"As your best friends," Mackenzie motioned between her and Donna, who had met them for lunch. "We're going to help you get ready for your date and then we expect all the juicy details."
"I told you Jax just needed some time," Donna took a sip of her iced tea. "Did he tell you where he was taking you?"
Carrie shook her head, swallowing the food in her mouth. "He just said dress nice and comfortable to ride." Donna and Mackenzie rolled their eyes while shaking their heads.
"Well that leaves out wearing a dress or skirt." Mackenzie said before taking a bite of her food.
Donna nodded before pointing at Carrie. "You could still dress up a pair of jeans, look sexy and have Jax drooling."
"Yes and by the end of the night you," Mackenzie paused to point at her. "Will no longer be moody because he would have fucked the moodiness right out of you."
Carrie and Donna both choked on their drink. Causing Mackenzie to smirk in satisfaction, knowing she was right. Which was something Carrie would never admit but it was only because she'd never hear the end of it from the redhead.
The rest of the day had gone by in a blur and before she knew it. Carrie was at the end of her shift. Feeling excited but nervous at the same time a she made her way home. Not fully believing that this was actually happening.
She felt like he would cancel at any moment which caused her anxiety to spike as she got ready. Checking her phone every minute to see if he had called or text. While trying to hurry and be ready to not keep him waiting.
Her makeup was done in a slightly darker look then she normally wore. Giving her a sultry look and making her eyes pop out. Her lips were a darker shade making them look fuller and plumper. But she still kept the shades in her normal nudes just adding a bit of a darker shade here and there.
For her outfit she had a hard time deciding on what to wear as he hadn't given her much to go on. But she hd finally decided on a pair of dark wash jeans, that looked as if they had painted on her. A black lace bralette, layered beneath a loose white tank top and her black leather jacket on top with her black suede booties.
She had curled her hair before messing it up a little to give it a tousled look. Stepping back to look at her self in the mirror before checking her phone again. Seeing message of encouragement form both Donna and Mackenzie but nothing from Jax.
Deciding that it was best if she waited in the living room as to not fidget or mess with her outfit, makeup or hair anymore. She quickly made her way out of her bedroom, after making sure she had everything she would need.
Looking at her phone, it was five after eight and while she had taken a little longer to get ready. She figured Jax must have been running late as well before taking a seat on her couch. Playing the waiting game while trying not to let her nerves get the best of her.
But as the time ticked on and the later it got, Carrie couldn't help but think something was wrong. Given that he'd never been late, let alone this late. Checking her phone she had no missed calls or texts from him causing her to worry.
Thinking maybe something had come up with Abel or worse that Jax had been hurt. She didn't know what exactly went on with his club but she knew they weren't exactly choir boys. There had to be a level of danger involved with it and maybe something had happened to prevent him from coming.
Carrie debated on whether she should call him or not before her worry won. Only she received no answer and that wasn't like him. Unless he was acting like a dick, he usually answered. But he wouldn't be ignoring her now, would he?
Shaking the negative thoughts away, she decided on calling him again. Hearing the phone ring with no answer. Before messaging him, first asking if everything was alright and then reminding him about the date in case he had forgotten.
As time went by, her worry slowly started to fade being replaced with anger and frustration as she paced around her living room. Trying to get in contact with him only to get no answer form him every time.
By now her hair had been ruined from the numerous times she ran her hands through it. Her jacket had come off and been tossed aside and her makeup was surely to be ruined next as she took in the time. Noting that she had spent two and a half hours pacing and waiting for him.
Shaking her head, she tried to keep the tears at bay not wanting to believe that he would do this. He couldn't have stood her up, especially not after the way he had acted the night before. There was no way he could have gone form giving them a chance to burning that bridge.
Jax had shown up to Tara's hoping she would have supplies to help the club out. Cameron Hayes, who was now taking over as their connect for the guns, had been shot while at a meeting with Clay and Tig. Now, he was lying in the middle of their table while Chibs and Juice tried to get the bullets out.
This was the last thing he needed right now, but that still couldn't take from the fact that his son was finally out of the toaster. Abel was one step closer to coming home and while terrified of how he was going to do it. He was excited to finally get him home.
"Thanks for helping me out," He informed Tara as she handed him, her supply kit.
"No problem. You should have everything you need in there."
Jax could feel his phone vibrating knowing it was the club calling. He knew he had to get out of there and quickly before shit hit the fan and they came looking. But he also had to be quick and get ready, he was already late to pick Carrie up for their date.
He had managed to get halfway towards the club, before his phone went off. He thought about ignoring the call before picking it up. Hearing a frantic Tara on the line as Kohn yelled in the background.
Quickly turning back around and heading that way again. He knew he'd be in deep shit with the club and possibly Carrie but he couldn't leave Tara to deal with Kohn on her own. Especially not when there was a possibility that something could go wrong.
"Where is he?" He questioned as soon as she opened the door. Letting him come through, before he noticed the way she was dressed and the gun in her hand. "Shit."
"He's in the bedroom," Tara answered biting her lip. "I tried to stop him Jax."
He knew she was only going to get hysterical if he didn't stop her from talking. So he did the only thing he could think of. Which was to hug her before pulling back and taking the gun from him.
In that moment, all thoughts and duties went out the window. Stopping in the doorway, he looked in at Kohn, who had yet to notice him, as he put pressure on his bullet wound. Trying to stop the bleeding.
"You pathetic bitch! You called Teller to come help you!" Kohn looked up at Tara, after finally noticing him in the doorway.
"We can either call the cops and get him 'll patch him up and he'll do some time before getting out. "Jax informed Tara. Completely ignoring the man on the floor. "Or we end this right now."
"Shit, I can't do this again Jax. I can't keep looking over my shoulder or running."
"Look he knew this ended one of two ways. He made his choice now it's time to make yours." Jax glanced at Kohn who kept yelling at Tara. Feeling himself get worked up, while waiting for Tara to make a choice.
"You're such a whore. One a biker slut always," Kohn hadn't even been able to finish that sentence before he had put a bullet in his head. Cutting him off and ending his life in cold blood.
Something he had never done before and as the realization hit. He felt his heart stop as he sat on the bed, looking at the man he had just killed. All noise canceled out and only the ringing in his ears remained.
"What are we going to do now?" Tara softly questioned as she sat next to him. Both shaking as they sat besides each other and stared at the bloody scene in front of them.
Jax looked up as Tara turned towards him. Both of them staring into each other's eyes before he made the first move. Not answering her question but kissing her as if his life depended on it. Right now he needed to feel something other than guilt and fear.
Tara was his lifeline for now, she was the anchor tethering him to keep him from drowning in his emotions. And with that kiss which led to clothes being shed, as he laid her down. All thoughts ran out of his head and he only focused on her. As they both got lost in the moment and fell back into the motion of things. Touching and kissing, as if the last ten years hadn't happened.
Heartache slowly filled and the guilt they carried washed away. And with it so did Jax's thoughts on getting to club and picking up Carrie. The woman he had promised he was committed to seeing where their relationship led.
All of that went out the window as he thrust into Tara. Watching her in the throes of passion, ignoring the fact that he had just killed a man, that he had to get to the club, or that he was in a relationship with another woman. A woman who was waiting on him but that didn't matter.
At least not right now because right now nothing else mattered. Right now he was back in time. Back to when things were easier and simpler. Before the heartache set in and before ehe hit rock bottom.
Jax didn't look up from Tara and she didn't look away form him. Both too caught up in the moment. They would deal with everything another day. But for tonight they would give into each other. Ignoring everything else but themselves. They were safe in their little bubble of ecstasy.
There you have it.
Jax and Carrie's date didn't happen. Instead he not only helped Tara deal with Kohn but he also slept with her.
Do you think it's just a one time thing? Something that only happened in the moment?
Or will this be the end of what could have been with him and Carrie?
