Diana awoke with a gasp.
She took in her surroundings. She wasn't in her room.
She made an effort to get up, but two surprisingly resilient arms held her back.
"Diana", a thick, sleep-ridden voice spoke. "You ok?"
Diana turned her head. Oh. Right. She was cuddling with Akko and they fell asleep.
This new development between them was as surprising to them as it was to everyone else. And who wouldn't be? Akko was loud, impulsive, compassionate to a fault and could barely ride a broom. Diana was composed, calm, and already on her way to become the best witch Luna Nova Academy has ever had, and she's only on her first year. Diana and Akko were the exact opposite of each other in every shape, way and form.
But yknow what they say about opposites.
It'd been gradual at first. As Akko began to show more and more of what she was capable of, Diana couldn't help but take a liking to the airheaded brunette. Akko had a way of getting to people even when said people didn't want her around, and the next thing you know you're already friends with her and breaking into another school with her. (The day she told Diana about her little escapade with Amanda she understandably freaked out, and then laughed fondly about it)
But it all came to a head when she went with her to the Cavendish mansion.
From the moment before she left Luna Nova, Akko had been right about everything, of course. Diana loved Luna Nova and wanted to become a witch more than anything, but Diana had duties as a Cavendish. She had to take responsibility, ditch these childish dreams behind, become head of the family. Those duties had to come first, Diana told herself as she left Luna Nova that night as she tried not to think about her memories there. About Akko.
Akko.
She knocked some sense into her. Akko taught her that she didn't need to sacrifice what she deemed as "childish dreams" in order to succeed at what she wanted. She brought a sense of levity that she didn't know was missing from her life.
They stopped a freaking missile together, good lord. And here they were. Hopelessly in love with each other, two months into their new bond.
Snapping back into the present, Diana took a look into her girlfriend's gorgeous brown eyes and answered.
"Yeah.", she said and pressed the softest kiss into Akko's smiling lips, which the brunette happily reciprocated, sighing happily. When they broke apart, Diana continued, "everything's perfect."
Akko hummed happily and hugged Diana to her chest, resting her head on top of hers. Akko kissed Diana's head and let out a mumbly, "love you", before falling back asleep immediately.
Diana chuckled lightly before taking one of Akko's hands and giving it a gentle kiss. "Love you too, Atsuko.", she said, and she closed her eyes, falling asleep just as quickly in Akko's arms.
Things couldn't be better.
