Babysitter
"Hello, dear Lizzie, could you please watch over little My and Sher? It won't be long, just 30 minutes."
"Of course, Mrs. Holmes, you can count on me! I'll be there in 10 minutes" Lizzie answered cheerily, unaware of what she was about to endure.
"Oh, thank you dear!" Mrs. Holmes answered, and hung up.
8 minutes after they hung up, Lizzie rung the doorbell of her lovely neighbor's house.
"Lizzie, dear, you are a lifesaver. Shy and My have a fever and I need to go buy some more medicine. They'll probably be insufferable, so I apologize in advance."
Lizzie smiled sweetly. "Don't worry Mrs. Holmes! We'll be just fine!" Lizzie chirped and waved at Mrs. Holmes as she left the house.
As Lizzie went to check on the boys, you could see her becoming more and more nervous at the sounds she was hearing.
Entering the room, she saw an unexpected sight: Sherlock was hanging from the bed, head down, while Mycroft was setting fire on papers.
"What are you doing?" Lizzie shrilled, before forcing Sherlock to lie on the bed and taking the lighter and papers out of Mycroft's hands.
"You've ruined our experiments!" Sherlock shouted, pouting. That's when Lizzie remembered that Mrs. Holmes' children were geniuses.
"I. Do. Not. Care." Lizzie said emphasizing her every word.
"You will do no experiments while you are sick, your reflexes are slower than usual and you might be unable to deal with the consequences for your experiments! What if something went wrong? What if you, Sherlock, had fainted while Mycroft accidentally set the house on fire? No more experimenting while sick! Now, onto your beds you go, and I better not see you get out of it for anything other than the toilet!"
Lizzie was out of breath after her rant, but the two boys meekly replied. They stayed in their beds for the rest of the time when Lizzie was there, silently communicating with each other.
Lizzie was relieved that the boys listened to her. They may have given her three heart attacks, but at least they were obedient when she lectured them.
When Lizzie left and Mrs. Holmes went to check on her children, she was met with a simultaneous demand from both boys:
"Lizzie will be the only babysitter we will accept from now on."
Mrs. Holmes nodded confused, as her children had hated their previous babysitters with passion.
Mrs. Holmes never learned that Lizzie's logical reason behind her forbidding the two brothers' experiments earned their respect.
