EPILOGUE

March 2nd 2015. Location: Chicago Port, Calumet River, Chicago

Jemma Simmons walked up the final storey of stairs in the red brick Chicago building. She had passed all of the doors into the apartments and could finally see the door at the top of the staircase.

"Oh, thank goodness. I wish there'd been an elevator" Jemma said to herself.

She had climbed all six flights to reach the roof.

Jemma walked out onto the flat roof and was blinded by the dazzlingly bright sunlight. She saw a dark human shaped shadow on the next rooftop over and before her eyes could adjust, the shadow was standing directly in front of her.

"Hello Greer, how are you?" Jemma asked politely.

"I'm good thank you Jemma" Greer purred in response."

"I hear you're doing good work. Chicago's crime rate has really fallen lately."

"Yeah, I do my best. So, you called?"

"Oh, yes, I have something for you."

Jemma reached into the right pocket of her burgundy blazer and pulled out a simple silver necklace with a circular silver pendant engraved with a cat.

"I thought you might like this" Jemma said as she handed the necklace to Greer.

She could see that Greer seemed wary and confused.

"It will change your appearance, like a cloaking device, to as it was before the Ani-mator did… what he did" Jemma explained.

"I'm sorry that we let him. It was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s responsibility to stop and we weren't fast enough to catch him. Hopefully this makes up for it. And there are no tracking devices, I promise."

Greer smiled at Jemma.

"Thank you, that's very kind of you."

"I can explain how it works over some tea and cake if you'd like."

"I'll meet you in the coffee shop in this building, I'll order your tea for you" Greer replied.

With that, she put on the necklace and leapt off the building, down to the alley below.
