We've all been shown something new today and all other days of ranting. Many have made us realise things, but only a few have made us feel bad and long for change. This rule may only be brought back if she gets angry. You feel guilty, don't you? I think she did too, but sad for Tallstar. She's empathising, and only a few others have done that. But I do want some more doughnuts. Anyway, enjoy the rest of the day until we are ranted at again, StarClan."
KT heard this faintly as she walked off, smiling sadly to herself.
Soon, she thought, soon they'll see
Very soon
She found herself at the top of a cliff, far-ish from the place authors were gathering. She padded to a cosy hollow under a tree supported by the sturdy roots and settled down in a mossy nest.
Soon
This thing is longer than most of the chapters of Warriors High.
That's how passionate this was XD
So thank you everyone for reading, thanks for all your reviews last time, and thanks everyone for participating in the challenge. It is not over, we'll keep it going for as long as it lasts, but I have the feeling that this will be one of the things that we think dies but then comes back again.
Like my computing google classroom
So anyway, thanks for everything, and enjoy whatever you do now!
