Hey everybird! What's up!?

Before we get to today's chapter, I wish all of you Star Wars fans a very happy Star Wars Day! May the Fourth and Force be with you throughout the day!

And of course to help celebrate the day, here's the next chapter!

Chapter 10: Disbelief

(Blu's POV)

"Blue Leader, this is Captain Blu, do you copy?" I tried again, but nothing other than static greeted me as I refused to give up, telling Jewel to strengthen the connection if she could. "Blue Leader, please respond."

With the destruction of the shield gate, along with the two star destroyers by the single Hammerhead, there was only the reminder of the TIEs, which the fleet managed to finish off no problem as the space around Sacrif for the time being was completely under Alliance control. And with no enemy forces to worry about, I could focus on trying my hardest to reach dad as I very much considered flying down to the skies above Sacrif myself to search for him. And I was about to, but then Roberto's voice came over on comms…

"Blu…" Roberto speaking with a tone full of fear. "Look up…"

I turned my attention from comms to do as Roberto told me, looking up as I right away regretted doing so. Coming out of the horizon of Sacrif was a moon… A moon that wasn't made naturally by the universe… This was the Death Star mentioned in the big meeting with all of the high council members of the Alliance, the "means of mass destruction" as my father put it. However even this huge monstrosity didn't catch my full attention as I turned my focus to trying to reach dad.

"Dad, this is Blu, please answer." I tried yet again, to no avail as the Death Star came closer and closer and soon enough cast its shadow over the fleet, darkening the insides of my cockpit. "Dad, come on…"

My frustration with trying to reach dad was once again interrupted, this time by the Death Star as a greenish glow now greeted me, so much that it hurt my eyes due to the slight intrusion. The greenish glow was the Death Star firing its deadly means of destruction as I was drawn to it, watching as the huge green energy beam shot its way down to the surface of Sacrif. The shot hitting the surface as it hit the water of the planet, creating a massive explosion, the biggest I have ever seen, which spread and created tidal waves, which would certainly keep going for hundreds of miles. The effect of the Death Star's power mesmerized me so much that I almost didn't hear the voice of Admiral Raddus speaking through comms.

"All ships, prepare for jump to hyperspace." Admiral Raddus ordered, but I didn't as I tried staying calm through my panic, realizing that dad could have been caught in the Death Star's shot.

"Dad, pick up, I know you're still alive." I tried in vain, refusing to believe he perished either before the Death Star's shot or by it.

And I certainly didn't prepare for hyperspace as a star destroyer came out of hyperspace in front of the fleet and blocked the way out, immediately firing its turbolasers at the fleet. Cutting through the smaller frigates and corvettes with ease as one of the Nebulon B frigates were snapped right in half by the turbolaser volleys intended for Admiral Raddus' flagship.

As I took a quick second to look up at the situation, Blue Twelve, who was nearby on the right was unfortunate to have been caught by a very lucky turbolaser shot, which blasted her X-Wing into a million pieces, not even a cry came from her on comms as it was quick and painless. It was most likely my fault for her demise, as both her and Roberto most likely were waiting for me to get out, however of course they didn't know I was waiting for dad.

"Blu, we have to get out of here now!" Roberto was yelling at me as the barrage from the star destroyer didn't stop for a second, the shots seeming to come closer and closer towards me.

"No, dad could still be alive, I'm not leaving without him!" I told Roberto angrily as I resumed my hopeless attempt in reaching my father. "Dad, this is your son, respond!"

"Blu, he's gone, trust me!" Roberto telling me the absolute and hard truth of the situation, as he was trying to snap me out of it. "Come on, that star destroyer started launching its TIEs, if we don't get shot by the star destroyer, those TIEs will!"

"Than leave!" I replied to Roberto. "If he's gone, than I might as well join him!" I started crying fully.

"You left me no choice than Blu…" Roberto sighed. "Jewel, get him out of there." Roberto told my droid as I looked up at her right after.

"Don't you dare do it Jewel!" I sternly told her as Jewel debated on what to do.

"Jewel, if you don't do it, you're both dead!" Roberto stating to the droid as that was all the motivation Jewel needed to get going to do what I couldn't bring myself to do.

I tried in vain to counter Jewel's actions, but it was too late as Jewel took control of the X-Wing over me and pointed the starfighter's nose away from the star destroyer before I watched the blackness of space becoming white lines of stars and a blue tunnel. Finally leaving Sacrif and headed back for Yavin 4 as I cursed everything, above all that I have lived through the battle when I should have died.

As my X-Wing was in hyperspace, there was nothing to do until I arrived at the Yavin system, so I took off my helmet and just let all my emotions run free, letting my helmet rest on my lap as I held my face with my wings, crying and crying until I felt I could fill the whole cockpit with my tears and drown in them.

Dad was gone and after seeing the power the Empire truly possessed, I felt no hope in me, all the confidence and strength I had in me charging into battle above Sacrif disappeared. It was over, as soon as I land back on Yavin 4, I would request to resign, give up because there was no more reason to fight.

So much for rebellions are built on hope…

And there we go!

A bit of a shorter chapter, but I do hope you enjoyed it nevertheless and are looking froward to the next and final chapter of this short story!

And well for those of you who did read The Scarlet Rebel and The Two Brothers, you all know this isn't the end of Blu's story.

And with that…

See everybird later!
