Reborn Judgement-Kanto c2
Drag Morgan was an average boy, with long dark blue hair put up in a ponytail not to different from other kids his age, unless you count his eyes. A deep red that seemed to glow, deepen and unveil your secrets to him. This was probably the reason he never lost a staring contest. He stood in from of a mirror studying himself when he regained the memories of his past life, he was shocked he knew it was true and all that knowledge. It wasn't like they were separate or one took over the other, he merged, gaining skills secrets and most importantly a drive.
His mother looked after him growing up, his father nonexistent. Her hair light blue, and her eyes were an emerald green somewhat aptly, she was named Emerald Morgan.
She had an air about her that screamed if you try something, I will break your bones, slowly. Naturally Drag loved his mother as much as he feared her anger. The last time he saw her angry was when a woman called him demon spawn for his eyes, she didn't do anything but for some reason that woman had a string of bad luck and was shown in a later news report of have been charged with public indecency…with a Grimer, his mother's grin still haunts him.
Having to go to school again was more exciting than he thought it would be. Being able to start a journey at ten years old was mostly because ant basic knowledge was the only thing taught besides basic Pokémon care. Any other teaching came from life, specialized schools, or apprentices. Pokémon were powerful and if one traveled past the frontier border the can ne vicious. Deaths were rare in the regions mostly because of the Pokémon rangers at the borders and the patrolling ace trainers who keep the regions relatively safe. Not to mention most Pokémon were friendly. One of the perks of choosing anime body was that things that should have killed normally just hurt, usually with some random effects. It was 'normal' to every passerby so during such incidences rarely did anyone burst into laughter.
Trainers are sorted into sponsored or free. Ash Ketchum in the anime would have been considered a sponsored trainer. SpTrainers for short tend to keep 6 Pokémon and send the rest back to their sponsor who can keep them or sell them depending on their contract. The most common is league sponsorship in which Pokémon past six are sent to a trainer designated Pokémon center for stasis storage. This comes with several responsibilities such as three years required service to their local league branch and mandatory conscription in case of emergency.
Free trainers, or Frees, keep all captured Pokémon on them and any they wish to sell must be brought to a gym, poke center, or to the police office to either wholesale or verify ownership. A Pokémon center can store their Pokémon in stasis for a monthly service charge. Pokeballs are marvels of innovation, holding the button for 10 seconds can put an injured or just caught Pokémon in hibernation. By taking any unlicensed pokeballs to the Pokecenter trainers can register it to their trainer ID to help prevent theft. The Pokedex can recognize pokeballs serial number; though following the instructions found in the Pokedex database, to immediate register, transport, and view detailed information on the captured Pokémon. Pokémon moves were not limited but most tend to focus on half a dozen due to the rapid nature of Pokémon battles.
Since Pokeballs are capable of containing creatures of mass devastation it was impossible for anyone under sixteen to buy one without a trainer's license. Needless to say, there are several ways around this not limited to asking for one from a trainer or parent, finding one on the ground, or bribing a bystander to buy one for you.
Many trainers either release or give Pokémon to the league at the end of their journey. Some people don't even go on a journey at all and just buy a few as pet or as a helper for their job. This gives the average working adult at least one Pokémon of their own, his mother Emerald only had a Machop which she had to help her at the house and work. Pokémon abandonment is also a crime due to the fact that many Pokémon who are abandoned tend to get violent and lash out so any Pokémon that are to be released must be given to the Pokémon center to be handled by professionals. Any damage caused by a Pokémon not released at a center is the responsibility of the trainer. When registering a Pokémon, a DNA sample is taken for documentation for such purposes.
Drag wasn't very popular at school. His eyes scared many children his age away and those few who tried to associate with him were often looking for a thug or a protector. Spending as much time as he could learning about the world of Pokémon, he noticed that many of the things that were present in games were unknown such as evolutionary conditions for half of the Eevee line and those requiring a bond or special item such as Feebas. Trainers can post how to evolve Pokémon or learn moves on the league website and receive a royalty for three years from the posts. Video evidence even grant a league bonus if proven true. Given how his mother saved most of the money she earned to help outfit him for his Pokémon journey, money was tight.
The mysterious backpack made my Silph Co. was somehow bigger on the inside and nullified most of the weight. Hence explaining how Brock managed to carry around a picnic table. However, they more expensive based on the space available hence most tried to buy the best they can. This alone made many give up on being a trainer, as carrying Pokefood would be hard to do unless the mouths to feed were either small or few. (bug catchers)
Starter Pokémon tend to be purchased as well, unless one wanted to become a league sponsored trainer, and prices tend to vary based on rarity, strength, and move set. A Magikarp cost 150P or Poke, a Pokeball was only 100P each, and a berry or apple 5P. Basic Pokémon such as Rattata, Pidgey, Spearow, Caterpie, or Weedle tend to be 300-400P. Other Pokémon tend to be more expensive and region Pokémon tend to be given to trainers sponsored by important figures in the league region.
One surprise was that Damien and his cronies were Drags classmates. Damien Arcs was the son of the head local Ace trainer. He along with two others would receive Viridians quota of region starters. Pallet town was small and most trainers of the trainers from Pallet were sponsored by Prof. Oak, with less than half a dozen children in pallet per year this was manageable for the tycoon.
Drag had spent the last few years trying to figure out his bloodline and planning on how he would convince ash to let him join on his journey. The first time he activated his bloodline was actually to flee from his mother when he told her he was going to be a trainer, the look in her eyes scared him to the point where he did something, he called agility after the Pokémon move. According to his mother his eyes sparked then he fled to his room so fast he was a blur. Knowing he would be in danger his mother agreed to let him leave as long as he promised to be safe, after all nothing says safe like riding on a Gyarados.
It has been two years since then and with his various side jobs and his Mothers help there is enough saved for a Silver grade Silph Bag. He also learned the moves Agility, Bulk up, Dragon Punch/Fang, and Scary face; to his mother his Scary Face was passible and he received weekly coaching on the subject. Cities have a surprising amount of wild Pokémon and given that many would likely join a trainer for a guaranteed meal daily Drag just need to get a Pokeball.
With only a few months left in School the trainer exams were available at any time, but they could only take them once per year. As Drag decided to get it out of the way early he was not as concerned with the deadline. The exam itself included Pokémon care, types, laws, and a free section. The free section could be considered the most important, it was required to list at least sixty Pokémon commonly found in the region and include details on each. The more named and detailed the better, also included was the one who scored the highest in Veridian would receive a trip to Alola before the league registration date. To ensure victory Drag wrote that the Jigglypuff and Clefairy line were fairy types and his proof that they were unaffected by dragon types, the dragon immunity had yet to be documented.
After failing to get a Pokeball from his mother he ended up diving though the trash on one of the upscale Pokemarts in the hope they threw away something useful. Aside from some random thing that Drag would pawn for cash the was no luck. It was during one such dive that he noticed that a truck came to pick up home delivery orders every morning.
This was not his first life and theft seemed like a small crime on the chance that one of the boxes contained pokeballs. Given that there were some packages that would go to the local Ace trainers, who all locals knew at least a few of their names, anything inside would be enough to at least bribe a passing trainer for one. Having to escape the nose of a Police Pokémon would be a problem, luckily there was a manhole to the sewers in the back alley across the street.
With traffic being slow in the morning it would be easy to make it to the manhole; the issue would be where to exit. It took several days to make a map and mark manholes close to the apartment yet in areas where he wouldn't be noticed. It would be likely that he would run across wild Pokémon who would shelter in the sewer system so Drag armed with his school backpack containing a flashlight, crowbar, compass, and berries for bribes he descended into the depths to make his getaway plans.
