The best way of describing Neptune's Mirror changing was almost akin to switching between television screens. To some, seeing them was entrancing as actually television screens. The sights, the sounds; everything felt like home. An easy escape back to a time where many never once had to think twice about things. Before they were thrown into this place. How a luxury was lost in the current times.

If only its use was for anything other than its current, twisted use. The simple thought made Kamden sick.

Kamden was able to land safely, the power of the Tempest Core quickly reacting to falling. Creating a cushion for Kamden and his Duel Runner to land safely after Sabrine pulled off that little trick. The ground collapsing was one trick Vestige used, and they would do worse to get what they wanted. Which made him understand more how disgusting they all were.

Kamden felt the winds stir as he heard something nearby. Taking a look, he saw Niles and Yuto had landed a bit more roughly than he thought. Which didn't help the fact Yuto was injured. Most likely from Sabrine. If he could, he'd lend his vehicle to Niles and get them to safety. But he couldn't. Niles didn't seem like he knew how to drive one. Meaning, Kamden had to win without any more casualties. All he had to account for was Sabrine. Whenever she was around, Sabrine had a trick up her sleeve. No matter what name or face she had; she was always a threat.

"You know, if it were just the two of us, I would have loved to lay back and relax. Watch everything unfold, but where's the fun in that? Not like this is a kid's show anymore," The Vestige Duelist playfully stated.

Sabrine had safely landed back on the ground. Most likely because of her skill set and the fact it was her monster who created this strange dimensional field. Which now was where Shun and Sora's Duel was. The sight would have made Kamden sick if it was his first experience with such power. Though, thankfully or regrettably, it wasn't his first nor would it be his last.

"As much as I'd love for us to continue, could we stop for a moment? I'd love to see this rematch between Shun and Sora. They never really did have a proper rematch in the show," Sabrine offered as her monster was by her side. "If you do, I promise to give you an advantage once we continue."

"Like we should believe anything you say! You're the reason any of this is going on!" Niles shouted, still supporting Yuto, who seemed to be a state of shock. Kamden was unsure it was a good or bad thing. "Once Shun finds out what you're doing-!"

"It won't matter what you say. They cannot see, hear or feel you. It is like watching a television show. All you can do is observe what will happen." Sabrine happily said, clasping her hands together. "Not like a character like yourself can even understand that simple concept. Allow us 'real' people to talk or I can do more than simply cause a minor inconvenience to your little buddy bro-bro."

"Have you really lost your tact for speech?" Kamden decided to get attention on him. "I thought you weren't that discriminatory."

"Oh shut up. There are things not even a character can understand. They are perfectly malleable into whatever we desire or need. No free will means no ability to change," Sabrine rambled on. Not bothering to even consider the feeling of others around. "I could care less about whatever little admiration you might have toward a character. They don't matter at all; all your efforts into helping them mean nothing when we're all in danger of dying! Those beliefs are what caused this to happen in the first place. And I'll be damned if it will happen again."

"Sabrine, even if you can't bear to like them, you must know that this destruction isn't right!" Kamden refuted her.

"I know damn well what I'm doing!" She yelled at him. "It is you who doesn't know anything!"

"...You are the same as before." Kamden muttered before his monster began to growl. "And if that means I have to defeat you again, I will!"

"You won't have the chance. Anything hindrance will be dealt with!" Sabrine hissed out. "And our battle isn't over just yet. And you won't have a chance to win!"

Astrollite Valkyrie Neptune's mirror began to glow, appearing as if it was charging up an attack directed not at Kamden, but at Niles and Yuto. The Ritual Monster unleashed its attack of pure light. Niles instinctively went to protect Yuto but Kamden reacted first. Reincarnation Dragunity Knight - Hrotti was quick to fly down, protecting them before the WIND-Attribute monster retaliated with a sword created of wind. Flying straight at Sabrine.

Once again, the Astrollite Duelist dodged out of the way. Her monster, as well as Kamden, understood exactly where they stood. At least he didn't attack her at that moment. Meaning, like always, Sabrine was the one to break her own words. Fitting, actually.

Though her little stunt didn't go unpunished. The wind sword had, while being directed at Sabrine, been more aimed at her Duel Disk. Considering how valuable it was, the only other way to force a Duel to end was to damage it. Enough to either force them to retreat or destroy their capability to Duel. A dishonest move, but not out of the question.

Sabrine must have not noticed since her scowl was more toward him than her own person. "You're nothing but a nuisance, aren't you? Fine, if this means ending you here… I'll gladly comply!"

Yang had the location on her Duel Disk. The winding caverns and tunnels underneath the city didn't seem apparent. But by their own design, clearly had distinct marks of being created by something other than man-made. To many, it might seem naturally made. To the keen eye, however, it was anything but man-made or natural. A Core created this. One of the four they were looking for. Slumbering right underneath a bustling city. A perfect cover, considering it was everything the Core wasn't.

"Soon… Soon you'll finally become mine," Yang muttered as she continued deeper down the tunnel. "And afterward, we will be one step closer…"

Other than Yang, she couldn't hear anything else in the tunnel. Deathly still and pregnant with silence, it seemed almost inhabitable. Just like a Core would want. To be in hiding, most Cores choose isolation. Rather, one that still allowed them a proper escape route. Mainly toward wherever Duelists were being cultivated. Allowing them to mask themselves in Duels. A cover that Yang knew more than anybody else.

Which was why, by acquiring a single Core, Yang could eliminate that problem. A Core could never fully deactivate their power. Therefore, it always created a signal. One that could further be detected by her work if she could have one in her possession. The current model could only do so much. But with a refined example and proper subject in which to proceed with tests, that could change. All their big problems regarding Cores would vanish. All that it required was just one Core in their possession.

This Standard world, the dimension of whatever plane of existence this place was had one. The exact thing they had sought out for so long. And by finally claiming it, all would finally be in place.

An alarm on her Duel Disk alerted the woman. She stepped aside, taking a quick break as the location was near. To answer the call and take a small break. Before she'd confront and finally acquire the Core. Then, at long last, finally, change things for the better.

"Better have some good news for me, Kaiser," Yang was quick to speak to who called her; she knew exactly who had this contact and who would most likely be calling at this time.

"Depends on what you would see as 'good news.' Last time, you nearly had my head," Kaiser responded on the other end. The faint sounds of a battle could be heard. At least, she thought so.

"Unless you have something of note to offer me, I am in the middle of a very critical extraction. If it isn't about the Pendulum Data, then I'm permanently blocking you from ever contacting me again."

"How rude of you. For once, I thought you'd like to know about a certain development. While I don't have the Pendulum Data you desire, I did find another source of Pendulum Data. you recall the two creators of Pendulum, don't you?" Hearing Kaiser brings up that did make her angry.

"For the last time. There is no point in acquiring either Yuzu or Yuya. Even if Zarc and Ray were the 'creators' of Pendulum Summoning, it doesn't matter. I cannot get any proper data from them. The best course of action, as decided by the Council, was to-!"

"Yeah yeah yeah. I get that bullshit. But hear me out, I'm not speaking of Yuzu. The Bracelet girls are completely useless in the grand scheme of things. Not even her precious father could properly get her back. However, what we do have is Zarc. Or rather, Yuya. Now while the chipper little bag of problems hasn't hopped right back into the picture, the dragon boys are attracted to each other. Yuya to Yuto, Yuto to Yugo, and Yugo to Yuri-" He didn't get to finish as Yang simply just ended the call. Making sure to also block him from messaging her.

"...So, your kind continues to cause problems. Your stench more than proceeds whatever presence you try to mask," A feminine voice echoed in the cavern, but not from Yang.

"This voice…" Yang combed a few strands of her hair back. Having to adjust her hair into a new bun was troublesome. But certainly worth it if this was who she thought it was. "You must be the guardian of the Core, aren't you? Makes my job a lot easier now."

"Continuous invasions into worlds, not your own to plunder rewards never earned or deserved. You truly are no longer human." The voice in her mind said once more as Yang decided to walk into the main chamber. To finally face this so-called guardian and be done with it.

Entering the main chamber of the cavern did look like one. But with how more neatly it appeared, it did hold something. Hanging from the ceiling in the midst of stalactites was something truly brilliant. More so than any sort of diamond.

"At last, there you are. A Core in all its glory. Soon to be mine," Yang grinned ear to ear. "Despite your cage, I can easily free you once more."

"Enough!" Yang jumped back as suddenly the ground shifted. The cage with the orb higher above as the ground caved below.

However, the Vestige Duelist was quick to dodge out of the way, activating her Duel Disk as a ping occurred on her tracker. Across the pit create stood a woman with long orange hair. Yet Yang instantly knew it was a monster from its appearance. Clearly pissed out and defensive.

"I won't allow your kind to have it! Not after what stains your hands," The monster spoke while a brownish hue covered both hands of the creature.

"I suppose I suspected as much, but if you're the current guardian… then by beating you, it is mine, correct?" Yang smiled before checking her Duel Disk, mainly to ensure the Deck she had was correct. Indeed, it was. "Then I'll gladly indulge a few my Dueling skills toward acquiring it myself."

"As if you could ever acquire it." Blue eyes narrowed. "Time after time with your invasions, it has only strengthened the position that your kind should have never possessed them. And I intend to ensure that is the case."

"Oh really, if that's so, we should have a proper Duel. One that determines if you're still worthy of maintaining its power." She offered a deal. "A means of a test that I will then showcase my own superiority against the likes of you."

"If I have to remove your kind from this place, then so be it!" The magician looking monster declared as it stood. "And after I defeat you, I'll make sure the only thing you're getting is far worse than death."

"I'd like to see you try," Yang laughed a bit at the threat. "But if I win, you're going to become quite a lovely little subject for my experiments."

A faint outline of a Dueling field as the monster seemed to manifest a Duel Disk for itself.

"Let's Duel!" Yang declared while the monster stayed silent.

Monster: 8000

Vs

Dr. Yang: 8000

Yang only managed to take a look at her cards before feeling something rough. Her eyes widened, noticing that stalagmites on the ground had nearly skewered her skin. However, the Vestige did notice a card pierced clearly by the stones. Overriding the Field Spell Slot.

"We duel under my rules, Vestige. Core Caverns activate; Come forth Iron Apprentice!" The monster cut her off as a small male-looking monster jumped out from the pit. Landing upon a platform of iron, match its own armor as it held a shield.

Iron Apprentice: Level 3 EARTH Rock/Effect ATK: 1200 DEF: 1300

"Iron Apprentice, bring forth your ally!" The monster said as out from the pit came another monster. Silvery-white in color and holding a shield as well, but it was thinner than its other ally's own shield. "Aluminum's ability allows me to add a Level 4 or lower EARTH monster from my Deck to my hand. Then I play the Ritual Spell Tectonic Transformation! I Tribute both Iron and Aluminum on my field. Bond together matters of life to protect your master! Ritual Summon! Come forth: Level 6 Crust Magician!"

Aluminum Apprentice: Level 3 EARTH Rock/Effect ATK: 0 DEF: 2100

The two low-level EARTH-Attribute monsters crumbled to stone before being set upon a stone altar. One that slowly morphed into a humanoid figure made of stone. Dressed in silver garments, their weapon appeared to a staff with a green gem, matching the one visible jewel forming its eye. It landed on the field, creating its own platform while in defense mode.

Crust Magician: Level 6 EARTH Spellcaster/Ritual/Effect ATK: 1400 DEF: 2300

"...I see, so as this Core's protector, you've been granted the ability to create your own Deck. As with providing you a proper Field Spell from the start. If only that was impressive," Yang made her own observation audible. "But the choice of Rituals… I would have expected something else considering…"

"As if your comments matter to me. Crust Magician gives me an EARTH Ritual Monster from my Deck to my hand," The monster declared, checking the two cards added to her(?) hand. Then the two took refuge in her(?) hand as she grabbed two other cards. "I Set these and end my turn."

Yang couldn't help but slowly clap. Clearly having a bit of fun with sarcasm. "Oh well done, but whatever you have planned, it won't last for long. Draw!" She looked at the card she drew then back to her hand. "Ugh, forget I had this one equipped. Oh well, I can manage this. I'll start this off with a free Special Summon. As you control more monsters than I do - even if it is a miserable one - I Special Summon Evilswarm Mandragora!"

The corrupted plant hopped onto the field, but before it could seemingly float over the pit, the cavern reacted. A platform rose up for the monster, but an orange sort of magic struck the creature. Causing it to whimper, its attack reduced.

Evilswarm Mandragora: DARK Plant/Effect ATK: 1550 - 500 = 1050 DEF: 1450

"No matter; this won't hinder my plan. I Normal Summon Evilswarm Castor and after your little field spell…" She waited for the effect to pass. "I use Castor's effect to Normal Summon Evilswarm Salamandra!"

Evilswarm Castor: Level 4 DARK Warrior/Effect ATK: 1750 - 500 = 1250 DEF: 550

Evilswarm Salamandra: Level 4 DARK Dinosaur/Effect ATK: 1850 - 500 = 1350 DEF: 950

"Now, here's where I'm going to put a stop to your little tricks before they become bothersome. Using both my Level 4 Castor and Mandragora, I will command the Overlay Network to form!" Raising her hand up, splintering into existence appeared a twisted portal. Then both Dark-type monsters vanished into it, leaving Salamandra alone. "Forces of the darkness, heed my command and arise for your grandmaster! XYZ Summon! Come forth! Rank 4! Evilswarm Ophion!"

Emerging out with two dark spiraling Overlay Units was the monster in question. Forcing its way down, crushing the ground that tried to settle its landing. Even when the Field Spell's effect kicked it, it barely seemed to phase the monster.

Evilswarm Ophion: Rank 4 DARK Dragon/XYZ/Effect ATK: 2550 - 500 = 2050 DEF: 1650

"Using XYZ Monsters while the originators of them suffer… your kind is truly deplorable." The monster stated as the Ophion gazed down.

"I have no need to shred a single bit of compassion toward them and neither toward you. Just like my own people, I will use whatever means to achieve our goals. Which shall begin by activating this: Infestation Soul! When it's activated, I can add an Infestation card to my hand. Then, since you control fewer monsters than I do, Infestation Soul gives my monsters a power boost."

A dark aura surrounded both monsters as they let out what should have been a roar. Yet it sounded more like a yowl.

Evilswarm Salamandra: Level 4 DARK Dinosaur/Effect ATK: 1350 + 1000 = 2350 DEF: 950

Evilswarm Ophion: Rank 4 DARK Dragon/XYZ/Effect ATK: 2050 + 1000 = 3050 DEF: 1650

"Now, I'll start to eliminate you from the picture! Battle! I'll destroy your Ritual Magician with Salamandra," The dinosaur monster began to charge, preparing to strike the Ritual Monster. "And then with that monster gone, Ophion can strike you at full strength!

Despite its best effort, the Ritual Monster fell, crumbling to stone and dust in an instant. The small explosion barely phased the opponent. Yet when the XYZ monster unleashes its dark attack, mixed with a chilling effect, did the monster react. Feeling damage as parts of their visible skin and attire started to crack. Even then, the parts that started to crumble had frozen a bit at the edges. The cavern itself also reacted in a similar way.

Monster: 8000 - 3550 = 4450

Vs

Dr. Yang: 8000

"This is only the start of what I'm capable of producing. And you're also locked from Special Summoning Level 5 or higher monsters due to Ophion." Yang explained as both her monsters returned to her side. "That might have been a convincing facade, yet it clearly shows the weakness of your kind. Unable to even block a simple attack from my monsters…"

"Trap activated! Asthenoscape Conversion! When an EARTH Ritual I control is destroyed, I can add a 'Tectonic Transformation' from either my Deck or Graveyard to my hand. I return the one from my Graveyard to my hand, then, since I control no EARTH monsters, I can Special Summon an EARTH Apprentice Monster to the field. Come forth, Iron Apprentice!" Emerging from the pit again appeared the second copy of the monster from before. "And when Iron is summoned, not only shall your monsters lose ATK, but they are changed to defense position before my turn even begins!"

Iron Apprentice: Level 3 EARTH Rock/Effect ATK: 1200 DEF: 1300

Evilswarm Salamandra: Level 4 DARK Dinosaur/Effect ATK: 2850 - 500 = 2350 DEF: 950

Evilswarm Ophion: Rank 4 DARK Dragon/XYZ/Effect ATK: 3550 - 500 = 3050 DEF: 1650

Yang was visibly angry as the two monsters she controlled went on the defensive.

The monster, on the other hand, drew a card and took a look before pointing to the field. "Core Caverns activates. As you control an Extra Deck beast, I can shuffle one of my monsters in the Graveyard to shuffle one Extra Deck monster you control away! I will do so to Aluminum to expel your own XYZ Monster!"

An orange glow came up from the pit, immediately shooting right into the XYZ monster. It started to clearly yowl. Trying to take off as its body slowly began to transform into stone. Yang quickly reached, recalling her monster and snatching the card. Noticing clearing that it had started to become stone. She scowled, knowing that this gave the monster clear reign over whatever it wanted to do.

"With that out of the way, I can use this!" The monster revealed another Trap Card, one that had an orange orb being passed down by some unknown monster to what appeared to be the dueling monster. "I activate the Trap Tectonic Heritage! By discarding 1 EARTH monster from my Hand, I can Ritual Summon a monster without Tributing and equip it with one EARTH Monster. I choose… to Ritual Summon this monster!"

Revealing the Ritual Monster, the card began to glow as the monster Dueling seemingly vanished from view. That was until the stone cage above broke. The orb floating down before it found itself creating something from the pit. It seemed to land onto the stone. Which seemed to be forming an item. Rough edges became smooth until it finally finished as a floating staff, one that was soon grabbed by a feminine hand.

The monster then reappeared, still looking humanoid, but clearly made up of stone. The orange gemstone-like hair shimmered as its orange eyes appeared. While the face still resembled that of a humanoid, the monster lacked a mouth now. Even still, the garments it wore seemed more rigid than smooth. Yet upon their chest appeared to be an empty cavity of sorts. It spun its weapon around before narrowing its gaze.

"I have grown tired of this game. You face the guardian of the Mantle Reactor Core - Freyja." The monster, Freyja declared as the field seemed to react. Shaking in her presence. "And as its protector, I vow to never allow your stained hands to obtain this Reactor Core. Even if it costs my life! And I shall begin with this!"

She raised her staff as the orange globe began to spin. It suddenly unleashed a shockwave. It made the Salamandra stumble as Yang couldn't help but nearly losing her footing.

Evilswarm Salamandra: Level 4 DARK Dinosaur/Effect ATK: 2350 - 1000 = 1350 DEF: 950

Frejya, Core Reactor Guardian: Level 10 EARTH Rock/Ritual/Effect ATK: 3000 + 300 = 3300 DEF: 3500

"I use my own ability here! I Tribute Iron Magician to Special Summon an ally, ignoring the regular condition! Come forth and aid me once more, High Mantle Magician!" The monster declared as the smaller monster crumbled before forming into a new one, gathering up more resources from the pit.

The Ritual monster formed from the brown and grey stone, taking the grey as its own skin tone. It was dressed in darker brown gowns as its staff appeared. It also doubled as a shield, bits of white stone shimmered in the faint light as it took its stance beside the boss monster.

High Mantle Magician: Level 7 EARTH Spellcaster/Ritual/Effect ATK: 2000 DEF: 2500

Frejya, Core Reactor Guardian: Level 10 EARTH Rock/Ritual/Effect ATK: 33000 + 300 = 3600 DEF: 3500

"High Mantle Magician!" Frejya pointed at the Evilswarm monster on the field. "Remove this pest!"

The monster's weapon began to glow. Swing it, a rimple of stone suddenly shoots out. Piercing the Evilswarm monster and shattering it to pieces without hesitation.

The orange orb in Freyja's weapon began to glow. Making the monster smile, their eyes slowly being consumed by power. Before Yang could react, stalagmites suddenly shot out from the ground at her. Some damaging the skin and clothing as she barely managed to dodge out of it.

Monster: 4450 + 1350 = 5800

Vs

Dr. Yang: 8000 - 1350 = 6650

"Now, use your ability to give a swift advantage toward our advance!" Almost on cue, something came out from the dark pit. The staff of Crust Magician unleashed a small burst of pointed stones. Some of it digging into the flesh and skin of Yang. The Vestige wincing in pain despite the bits of blood starting to flow out.

Crust Magician: Level 6 EARTH Spellcaster/Ritual/Effect ATK: 1400 DEF: 2300

Monster: 5800

Vs

Dr. Yang: 6650 - 2300 = 4350

Stumbling back, Yang was holding one wound close to her abdomen. A bit shocked, she looked up at the monster that had yet to make its move.

"Out and over your head, like always." The gem-eyes of Frejya narrowed. "But after this, your last moments will be of your incompetence leading to your demise."

The last set card was flipped over, United We Stand, which instantly was equipped to her. Increasing the monster's attack even more.

Frejya, Core Reactor Guardian: Level 10 EARTH Rock/Ritual/Effect ATK: 3600 + 2400 = 6000 DEF: 3500 + 2400 = 5900

"Perish!" Those were the last words of Frejya as she aimed her weapon at Yang, the Mantle Reactor Core pulsating in the weapon before it shot a stone beam directly at Yang.

Monster: 5800

Vs

Dr. Yang: 4350 - 6000 = 0

Winner: Monster

Frejya didn't bother to look back as the Duel ended. Everything ceased as she landed back as everything reshaped, returning to how it was before the Vestige entered. The other monsters crumbled into stone. She reverted back out of her monster form but held the weapon as the Mantle Reactor Core.

Only a brief glimpse was given as she decided to leave the Vestige to their fate. Sealing up the chamber, the monster started to travel a bit deeper down in the caverns. Yet one fatal misstep had her fall down. Tripping down and almost losing grip on the staff. Looking, she noticed her leg beneath was still cracked.

A quick assessment almost revealed other injuries that weren't seemed to be healed. Even when exposed to the Mantle Reactor Core's power. Using the staff, she had to lean on it a bit as she hissed in pain. Though that revealed more of the human facade breaking. Bits of stone crumbling off.

"...Their parasitical influence knows no limit, does it?" She asked as she could feel the presence of many Vestige in the area. "First rudely entering my home, and now making this place their playground… Perhaps I should destroy this place and escape once more. Maybe that will show them."

Before she could take another step, something stopped her. Eyes widening, to the monster's eye, the Mantle Reactor Core was reacting to something. Both the Reactor Core and monster could see it. A flickering source of power. One they all knew too well. The sight made Frejya tense up. The orange hue of the Mantle Reactor Core slowly consumed the sight of the Earth Ritual Monster.

Some form of a growl was emitted from the stone body. Though it seemed to sound more like grounding rocks. The thing that was seen appeared to wind. Winds that suddenly stilled in the presence before escaping up above. Toward the surface and away from the Earth Ritual Monster. The fear of its erratic movements wasn't unnoticed; the ground began to shake as more of the earth started to converge onto the monster.

"...It looks like I have to do more than destroy, now that the Tempest is here as well." The Mantle Reactor Core's power consumed the monster's eyes. The orb moving from the weapon and into the monster's chest. "Perhaps now, it has finally relinquished it. Perfect for me to finally destroy that nitwit forever… And all others who stand in my way."
