''My Immortal.''

A 'No Dialogue' Fanfiction Story

by Foxy Hedgehog.

( Present Day ) Author's Note:

Yep, that's right... your eyes do not deceive you...

I have yet another Fanfiction for you to read and enjoy~.

Although... because this is a pretty sad Story, please don't take it too personally... I was really going through a depressive state when I originally wrote this...

But don't worry about it. This is still a pretty good Story~.

So... here we go~!

( 09-27-2019 ) Author's Note:

*waves with both hands*

Hey everyone. I'm back, just like I said I would be.

And now, coming to you straight from my mind with no pre-written plan laid out, is a 'Thomas and Friends', 'Boys Love', 'No Dialogue', One-shot. Featuring Percy and James~!

This is also a Song Fanfic with no lyrics, but don't worry about it, it's still a good read.

I do have a bit of a warning for you though, this Fanfiction is pretty sad, but has enough fluffy and sweet moments to balance it out. Which is why everyone and anyone into their teens can read this.

And now for the usual disclaimer: I do not own 'Thomas and Friends'. And I do not own the song name, 'My Immortal' or anything related to it, the talented Evanescence owns it. (you should listen to the band version of this song, it's amazingly powerful!)

Also, all sentient beings of Sodor are at least over 100 years old. (yes, I have to say this everytime I write a 'Thomas and Friends' Story, so you don't get the wrong idea).

Well, with that outta the way, let's get reading!

No matter what the weather is like on the Island of Sodor, the Locomotives and Automotives manage to pull through and be Really Useful.

Today, there was a light gray overcast that covered every inch of the Island, sending down it's lightest rain: Mist.

But nobody seemed to mind. The Engines, Diesels, Road Vehicles, and Human residents all thought that it had a nice, tranquil vibe to it, and it made them happily go about their day like nothing was wrong. Even Cranky the Crane seemed less cranky.

Everyone was in good spirits throughout the Island.

Everyone... except for one Engine.

~~~~~
That afternoon, a little Green Saddletank Engine was puffing quietly through the Countryside, pulling a Train of fruits and vegetables to take to the Farms across the Island.
It was Percy, and he was feeling very miserable.
No one really noticed though, because every time he saw one of his friends like, Thomas, Edward, Emily, Henry, Toby, et cetera, Percy would put on a bright smile and whistle cheerfully in greeting, so no one would question his demeanor. But once they were completely out of sight, Percy's expression would change back into a sad frown, as he continued huffing along the rails.
Soon, the Green Saddletank Engine came to a stop at a signal.
As he waited, Percy heard a soft rustling sound for a minute. He sighed, thinking it was nothing. But then his eyes widened when he heard the noise again, louder this time.
Percy looked around as best as he could for the source of the noise, which was getting closer.
Then... silence, again.
Suddenly, a female deer darted out from behind some bushes on the right side of the tracks, and sprinted across to the other side. Narrowly missing the front buffers of Sodor's Green Number 6 Engine.
Percy was so startled that he yelped with fright and went backwards a few inches, bumping his load, but not too much.
The Troublesome Trucks sniggered loudly at the Green Saddletank. Lucky for Percy, that's all they did at his expense, for the weather seemed to keep the Trucks calm, making them somewhat less... troublesome.
Percy's sadness was quickly replaced by anger as he snarled, mostly to himself.
In all the years that he's lived and worked on the Island of Sodor, Percy thought that he would be mature enough to not get scared or frightened so easily over the simplest things.
But yet... he still did.
And Percy was getting really tired of it.
After recovering from his sudden jumpscare, Percy heard a familiar whistle.
Two tracks over, James, the Splendid Red Mixed Traffic Engine puffed through with his passenger coaches. He was enjoying himself and being Really Useful.
Percy didn't even bother to smile, he just let out a low whistle to make his presence known as James continued puffing past Percy, going the opposite direction.
Shortly after that, the signal on Percy's side went down and he huffed onward, feeling more sadder than what he was before.
~~~~~

Unbeknownst to the Number 6 Tank Engine, James noticed Percy's attitude towards him, and Sodor's Number 5 Tender Engine wondered what got the little Green Saddletank in such a sour mood.

However, if James thought a little bit longer and just a little bit harder, he would know the answer.

~~~~~
The reason behind Percy's depression was this:
A few days ago a shipment of miscellaneous items, that was supposed to be delivered to Horwich Works, was somehow accidentally sent to Brendam Docks.
So, Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth Sheds and announced that he needed an Engine to take the load to the Yorkshire Railway on the Mainland where the Works was.
Of course, James jumped at the opportunity and volunteered willingly to make the trip. Mostly because Yorkshire was the place where James was originally from, and he really wanted to go there and hopefully visit some old friends.
Very impressed by the Splendid Red Engine's enthusiasm, The Fat Controller agreed to let James take the load up to Horwich Works.
While waiting for the Yorkshire bound Train to be prepared, James continued to do his regular work and be on his best behavior.
But still, Sodor's Splendid Number 5 couldn't contain his excitement, and he let everyone else around him know it.
While some Engines were pretty happy for James, others were glad to finally be rid of the vain Red Tender Engine for a few days, especially after hearing that Sir Topham Hatt also allowed James to spend some time at Yorkshire and work, if he wanted to.
However, Percy seemed to be the only Engine that had mixed feelings about James' trip to the Mainland.
Over time, the little Green Saddletank had harbored a secret crush on the Splendid Red Number 5 Engine, despite their complicated friendship.
But every time Percy tried to talk to him about his feelings, James would go off again, talking about his Mainland Trip or something, and wouldn't shut up.
So, Percy finally gave up and made up his mind to ignore the big Red Engine, only to find out later that it would be harder than he thought.
~~~~~

As he went on puffing down the line with his Train of vegetation in tow, Percy began to wish that James would hurry up and leave already. Because every time the little Number 6 Engine saw the big Red Number 5 Engine, it was like adding a really bad insult to a terrible injury.

While Percy was thinking about it, he remembered all the various times that James teased him and made fun of him, and Percy also thought about when James scared him with the scrap monster. Not to mention the time before that, when the vain Mixed Traffic Engine told Percy about the Phantom Express, and then later scared him and Stephen near Ulfstead.

As the day went on, Percy's heart ached as he thought about some not-so-good memories between him and James.

But, little did the Green Saddletank know, that the pain would soon get much worse very quickly.

~~~~~
Later that night at Tidmouth Sheds, all the Engines were fast asleep... except for one.
Starting from left: Gordon, Henry, James, Percy, Edward, Emily, and Thomas were settled comfortably in their respective berths.
(Edward was spending the night at the Sheds temporarily, while Nia was working the Night Shift at Wellsworth for a little while).
Percy stayed awake until he was sure that all the Engines were completely asleep. Then he carefully backed further into his berth until he was barely inches from the buffers.
Although Sodor's Green Number 6 spent most of the day thinking about the bad times between him and James, Percy couldn't help but remember the good times he had with Sodor's Splendid Number 5.
No matter how hard Percy tried to forget about James, there were just too many good memories that remained in the Green Saddletank's smokebox, for him to forget about the Splendid Red Tender Engine.
~~~~~

And so, with a small smile on his face, Percy remembered the day when he found James in a barely used siding, crying softly, because some of the other Engines were bullying the Number 5 Tender Engine, claiming that he was at fault for Edward leaving Tidmouth Sheds.

Of course, Percy knew very well that wasn't true at all, and without a second thought, he buffered up to the Splendid Red Engine, to comfort and console him.

James was a bit surprised, but also grateful for the young Saddletank's kindness.

Then Percy thought about that heart pounding moment at the Sodor China Clay Company, where James was yelling about a monster and was so scared he went backwards, until Percy seen that it was a landslide and bravely shunted the Red Engine out of harm's way, not caring about the danger he was putting himself in.

And lastly, Percy thought about the various times he and James apologized and made up to each other, for some things or other in general.

Even though James was vain and boastful sometimes, he was still a Really Useful and hard working Engine, with a good heart.

And he was the one Percy really cared for, flaws and all.

~~~~~
That's when the little Green Saddletank's depression got stronger, and he began to sob quietly. Tears fell from Percy's eyes and landed on his buffer beam, as he struggled with his feelings for Sodor's Splendid Red Number 5 Tender Engine.
Percy was so wrapped up in his emotions, that he didn't know that said Tender Engine woke up, and he was not cross for once, instead James was genuinely concerned when he heard the soft sniffling and crying.
So he quietly backed up as far as he could, until he saw Sodor's Number 6 Tank Engine, whose eyes were closed as he sobbed.
James felt his heart sink at the sight of one of his good friends in such despair.
For a second James thought Percy might've had a nightmare, but quickly dismissed the idea. Because the way he was crying, it looked like the little Saddletank just lost his best friend, or had his heart broken.
Then, James suddenly felt the strong desire to go comfort his friend, but before he could do anything, Percy's sobs quieted down as he drifted off to sleep.
Once he was certain that Percy was sound asleep, the Splendid Red Tender Engine sighed heavily as he quietly puffed forward to his original spot, his thoughts full of what he witnessed this very night.
Even though he didn't show it much, James really did care about his Engine friends, and he was more worried than ever about Sodor's Green Number 6, and still wondering what the issue was even when his own eyes finally closed.
But tomorrow... everything would soon become crystal clear.
~~~~~

Early morning on the next overcast day, James was coupled up to his Horwich bound load. And with a polite whistle to announce his departure, the Splendid Red Mixed Traffic Engine left the Docks and began his journey to the Yorkshire Railway.

But James wasn't excited about his Mainland Trip anymore.

His mind was now full of thoughts and memories about Percy, Sodor's Green Number 6 Saddletank. The little Engine who seemed more cheerful and cheeky than Thomas, and almost never seemed to hold a grudge against anyone.

But earlier before James left Tidmouth Sheds, the Steam Team bid him farewell, except for Percy, who was still sleeping in his berth.

The other Engines didn't question it, because the little Tank Engine often pulled the Mail Train at night, and was usually pretty tired afterwards.

But deep down, Sodor's Splendid Number 5 knew that Percy was just pretending to be asleep. And James had a very slight feeling that it had something to do with him, but still couldn't quite figure it out... yet.

~~~~~
As James continued on his way to the Mainland, he started remembering the early days when Percy first came to Sodor.
The Green and Red Engines didn't really get off on the right 'wheel' to start with, but later on, James soon became secretly captivated by the young Tank Engine's determination and bravery. From the time Percy 'raced' Harold the Helicopter, to the time he pushed through rain and water to get the children safely home, and so on.
This often made the Splendid Tender Engine wonder what life was like for Percy on his previous Railway before moving to Sodor, but he never took the time to ask.
Then, out of the blue, James found himself smiling as he recalled the various times he saw Percy's face.
No matter, what expression the little Saddletank had, it made the Splendid Red Engine's firebox light up like a pleasant dream. Like the time Percy was complaining about his clogged whistle, and accidentally splattered mud on Gordon, then he (and James) tried not to laugh.
But then James had to cringe a bit when he thought about the time he was painted like a bumblebee, thanks to a certain 'Green Controller'! However, the look on Percy's face when he saw the Splendid Mixed Traffic Engine was priceless.
And finally, there were moments when James heard Percy's voice. So innocent and naive that it made the Splendid Red Engine crazy at how adorable and cute the young Saddletank sounded.
~~~~~

James' eyes widened and he blushed as red as his paintwork at the last thought. Sodor's Splendid Number 5 wondered where such a thought came from, but when he soon arrived to the Yorkshire Railway, James quickly composed himself and pushed all his thoughts to the back of his mind.

However, it was now James' turn to be miserable and depressed.

As the Splendid Red Engine made his way to the Horwich Works, he found out that everyone that he used to know... weren't there anymore. They were all gone in some way or another.

There were a few other Steam and Diesel Engines around, but they didn't say much to James, which didn't really bother him because he didn't talk much to the other Engines either, as the Mixed Traffic Tender Engine helped out around the Railway for the rest of the day. While lamenting mournfully over the information he just received.

Crashing into a field, getting repaired with a newspaper and a bootlace, running into tar wagons, and crashing through Tidmouth Sheds. Those old wounds were nothing compared to the real pain James was feeling right now.

~~~~~
Soon night fell and work on the Yorkshire Railway was finished for the day.
James had to wait until tomorrow morning to go back to Sodor, so he was spending the night alone in one of the Sheds.
As the Splendid Red Engine closed his eyes and tried to go to sleep, his thoughts of Percy from earlier started coming back to him.
At first James tried to push those thoughts away again, but there were just too many good memories about him and the Green Saddletank Engine for James to ignore.
And besides, as far as the Red Number 5 was concerned, he needed to think about the good memories, after the rough day he had.
~~~~~

So, James remembered, around sometime after the Diesels and Steamworks incident, when he saw Percy resting at Knapford Sheds, and to the Splendid Red Engine's shock, the poor sweet little Tank Engine had tears flowing from his closed eyes.

Even though Percy was forgiven for the whole ordeal, he still felt bad for trusting Diesel 10 in the first place.

No one else knew this but James felt sorry for Percy, so he buffered up to the Green Saddletank and whispered friendly reassuring words to him.

Next, James recalled when he, Thomas, and Percy had to take a heavy Goods Train to Ulfstead Castle.

It was a hard trip, and Sodor's Splendid Number 5 would never forget the frightened hollering he heard from the Number 6 Saddletank as the three Engines sped down the other side of Gordon's Hill.

But because they worked together, the Power Trio were able to make it to the Earl's Estate in no time at all!

And last but not least, James thought about the time when Percy was feeling down because he was missing Gator, that's when the Red Tender Engine took it upon himself to cheer up the Number 6 Tank Engine by telling him that maybe someday soon he would see Gator on Sodor again, and when that happened, James said he would try to convince Sir Topham Hatt to let the alligator-shaped Engine stay on the Island forever. And hearing that made Percy very happy.

Even though Percy had that childlike innocence about him, he still matured into the brave and hard working Engine that everyone was glad to call their friend.

But deep inside the Splendid Red Engine's firebox, he felt that they could've been something more...

~~~~~
Suddenly, James opened his eyes wide with a soft gasp of realization. He finally knew what Percy's problem was!
Of course the Mixed Traffic Tender Engine could be wrong, but that was a chance he was willing to take.
And what better opportunity to confirm his theory than tonight.
And so, with a new-found determination in his heart, James filled up with coal and water, and shot off into the night.
Away from the Yorkshire Railway, and back to Sodor.
~~~~~

Meanwhile, Sodor's Number 6 Green Saddletank Engine was in his berth, wide awake and deep in thought once again, while his Engine friends were sleeping peacefully.

Percy sighed sadly, he was beginning to regret pretending to be asleep, just so he wouldn't say goodbye to James.

Throughout the rest of the day, Percy wore a friendly expression to avoid any unwanted questions.

But it was tough, because the little Green Tank Engine was hurting very much inside, by trying so hard to tell himself that James was gone. And even though Sodor's Splendid Red Number 5 would eventually return to the North Western Railway, the Number 6 Tank Engine would still be all alone...

Well, that wasn't really true, because Percy had plenty of great friends, but it just wouldn't be the same, with the Green Saddletank's feelings for a certain Splendid Ruby-painted Engine still bottled up inside.

Then, Percy narrowed his eyes and tightened his lips in determination. He had enough!

The little Saddletank didn't care how late it was, or about getting into trouble. He was going to find James and tell that Big, Splendid, vain, Rusty Red Mixed Traffic Tender Engine EXACTLY how he felt!

So, Percy puffed carefully onto the turntable and away from Tidmouth Sheds.

Once he was out on the Main Line, the Green Number 6 picked up speed and took off in the direction of the Mainland.

~~~~~
At just about the same time, James made it across the Vicarstown Bridge, with nothing but the lamp on his buffer beam to light the way as he too sped along down the rails.
The Green and Red Engines were huffing as fast as they could and puffing their hardest to reach one another.
As James continued on his way, he saw a light up ahead on the same track he was on, and was too far away from a Signalbox to have the points switched!
So the Mixed Traffic Engine whistled warningly and shut his eyes tight as he braked hard with a soft grunt, completely unaware that the other Engine was none other than Percy.
The young Tank Engine seemed to be thinking the exact same thing as James, so he also whistled a warning, shut his eyes tightly, and applied his brakes as hard as he could.
The two Engines stopped about a couple inches from each other, their buffer lamps dimming as they got closer.
(This was another upgrade for the Engines of Sodor: At night, when an Engine comes face to face with another Engine, their buffer lamps will dim down automatically to avoid blinding one another).
About five seconds later, the two Engines opened their eyes simultaneously, then widened once they saw each other.
The Locomotive that each Engine had been looking for, was sitting right in front of them, and neither one knew what to say.
Percy opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out.
James just licked his lips a bit, unsure of how to respond.
But in cases like this where actions speak louder than words, sometimes spoken words simply seemed unnecessary.
Percy tried to hold back his tears, but failed as they welled up in his eyes and streamed down his face. The little Saddletank looked away, blushing embarrassingly.
Then James expression changed into one of genuine concern as he carefully moved towards Percy, and gently buffered up to him in a comforting manner.
Next, the Splendid Red Engine exhaled softly, his breath ghosting over the young Saddletank Engine's sweet face, soothingly.
Noticing this, Percy looked up at Sodor's Splendid Number 5 and gazed into his eyes, sighing blissfully.
What Percy saw in James' handsome eyes was far deeper than any care the big Red Engine ever showed.
It was real love.
The vainest Engine on the Island was actually showing real love for the little Green Tank Engine.
Percy was so happy and relieved that he was now crying tears of joy, and giggling softly.
Seeing the young Tank Engine in such joyfulness made James' firebox warm his whole body.
However in his mind, James was regretting not paying any attention to Percy's actions sooner. Because if he had, then the Number 6 Engine wouldn't have been in so much pain up until now.
The thought was so upsetting that the Splendid Number 5 had tears of his own flowing from his eyes, as he kept a small smile on his face, so as not to worry the Green Saddletank.
But Percy did notice, and he pressed his buffers tightly against James' buffers, silently begging him not to cry.
Then, closing their eyes, the Green and Red Engines rubbed their tear stained faces together, to ensure that they accepted each other and all was forgiven. Next, they both let off steam, and it magically wrapped itself around the two Locomotives in an Engine's version of a hug.
Finally, James brushed his lips against Percy's, the Green Saddletank then took the initiative and placed his lips upon James' in a loving kiss. The Splendid Red Engine gladly kissed back, making it a little more passionate as well.
When one Engine would cry, the other would comfort and kiss away all of their tears.
When an Engine screamed, their love would fight or chase away all of their fears.
And as the Red and Green Engines continued to share their love, switching between gentle and passionate kissing, they made a silent vow to hold on to each other for years to come.
Soon, Percy and James ceased their kissing and fell asleep in each other's hold, not caring that they were sitting out on the Main Line, and not knowing where they were at.
~~~~~

All was quiet...

Until the sound of steam puffing was heard, and a Sky Blue Mixed Traffic Tender Engine approached the two sleeping Engines, wearing a content smile.

It was Edward, the Number 2 Engine of Sodor.

Being a slightly light sleeper, Edward was woken up by the two Engine's whistles. So the K2 decided to leave his Shed in Wellsworth and investigate the noise.

Once he got out to the Main Line and saw the Number 6 and 5 Engines, Edward stayed hidden in the shadows and watched the lovely exchange, with nothing but love and support in his heart for his good friends.

Being the kind, wise old Engine that he was, Edward knew that something personal was bothering Percy for awhile, but he never forced the little Engine to talk if he didn't want to.

And now, after what he witnessed this very night, the Sky Blue Mixed Traffic Engine was relieved that the young Saddletank's personal issue was resolved, and the Island of Sodor had an adorable new couple.

So, with a quiet puff and a silent chuff, Edward carefully shunted the two sleeping Red and Green Engines to Wellsworth. (which wasn't very far from the Main Line)

It took quite a bit of time, but Sodor's loyal Number 2 Engine managed to get Percy and James into one of the long Sheds in Wellsworth Yard. (still sleeping face to face)

Then Edward backed into his own side of the Shed that he shared with Philip. (the little Boxcab had been asleep this whole time)

Very soon, the Blue K2 closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep, wishing nothing but the best for Sodor's Splendid Red Number 5 and Green Number 6.

~~~~~
Tomorrow, the sun would cut through the overcast and shine brighter than before on the North Western Railway.
Because Lucky Percy and Blazing James would now have...
All of each other.
( 10-29-2019 ) Author's Note 2: (finally!)
Oof! Whew... I'm done now.
Sorry it took so long to finish this Story. It wasn't meant to take this long. (a lot of stuff came up and it kept me pretty busy)
Anyway, I had to rethink a few things and change a few things, but in the end I suppose it came out alright.
I'm sorry to say this, but this will be my last 'No Dialogue' Fanfiction for a very very long while. (I don't want something good to get old really fast)
I also really want to go back to writing regular Stories, because I don't want the 'No Dialogue' thing to become an overused habit.
But I need to finish up some other things before I write another Fanfiction.
Also, the one true reason why I wrote this: I really can't say everything for personal private reasons, but I wrote this Story because it reflects how I would feel for a certain someone... if they stopped doing what they love because of those awful haters! (this also applies to other people as well)
No matter what people say, just keep doing what you love, or it'll tear you apart from the inside out.
Well, have a good day/night or whatever, I've got to go and take care of things, but I'll be back someday~.
Bye~!
~xoxo~
( Present Day ) Author's Note 2:
Well... it looks like we've reached the end of another Fanfiction Story...
And I'm very sorry to say that this really is gonna be my last Story for awhile... A long while.
But I'll return someday... I don't know when... but I'll return sometime later on.
I'm also really sorry if this Story was too sad for you...
But remember... there's always a little light to shine on the dark days, and that light is what keeps us going, no matter what~.
And for me... I have a certain Splendid light... that shines extremely bright for me every day~.
And I am so glad to have that wonderful light in my life~.
So anyway... I hope you enjoyed the Story, and I'll see you later sometime~.
And please continue staying strong, safe, healthy, and positive~.
I love you all so very much~.
