Chapter 4: Group camp fire
Walking back on deck Alex stood on the platform where director Fury normally stands. She looks around and notices very few of the avengers are present. Pressing the intercom button she calls out "all avengers' group camp fire on dec" one by one they slowly filtered towards the briefing table and sat down. They all looked a bit puzzled especially the other worldly being. Director Fury sat at the head of the table "so Jameson what did you find" "from what I can gather he is very misunderstood, feels lonely and misguided" she paces on the spot looking towards Thor "I can understand why he is in the place that he is, why he's got to this point and his actions for the things he commited" she informs solemnly "I don't care about his personal feelings Jameson just get to the part where earth becomes his personal no man's land" Fury intercepts rather impatiently "see Nicolas it's an attitude like that; that has put us into this situation" she points quickly to him and places her hands on her hip. Before she was able to carry on with her jibe Steve cuts in urgently "maybe we can skip past this part and get to the cube and staff and why he is doing this" "then what... have a slumber party and talk about each other's feelings" tony adds sarcastically "ok we are digressing... personal feelings aside... Alex can we just hear what you found out" Natasha interjected.
Looking around the table at the impatient people Alex her kisses her teeth and huffs "fine... from what I can tell the staff possess minds of others... it seems Loki himself is also being controlled but I don't think it's from the staff... I think it's a higher being" she looks to Thor who has a grievous look on his face "Thor has Asgard got any references of a being called Thanos... or The Other" he seems to be contemplating the question "I am unaware and have no knowledge of these names" he asks "I doubt we have any references in the database either" Nick adds "whoever they are they are using Loki as a pawn to do their bidding... if it's any consolation I don't think Loki has any subconscious awareness of what he is doing" Alex's adds "yea try telling that to the 80 people he has killed" Steve and Natasha says angrily at the same time. Alex lowers her head and lets out a shuddery breath before looking back up "look I'm not condoning what he has done... quite frankly I'm livid at what has happened... but you cannot forget that he is being controlled just like Barton... now tell me... after the control is over would you accept Barton with open arms and forget what he has done... yes you would because he is one of us... so what makes it different for Loki" Jameson pushes whilst she looks around the table watching their reactions. She then places her hands on the table and leans "now don't tell me you have grown a soft spot for this psychopath" director fury shoot up slamming his hand on the table whilst keeping his eye on Jameson, Thor shoots up from this table "have care how you speak he is still my brother" "you've not been inside his head Nick" she replies sadly "it's like he's screaming from being tortured inside... waiting for someone to understand him... but no you don't care as long as the threat is eliminated... so you'll carry on no matter what" she looks back at Fury.
The atmosphere turned sour and everyone looked down to their hands apart from Fury and Alex who are having a confrontational stare down "anyway... that aside how can we stop him" Steve interrupts "the staff has all the answers... but be mindful of it because it can get inside your head like little whispers even if you not touching it" Alex looks away and pointedly looks to Tony and Banner "I couldn't get too much from him regarding his plans they're locked away somewhere almost as if he doesn't even know until he's doing it... but I recon he's trying to play us off against each other that's why it was so easy to bring him in... Bruce please watch yourself, I think you're his target... to get you worked up and that is really bad for us" she sympathetically looks to him. She looks back to nick who was still looking at her "if that is all you're dismissed... Stark, Banner if you please" Fury says to the science nerds "yep" tony replies awkwardly whilst Bruce just nods and follows tony back to the lab "if anyone needs me I'll be in my office" Alex adds walking off, Thor gets up and follows her and the rest of the table looks on at her suspiciously well Nick was the other four being Natasha, Steve, Coulson and Hill were puzzled on The second in commands feeling towards the fugitive.
