Carrie made her way towards Abel's new room out of the NICU. The only good thing to come from last night.
Jax had gone AWOL. She had called him and text him, worried that something had gone wrong but received no answer.
At first, she had thought something with Abel had come up. But Gemma had stopped by earlier and when Carrie had casually questioned last night's events. Gemma had informed her that Abel had been taken out of the NICU and incubation chamber last night. Which eased some of her frustration over him going AWOL.
Thinking that maybe he had spent the rest of the night with his son. But that wasn't the case because Gemma informed her yet again that they had both left the hospital about an hour or so after Abel had been taken out.
So even though Jax would have been late, he would have still shown up. Only he hadn't and he wasn't returning her calls or texts. Which frustrated her because she was not only hurt but she was starting to get angry. And angry Carrie tended to be a little irrational and jump to conclusions.
Carrie shook her head, getting rid of the different scenario running through her head. Taking a deep breath and slowly letting it out. She was going to stay calm and let him explain what had happened. Both of them acting like civilized adults and then they would discuss how to move on from this.
That was how she had planned for it to go, however, looking up into Abel's room she froze in her spot. Looking in as Jax and Tara were close to one another. Heads together and huddled close having a conversation that looked too intimate to be a report about his son.
She felt her heart drop thinking that maybe he was acting this way because he had gotten back with Tara. But surely he would have told her wouldn't he? There was no way that Jax was a big enough asshole to go behind her back in that way. At least not without talking to her first.
The only logical explanation was that they were talking about a personal matter. But that didn't mean it was about them, maybe it was about Abel.
Carrie didn't stick around after that. One, she didn't want to seem like she was stalking him but she also wasn't quite ready to face the truth just yet. Deciding on just waiting on him to make the first move now.
"Carolyn Blake?"
Carrie turned around to look at the woman in from of her. "Yes."
"Agent June Stahl, ATF." The blonde woman introduced, flashing her badge clipped to her hip. "Do you mind if we talk for a bit?"
Carrie shook her head. "I'm kinda busy doing my rounds," she informed, confused as to why an ATF agent would need to speak to her.
"I talked to your supervisor, got the okay for us to have a little chat but I'm going to need you to come with me to the station."
"Under what charges?"
"I'm not arresting you honey. I just have some questions for you but if you don't to do this the easy way. Then I'm sure a failure to comply charge will get you down there." Stahl said giving her a smug smile.
"Can I get my stuff?"
"Go ahead, lead the way." Agent Stahl motioned for Carrie to walk before following behind her.
"So I hear you're dating the resident bad boy of Charming. Mr. Jackson Nathaniel Teller," Agent Stahl looked up from the file in front of her. "What is it about bad boys that appeals to good girls? Or was it his charm and good looks that got to you?"
"We're not dating. At least not anymore. So if that's why you brought me down here then you got the wrong girl."
"Okay, I get it." Stahl held her hands up in surrender before giving her a smile. "Scorned lover huh. No big deal, then let's talk about you."
She closed one file and opened another one. "Let's see Carolyn Amelia Blake. Born May 15, 1982 to Lucille and Sean Blake. Grew up in Seattle and worked for Seattle Children's Hospital before moving here. No criminal history, not even a speeding ticket. Wow, look at you with a squeaky clean background."
Carrie scoffed, shaking her head while crossing her arms. Leaning back in her seat. "Why am I here?"
Stahl leaned forward. Giving her a smile that was anything but innocent. "You're here because we're having some girl talk. Catching up like friends do."
"We're not friends Agent Stahl."
"You're right. We're not friends," Stahl nodded, silently agreeing with her. "But we could be."
"Look if you brought me down here because of the club. Then you're out of luck because I don't have any ties to them."
"See that's where you're wrong. You do have other ties beside Mr. Teller. You're friends with Donna Winston, am I correct? Meaning you have ties to one Harry Winston, her husband. But I'm not here to talk to you about the club." Stahl said waving off the notion and shaking her head. "No I'm here to talk about you."
She took out some papers from the file and placed them in the center of the table. "See I thought it was time for you to know the truth. Especially now that your parents are both dead. There's no need to keep up the charade anymore. You see, Lucille and Sean Blake aren't your parents. At least not your biological parents, they were your adopted parents." She separated the papers before sliding them over to Carrie.
Carrie shakily reached out for them. Reading her birth certificate before reading the original. The one where all of her information was the same except for her last name and parent's names. Finally reading the adoption forms. Feeling her heart race and bile rise up her throat, swallowing to keep it at bay.
"I'm so sorry." Stahl looked at Carrie who was barely holding it together. Trying not to smile in victory, knowing this was just the beginning.
"No," she shook her head, clutching the papers closer. Wrinkling them from her tight grip. "This isn't true."
"I know this is a lot to take in and you need some time to process it. But whenever you're ready to talk I'm here and I'll explain everything."
Carrie looked up at the woman, tears welling in her eyes before abruptly standing and leaving the room. Taking the papers with her.
"Keep those copies. I have the originals." Stahl called out as Carrie rushed down the halls of the police station. Finally letting the smile, she had been holding at bay, out. Watching as she bumped into Deputy Chief Hale.
"Carrie? Are you alright?"
Carrie shook her head at David, shaking his hold off her. "I have to go."
David looked up to see Stahl walking towards them, with a smile and a smug look on her face, as Carrie brushed past him.
Turning towards Stahl as she stopped besides him. "What did you do?"
"I took initiative and did what I had too," She answered sounding smug. As they both watched Carrie rush out of the station doors.
Carrie and Donna sat quietly at the kitchen table. The papers scattered around the surface.
Donna finally broke the silence. Looking up at Carrie. "Do you think this is true?"
"It's literally written on paper Donna," Carrie shook her head. Feeling the tears well up once more. "I don't think it could be any clearer or truthful as that."
"I mean if she's after the club she could have made it up." Donna reached forward, squeezing her hand in support.
Carrie shook her head. "What would she gain out of it?"
"I don't know, information on the club? She's an ATF agent."
"Yeah," Carrie nodded, agreeing to Donna's previous statement. But the new information had muddled any rational thinking. " And according to these papers, she just so happens to be my mother. I mean what the fuck."
Donna nodded in sympathy, squeezing her hand once more. "Yeah and one Piermont Winston is your father."
Carrie shook her head, running her hands through her hair. "This can't be happening."
"Look don't overthink this. There's one way to know for sure." Donna said causing Carrie to look up at her. "A DNA test. There's no way to bullshit that."
"And how am I supposed to do that. I can't just walk up to Piney and take a sample or go up to Stahl for it."
"What about Opie?" Donna suggested shrugging nonchalantly.
"Donna, no," Carrie quickly shook her head. "He's going to think I'm crazy."
"He doesn't have to know. I could get some hair or swab his mouth in his sleep."
"This is crazy." Carrie sighed.
"But it could work and this would be the only way you know whether at least half of that theory is right."
Carrie paced the empty hospital hallway. Waiting for Donna to arrive with the DNA sample.
Feeling nervous while thinking they were crazy for doing this. But she knew this was the only way to have some proof. Even if the test wouldn't be as conclusive as if they had Piney tested least it would be a start to show what possibility of truth those papers held.
"I'm here," Donna breathlessly called out, waving the ziplock bag at her. "You have no idea how long it took me to get that sample. I was going to do it in his sleep but every time I moved in, he switched positions making it impossible for me to swab him."
Carrie nervously took the sample from her. Looking down at it. "This is crazy."
"Hey, this is one step closer to finding out the truth," Donna reassured her. "If this shows some possibility then we can go to phase two. Get a sample directly from the source with proof from this one to back up your claims."
"What if it's just some big hoax?"
Donna shook her head. "Then I almost choked my husband for that sample for nothing but at least it was payback for him lying to me about the club."
Carrie looked at Donna in disbelief, hoping she was joking but knowing she was serious at her satisfied expression.
Shaking her head she motioned down the hall. "I should go and get this over with."
"You want me to come with you?"
"Thank you but I'll be okay. I have to get back to my rounds after this."
Donna nodded. "Okay. Let me know as soon as you find out something. When should you have the results?"
"Will do and if I can get the samples in soon," Carrie glanced at the watch on her wrist. "Then I should know by the time I leave at the end of my shift. If not by sometime tomorrow."
"That quick?"
Carrie shrugged. "I guess it's a slow day for them but one of the lab techs is rushing the results. Owes a favor to Kenz or something like that."
"Mackenzie has the hook ups around here huh." Donna softly laughed as Carrie nodded in answer. "Well go ahead, get this over with. Call me if you need me."
"Will do. Thank you for this Donna."
"Anytime. You're my best friend, practically my sister with or without those results." Donna pointed out before smiling at Carrie. Waving her down the hall. "Now go before you run out of time."
Let me know what you guys think.
Do you think there's any truth to it or is it just all a part of Stahl's game to get to SAMCRO?
What will the results conclude and how will things progress from now?
What about Jax going AWOL on Carrie will they be able to move on from that or will that relationship crash and burn before it even really began?
