Hey everybird! What's up!?
So before we get to the next chapter, I would like your opinion on something…
So if you don't know, I was planning on doing a sequel to My Little Lisa after this, but since well I have much more time now because of current events, I been thinking of well doing that along with this story, so those of you who aren't really interested in this story will have something else to enjoy.
And that's not all because I have been thinking of well an idea I had for quite some time, which I'm thinking of doing after I finish the third Blu in Brazil, Jewel in Minnnesota. That idea being well the prequel to The Scarlet Side and have Alex not be with Blu and Jewel on their crazy adventure in the first Rio movie, but have Alex tag along with Linda and Tulio.
And boy this is a year for a lot of sequels and prequels isn't it… This story, the sequels to My Little Lisa and the second Blu in Brazil, Jewel in Minnesota, as well as The Two Brothers: A Star Wars Story, and The Scarlet Side prequel… Huh… Weird how that happens…
Anyway… Enough chatting, lets get back to the current story!
Chapter 3: Turn of Events
(Blu's POV)
Having finished patching up my X-Wing, making sure it was all ready to go out at a moment's notice, I stretched my wings, feeling tired out a little. Looking up I noticed the blue sky was starting to change into a light orange, signaling that the day was coming to an end. Putting down the tool I was currently holding, I felt my belly as it groaned, telling me it was time for a nice meal and then some sleep.
"Good job today Jewel, you can power down if you want, I'm going to the mess." I told my droid as she beeped back at me before I headed off inside.
There I got some hot food and began looking for a seat when I heard Roberto's voice.
"Blu, over here!" Roberto called as I turned my head in the direction of the sound to see Roberto sitting with Nico already, smiling I walked over and took a seat next to them. "Busy day for you captain, so you didn't tell me yet about what's happening." Roberto stated as I knew this meant Nico kept his word about not saying anything I told him to anyone.
"Sorry Roberto, you're going to have to wait to hear from Blue Leader himself, I'm in the dark as much as you are." I replied.
"Now I know that's a lie, I know you know something Blu." Roberto pressing me.
"Alright Roberto cool it…" I said in an ordering tone. "I'm your superior officer, don't forget it."
"Never sir." Roberto smiled as he gave a playful salute.
"Good, now I would like to enjoy my meal so I can rest up." I said as I took a bite of my food.
Finishing my meal while enjoying a normal conversation with my two friends, Roberto tried a couple times to get me talking about confidential information. However he has done this before and I knew very well his tricks as I kept my beak shut about it, Roberto not getting through to what I knew. Eating my last bite I said my goodbyes to my friends before heading off to my small quarters, taking off my flight suit and changed into my normal clothing as I just laid on my bed, falling asleep right away.
I was fast asleep that if one were to wake me, it would take awhile to snap me awake and well that came true as I felt someone trying to shake me awake. At first my mind just wanted to enjoy the peace, but I eventually had to open my eyes to see who it was, thinking well it could be my father who needed me. However it was Roberto…
"Roberto… If this is about getting me to talk…" I began saying sleepily before Roberto cut me off.
"Sir, this isn't about that." Roberto told me in a serious tone as I then noticed he was still in his flight suit, his pilot helmet tucked under his wing. "Blue Leader needs to see you, now, in the command center." Roberto informed me as I sat up now, rubbing my eyes with my wings.
"Alright, go back to him and tell him I'll be right there as soon as I get changed." I sighed as Roberto left me to get dressed up again in my flight suit.
A couple minutes later I was ready, zipping up my suit as I exited my quarters, yawning, I made my way to the command center, entering it and searching around for my father, finding him waiting patiently for me. My father had a very worried look on his face, something serious obviously went down.
"Sir." I said as I saluted, coming in front of my father.
"At ease captain." My father replied. "Thank you for coming, we got a very serious situation."
"How serious sir?" I asked.
"Jedha City was destroyed by the Empire, all of it, by the superweapon." My father stated as calmly as he could, but I could tell there was fear in his voice. "News about it just came less than an hour ago, but well…"
"What?" I asked.
"That woman, Jyn, and Captain Andor were sent there, luckily they managed to escape in time." My father told me the good news. "The reason I bring this up is because General Draven wants the squadrons to be kept in a state of readiness."
"Understood sir…" I sighed as well my rest was cut short.
"Good, I already passed along word to the rest of the squadron, all you have to worry about captain is you and stay awake." My father told me as we couldn't afford even the luxury of sleep with these new developments.
"Yes sir." I replied, trying to suppress a yawn that wanted to come out.
(David's POV)
Watching my son go, I sighed, thinking if he was up for this, sure I had every bit of confidence in Blu, but he was still young and well a little reckless and stubborn, but I wouldn't have picked anyone else to be my second. Focusing back on the situation at hand however, I waited, sticking around for updates and well soon enough they did come as I saw General Draven come up to me.
"General, we lost contact with Captain Andor, his signal went dead as it arrived at Eadu where I sent him." General Draven told me. "Get your squadron ready, your mission is to target the Imperial research facility there."
"Yes sir." I replied as I wasted no time in getting my squadron gathered to brief them on the mission.
It was pretty dark outside now, so we had the short briefing inside before heading out to our X-Wings, all my pilots lined up, dressed, with their helmets tucked under their wings as Blu made sure everyone was here.
"All here sir." Blu told me as I nodded before speaking.
"Alright Blue Squadron, here's the mission, we're going in with Gold Squadron to hit an Imperial research facility on Eadu, this facility is a key part in the development of a new superweapon, so it's essential we destroy it." I said as my pilots all gave each other looks, which I expected. "We strike, deal as much damage as possible, fight through any defenses and get out before reinforcements can arrive, understood?"
"Sir, yes sir!" All the pilots stood at attention and replied at the same time.
"Good, now man your fighters, we leave as soon as we're all ready." I dismissed the squadron as they all gave a quick salute before heading off to their parked X-Wings outside.
(Blu's POV)
As my father dismissed us, heading off to our X-Wings, Roberto came up besides me.
"No wonder why you didn't tell me what's going on…" Roberto said to me in a serious manner unlike him.
"Come on Roberto, what happened to the bird I know, there's nothing the Empire has that we can't handle." I reassured my friend.
"I hope you're right Blu." Roberto replied. "Well better make sure Isabella is set to go." Roberto told me as he left me to go to his X-Wing while I continued on my way to mine, seeing Jewel being lifted up and lowered into the astromech socket behind the cockpit.
"You all set Jewel?" I asked my droid as I climbed up the ladder against the side of my fighter leading to the cockpit, Jewel beeping back a positive "Yes" to me. "Good." I smiled as I got into my cockpit, putting on my helmet before starting up the fighter's systems and readying the engines.
Hearing the soft humming from the four engines ready to lift up the starfighter into the skies, I waited for the go ahead from my father to bring my X-Wing to full power. Finally it came as my father's voice went through comms.
"Alright Blue Squadron, we're all set and ready, good luck to us and Gold Squadron." My father told us in confidence as I looked out the cockpit to see the flight controller and for his signal for me to take off.
It came as he waved the light sticks as I lifted my X-Wing up off the ground, retracting the landing gear and as soon as it was stowed away inside the X-Wing body, I kicked the engines into full gear, flying upwards and getting in formation with the rest of the squadron alongside my father. Once we were out into space and clear of Yavin 4's gravity, we prepped for hyperspace as I got ready with my wing on the button.
"Hyperspace in three, two…" My father's voice spoke through comms as one by one the X and Y-Wings of the group entered hyperspace as I pressed the button, seeing the blackness of space turning into white lines and then a blue tunnel.
And I'll leave it off on there!
Next chapter will be the strike on Eadu and well a bit of a spoiler, but Blu's going to be saved by a blind ally…
