Hi guys! New story here, I don't know if people are still reading Rizzoli And Isles fanfiction but I had a story idea and decided to give it a shot so I hope you enjoy!

"I can't believe summer is over already" Jane said looking out to the sea from the beach. "It has been the best vacation I have ever being on, and I met someone incredible" Jane smiled turning to look at the blonde beside her

"I've had an amazing time Jane, I can't thank you enough. I never thought I'd spend a summer with someone so amazing and fall in love with them" Maura beamed looking at the brunette she had spent the past two months with.

"You love me?" Jane questioned
"I think I do yes, we've spent every day together and you've being there for me the whole time"
"I think I love you too" Jane responded leaning in to kiss Maura. Nineteen year old Jane and Maura had never being so happy.

Eight years later;

"So how do you two feel eh? First day on the shift in homicide" Korsak asked driving towards the crime scene

"Excited, and nervous" Jane laughed rubbing her hands together in the front seat.
"Yeah same here" Frost squeezed out

"Oh please, you nearly puked at just a photo of a dead body" Jane teased her best friend from school.
"Yeah well, we shall see"

"Dr Isles nice to finally meet you" Cavanagh said walking up to the crime scene
"You to lieutenant" Maura smiled back
"My detectives should be here soon, its their first day on the job too"
"Oh right, well I worked back in LA for a couple of years before moving here, I've just never being chief medical examiner.." Maura nervously replied
"I'm sure you'll do great, you were given the job for a reason right?"

"Here we are folks. This is our new chief medical examiner, Dr Maura Isles" Korsak pointed in the direction of Maura, introducing Jane and Frost

"Maura…"
"Jane…"

"You two know each other?" Korsak asked curiously

"No"
"Yes"

Jane and Maura answered simultaneously.

Frost and Korsak looked at each other before shrugging it off.

"So, what have we got Dr" Jane asked pulling her gloves on and stepping closer
"Well Detective" Maura replied turning her back to her.

Back at the station Jane took a seat at her desk and rubbed her hand against her forehead.

"You know here don't you? Like know know her?" Frost asked sat opposite her

"Yeah, I do. You know that summer fling I told you about eight years ago?"

Frost nodded

"That's her, I was supposed to stay in touch with her but never did, asoon as I got home I received the letter about getting into the academy and I never contacted her, I had a lot going on and eventually forgot" Jane sighed. "I never thought I'd see her again Frost"

"Maybe you should talk to her bout it, she seemed pretty upset when you said you didn't know her"
"I know, I was an ass"

"You got that right" Korsak said pipping up.

"Yeah thanks guys"

Jane stood up and headed to the morgue.

"Hey.." Jane stood awkwardly the other side of the body opposite Maura

"Hi"

"Look Maur…I'm sorry about earlier"

"Just earlier or the past eight years?" Maura asked looking up at the woman she once loved.

"I'm sorry Maura, I know I acted like a jerk. Look can we talk about everything?"

"Why, why now. Don't you think it's a bit too late Jane?" Maura responded with hurt in her voice

"Maura please, I want to explain myself, can you at least let me do that?"

"Fine, I'll give you my address, meet me there at say seven tonight?"

"Thankyou" Jane said with a smile on her face before leaving.

Later that night Jane pulled up at Maura's house. Stepping out of her can she dead up the drive to the front door. Taking a deep breath she placed four gentle but loud enough knocks on the blonde's front door. Seconds later Maura answered stood their in black jeans and a blue of the shoulder jumper.

"Hi" Jane smiled before Maura aloud her to step inside.

Taking a seat at the island Maura handed Jane a beer.

"So, explain" Maura said pursing her lips.
