Hey everybird! What's up!?
So after a few days of some rest, I'm back at it and ready for this next short tale!
Now of course as I said before this will be about Blu's story during the events of Rogue One and before The Scarlet Rebel. And since this is a prequel to The Scarlet Rebel, reading that and The Two Brothers is not required, but if you want to read them, they're there and if you have already, well than good!
I have also decided that, at least for the time being, to discontinue the Q and A part of the author's notes, owning to the fact that well interest kinda of stopped in the last story, which is sad because I rather enjoy that part, but oh well…
Anyway, lets get on with it!
Chapter 1: Looking Back
(Blu's POV)
It was another peaceful day on my home world as I sat on my porch, on a comfortable chair, looking out to the evening sun while taking occasional sips from the cup of tea I was enjoying. Everything was quiet as all I heard was my soft and steady breathing and sipping noises every time I brought the teacup to my beak. It was only interrupted as I heard some low beeps coming from behind me, I turned around to see a light blue and white colored R2 unit roll up to besides me.
"Oh hey Jewel." I smiled at the astromech as she came next to me, beeping more at me. "No thanks girl, I think I had enough tea for one day." I answered the droid with a smile as I returned to watching the sun slowly going down over the horizon.
Today, just like every day since I finally came back to my home world after finally retiring from military life, having participated in the final demise of not only the First Order, but well the Emperor and his Final Order, I thought a lot about my devotion to the cause, to the Rebel Alliance, the New Republic, and finally the Resistance. In fact when I returned home, I was hailed as a national hero, but I certainly didn't feel like a hero, I just led others into the fight, others who were heroes in the end.
Even so, I made a simple request and that was to have a nice, little home for myself as well as Jewel, my loyal astromech who stayed with me through it all. And well now here I was, enjoying the rest of my life in peace, with my memories of days gone by.
"You ever think about the past Jewel?" I asked my R2 unit. "Especially the beginning?" I added as Jewel beeped at me in response. "I remember those days like it was just yesterday…"
Sighing, my mind went back many years ago, when I was just a young captain in the early days of the Alliance, serving as second in command of Blue Squadron, the first in command being my father…
Many years ago, on Yavin 4, Rebel Alliance Headquarters…
"Hey Jewel, can you get me a wrench?" I asked my droid as she beeped back while I was underneath the underbelly of my T-65 X-Wing, doing some minor tuneups on it, making sure my starfighter was in perfect condition. "Thanks." I told my droid as she brought back a wrench, which I took and continued working.
It's been quite some time since my father and I joined the Alliance after developments on our home world, having escaped to join up and finally do something. And well now, owning to my father's leadership abilities, he was given command of Blue Squadron, a dozen of the new T-65 X-Wing starfighters, the most advanced ship of its kind and perfectly suited to the needs of the Alliance.
And well I joined my father as his second in command, being a young captain and wingman to my father as I had my own fighter, as well as my astromech, Jewel. A major reason why my father and I decided to leave our home world was because of my wife's unfortunate death and well even thought part of me was against it, I decided to name my astromech co-pilot after her. I made that decision so I felt that Jewel had my back no matter what and at first it was a little hard to say her name, but I grew used to it.
Speaking of which, the Alliance was rather inactive as well the organization was still forming and not at enough strength in order to confront the Empire, the Empire having almost unlimited resources and a much stronger military that ruled over the majority of the galaxy. For our squadron, we were only ever sent on quick hit and run raids, against more weakly protected targets that didn't even seem to matter that much in the long run. However the Alliance was not ready for open warfare yet against the Empire and I wonder if we'll ever have the ability to do so at this rate. However I just had to keep waiting patiently and soon enough we'll get the opportunity to show the Empire what we're really made of.
Currently tightening a panel back in place, I was greeted by a voice I knew all too well…
"Captain!" The voice said loudly as I was surprised and bumped my head against the underbelly of my fighter as I rolled out from underneath to see…
"Roberto!" I said, rather annoyed as I rubbed the bump surely forming on my forehead as Jewel was laughing at me. "That's not funny!" I snapped at Roberto, who was pretending to be my father."
"Jewel certainly thinks so." Roberto smiled.
When my father and I left our home world, I left behind a good childhood friend, Roberto, but he eventually found his own way to the Alliance and well he was our first volunteer to join Blue Squadron. As I stood up, feeling the bump on my forehead, I playfully punched Roberto in the shoulder.
"So why exactly did you come here?" I asked my friend.
"Well command got news that Red Flight brought back Extraction Team Bravo from a mission to Wobani." Roberto reported. "Turns out they brought back a valuable prisoner from there, I heard she's the daughter of some Imperial scientist."
Just as Roberto finished saying this, a U-Wing was just touching down near us on an empty spot on the tarmac. We watched as the U-Wing settled down and the belly of the craft opened up and out came a few Rebel soldiers, bringing out a young adult female bird, who had wingcuffs bound to her. The soldiers then proceeded to take and bring her inside the base, where my father was currently, most likely going to take part in speaking to this prisoner.
"You think she's going to be important?" Roberto finally asked me as the prisoner disappeared from view.
"I don't know, but I'm going to find out from Blue Leader." I told Roberto as I decided to go see what was up.
Little did I know that this would be the start of a new beginning in the war against the Empire…
And I'll leave it off on there!
A rather short start, but I still hope you enjoyed and well looking froward to Blu's part in these times!
And with that…
See everybird later!
