"Hey Calhoun" Greeted a guard standing next to the tram line "Hows it going?" Calhoun replied, the guards both stood at the edge of the monorail system platform, just then the VOX system called out "Warning, Level 8 Topside Dormitories personnel, tram delayed until 8:40" "Well that just about puts the cherry on top, see you later Calhoun" The guard waved and walked back into their Dorm, Calhoun knew he was going to be late but felt like he could use the tram as an excuse for that, with nothing else to do he pulled out a coffee emblazoned with the Black Mesa logo on its side and waited for the tram, it has been rumoured that a guard named Otis Laurey dropped his doughnut on the monorail at the Area 9 checkpoint
8:00 AM
The officer came back out and saw Calhoun dipping his hand into the doughnut box, he was either enjoying the sun or just waiting for the tram to come by, "Calhoun its finally 8 AM we have just a few more minutes left" Calhoun nodded at the security officer and dipped his hand into the doughnut box pulling out a chocolate icing filled doughnut and stuffing his mouth then replied "You know i still owe Gordon that beer... maybe ill go to the bar, pay my tab and buy him a bottle" The other guard nodded and looked into the sun waiting for the train, 40 minutes of lively conversation and discussions about Prax Wars 3 the tram finally pulled up, Calhoun entered the tram after the guard as the door closed behind them, the transit system speakers turned on "Good morning and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit system, This automated train is provided for the comfort and convenience of Black Mesa residents, and visitors of the Black Mesa Research facility" the guards each took a seat and each pulled out a Game Boy Colour and played Prax Wars 2: Dantes Revenge as the tram took off into the tunned "The time is 08:42 AM, current topside temperature is 91 degrees with an estimated high today of one hundred and five, the Black Mesa Compound is maintained at 68 degrees at all times." Calhoun sighed and put on headphones so they could hear the sound on the Colour, unluckily for the other guard they brought no headphones but just ignored the transit system, they passed area 7 recreational facilities and a few motolavs

They had both reached Area 3 medium security facilities but the other security officer was headed to Area 1 Storage facility to help the scientists lift up a few crates "Ill see you in an hour Calhoun" called the officer, Calhoun replied "Ill see you later Joe" then turned to the door, he knocked once, then twice, then hammered the door leaving sticky doughnut fingerprints on it, a security officer was behind it and called out "Just wait a minute, the doors not responding to your ID", a tram went by almost taking Barneys head off in the process, he looked back and caught a glimpse of his buddy Gordon freeman riding to Sector C test labs and control facilties "Hey Calhoun sorry about that", the door was open and Calhoun looked back and told him its fine "We've been having problems all over the facilities, system crashes, malfunctions," he'd walk to a pad in the wall "Its a wonder this whole place hasn't shut down yet" said the guard and gestured towards the lobby.
