"The night of Bobby's party, Gemma didn't drive into the barricade. She was jumped, three of Zobelle's took her to the utility house and gave her a message to deliver. 'stop selling guns'." Clay glanced at Jax before looking back at the table. "They raped her."
There was a mix of disbelief around the table, the good mood at Jax not leaving immediately had dropped when Clay began to talk. But after hearing about Gemma being raped, that had completely crushed them.
"One of the them was Weston," Clay angrily said, clenching his fist.
"What do we do?" Opie questioned, from his seat at the end of the table next to Piney.
"We get bloody and then we chop their damn heads off, that's what we do," Chibs angrily spoke up, getting a round of agreement from Tig and Bobby.
Clay looked at Jax, who took that as his cue to talk. Jax knew there would be backlash, mostly from Opie since they still hadn't fully resolved their issues. "The attack on Carrie, that was Zobelle's crew. Weston almost raped her, but instead he ended up knocking her out because he got call, most likely from Zobelle," Jax said looking at the end of the table where Piney and Opie sat. "But that phone call was what saved her from meeting the same fate as my mother."
Noticing the anger in their eyes, before taking a deep breath. Getting ready for an outburst from his best friend once he finished telling them everything. "He gave her the same message and told her to make sure we got it or they'd go after all the old ladies and any one affiliated with the club. It was meant as a message to Hale too, but that's not all of it."
Jax glanced at Clay who gave him a subtle nod, before he looked around the table. "Carrie's pregnant and there's a chance it's mine."
"You son of bitch!" Opie jumped out of his chair, trying to get to Jax as Piney and Chibs held him back. The rest of the guys yelled at him to calm down. Piney angrily glared at Jax over his shoulder.
"Hey!" Clay called out, slamming the gavel to restore order from the chaos that had broken out. "Get it under control, you can fight it out in the ring, after we deal with Zobelle and his crew." Waiting for them to take their seats before turning back to Jax, letting him take the floor again.
"We ain't ever see an assault like this, let alone two," Jax shook his head feeling the anger race through his veins. Knowing they had to retaliate but they had to go about the smart way. No matter how much he wanted to go and put a bullet in Weston there and then. "I want to make them pay, believe me there is nothing more that I want to do. But a show of force, by us going in guns blazing, is only going to put us back in jail. We have to play it smart like they have, find a weakness and unravel them."
"Until then, no one," Clay said giving a pointed look around the table. "Reacts or does anything stupid. You see Zobelle, Weston or any of their crew and you swallow that urge to kill. Force yourself to move on, their time will come. Understood?"
"You know you can't avoid David forever."
"I'm not avoiding him Donna," Carrie said, as she sat at the kitchen table.
"Yeah, okay, then how come you had me lie to him earlier?"
Carrie sighed, before leaning back against the chair. "Okay, fine, I'm avoiding him but he's not the only one I'm avoiding," Carrie admitted, not looking up from the table top.
Donna shook her head, letting out a snort. "Jax isn't going to fall for it. If he wants to get to you, he'll get to you. Even if he has to force himself in or break into the house," Donna leaned forward, reaching out to grab onto Carrie's hand. "Look, I get it. Granted I've never been in your situation before, but I get how you feel, the shock of an unplanned pregnancy. I know you're feeling guilty at not knowing who the dad is. That guilt is what is causing you to avoid David and soon enough Jax. But you can't avoid them forever, you need to come clean."
"There's no way for you to hide a pregnancy, take it from me. I tried it and failed but I had Opie to be there as my support system. Jax already knows about his possibility of being the father, now you have to let Hale know that he might be having a baby. Talk to them both about what you want from them," Donna sighed, softly squeezing her head. "I'm in your corner no matter what happens and no matter who turns out to be the father.
Carrie knew Donna was right, she needed to come clean to David but she didn't know how to do it. The news that it might not be his would crush him and she didn't want to hurt him but she couldn't live a lie. It was better to come clean and set her expectations for the both of them and if it came down to her having to raise the baby on her own. Then she could it and she would.
"Hey, Ope the bike looks beautiful," Tig said as he approached Opie." You need any help?"
"Nah, I'm good thanks though."
Tig nodded before sighing, "Awful thing about Gemma and Carrie." He said watching as Opie nodded. Letting the silence linger between them. Before voicing the question that had been haunting him. "Hey, how come Donna was driving the truck the night of the accident?"
"She wanted to help Gemma with cleanup and I offered to take the kids home, but I needed the back seat," Opie stopped working on the bike to look over at Tig.
"I'm so sorry Ope but she wasn't supposed to be in the truck," Tig stated shaking his head, feeling guilty and knowing what was coming. Knowing he deserved what Opie dished out for almost taking his wife from him.
"You son of bitch," Opie said before rushing him, punching him before pushing and holding him against the tow truck. "What did you did do?"
"It was Stahl Ope, she made you out to be a rat. She's the one who's really responsible for what happened to Donna," Tig explained.
"I came clean! Me and Clay were good," Opie angrily held Tig up by the hair, arm raised ready to throw another punch.
"Me and Clay, we didn't want to believe it, but she had your truck and cell wired. Then the feds put money in your accounts. Stahl wanted to make us believe you were the rat," Tig shook his head as Opie's grip loosened. "It was supposed to be you in the truck Opie and not Donna."
Donna glanced out the living room window. "It's David, again."
Carrie sighed from the couch. "Just let him in, the sooner I talk to him the better."
Donna nodded just as he knocked on the door. Moving to go and open it, letting him in before leaving them alone. "What happened?"
Carrie looked down at the pillow on her lap before looking up at him. "Zobelle," she stated looking at him seeing him tense up. "Weston said to deliver a message to you. That you needed to 'stop helping the leather wearing heathens and do your job' and that you need to learn no to betray your race and work with traitors."
"Jesus Christ," David sighed before looking away, angrily shaking his head. "The club know about this?" Carrie nodded, hearing David curse, looking up to see him pinching the bridge of his nose. "You know they're going to go after them right? What happened to you and Gemma, they're not going to let the law take care of it."
"I know."
"You're okay with that?" David incredulously questioned.
"Gemma was raped by them David," Carrie shook her head looking away. "Weston would have raped me too, but he didn't get the chance because him and his other cronies were called away. So yeah, I'm okay with knowing that if the club gets to them, they're going to put those animals down."
David looked at her in disbelief. "What happened to sweet and rational Carrie?" He questioned before shaking his head. "I know you're angry right now because of what they did. But violence isn't the answer, it's just going to keep getting worse. You need to be rational about this."
"I am being rational," Carrie argued before shaking her head. "Believe me, I thought about this and the only answer is for them to get what's coming to them. If not, they get arrested do some time in jail and then what? They'll just get out and most likely do it again."
"Unser made me acting Chief now," David looked down at his shoes. "He said he was going to do everything he could to protect the club."
"Who's side are you going to be on?"
David looked up at her. "I'm going to be on the side that's right and that's the law's."
Carrie shook her head. "I'm pregnant," Carrie blurted out before looking away from him. Not wanting to see his heart break with her next sentence. "I found out yesterday. Because of the attack they wanted to monitor me, to see if a miscarriage occurred, that's why I wasn't discharged until this morning. I don't know how far along I am, but there's a possibility of it not being yours."
"Jax?" David whispered.
Carrie nodded before looking at him. "It was before you and I got together, but it'd only be a three week difference. Guess I really am a whore aren't I?" She questioned him, using the name Jacob had called her not that long ago. "Don't let the hatred you feel for the club blind you in this thing with Zobelle."
David didn't say anything, he just stared at her for a little bit longer, before turning around and leaving. Carrie knew he needed some time to take in the news, but that didn't lessen he sting any less.
"Look I don't know what is is about," Stahl said holding her hands up in surrender as she leaned against the car. "But this is not the way to go about it Opie."
"Shut up," Opie ordered her before searching her for her gun.
"You found out something about Donna didn't you?"
"Don't you talk about her," Opie said shoving the gun into her face, causing her to bring her hands up and try to calm him down.
"What do you want from me?"
"I want you to feel what I feel," Opie stated not lowering the gun.
"I never thought you or your family would get hurt Opie," Stahl said before shaking her head. "I underestimated Clay's way of thinking for vengeance-"
"Don't you dare and try to pass the blame," Opie argued, glaring at her. "You knew, what would happen. You knew if the club found out, how this would go down."
Stahl nodded. "Okay, I'll take my fair share of the guilt. It does come with the territory but I'm not the one who pulled the trigger."
"Donna was an innocent in all of this," Opie looked at her seeing the fear run through her. "And she got shot because of you. You may not have pulled the trigger, but you're the bitch that set it all up. You got the ball rolling on it."
Stahl flinched, closing her eyes waiting for him to pull the trigger. Before he roughly grabbed her hand and placing the empty magazine into her hand. "You're lucky Donna lived. The outlaw had mercy, you remember that the next time you try to twist the truth and get one of us killed. Because next time, you might not walk away."
"Hey, I've been looking everywhere for you man."
Opie turned the sink off, drying his hands, before walking out. "I didn't kill her."
Jax nodded before taking a seat on the chair while Opie sat down on the bed. Both silent in their thoughts before Opie looked up at him. "How the hell am I supposed to share a patch with them? Clay and Tig almost killed my wife. That's what the rift between you and Clay was about wasn't it? You knew."
"She survived Ope, but you're right. I couldn't tell you though, you were already trying to deal with almost losing her. It doesn't sit right with me but the burden falls on the club. We're the ones who made Clay the way he is."
"Then how do we unmake him?"
Jax scoffed shaking his head. "Shit, I don't know but I know I can't do this without you. I need my best friend with me."
Opie nodded. "What about Carrie? What's going to happen with her?"
Jax shook his head. "I don't know man. I'm barely wrapping my head on being a father to one kid. Now I might have another," Jax looked at the floor before looking up at Opie. "Just know that I'll be there for her. If it's my kid, she's not raising it alone. All the other bullshit, we'll figure it out as it goes."
Opie looked at him closely, before shaking his head. "When are you going to get your head out of your ass man. You know you love her, if you didn't you wouldn't have jumped at Clay on trying to put protection on her. Don't think I haven't noticed the way you look at Hale. Ever since he started seeing Carrie, it's like you're trying to kill him by just looking at him."
Jax shook his head. "I'm with Tara man. I'm happy with her and Carrie's happy with Hale."
Opie rolled his eyes. "You're both in love with each other but whatever. Keep living in denial, we'll see how far that goes."
Carrie looked away from the tv as the front door opened. "You're home. Finally pull your head out of your ass?"
"One of us had to, seeing as how your's is still up there," Opie shrugged nonchalantly. "Figured it should be me."
"Real funny asshole." Carrie shook her head, before smiling at Opie as he sat down next to her. "I'm glad though, I know the kids and Donna really miss you. The old you, not the new distant you."
"Figured out that it could have been worse. Donna could have actually died and I was mourning something that hadn't happened. I should have been there for her, but instead I was caught up in my own guilt but now I see it for what it is."
Carrie glanced over Opie's shoulder seeing Donna silently standing there, listening in. "What's that Ope?"
"A second chance, to do it all right. No secrets or bullshit, I almost lost her already. I wouldn't have had a choice then, but now I'm not going to willingly lose her," Opie answered, looking down at the ground.
Startled by the hand on his left shoulder, when Carri was seated to his right, he looked to see Donna. Neither said anything but he knew she had heard, the tears in her eyes confirmed it.
"I'm going to go check on the kids," Carrie said getting up from the couch. "Give you sometime to kiss and makeup."
"Carrie," Opie called out causing her to turn around. "I'll drive you to your apartment in a little bit. I'm gonna need you to pack some more clothes, both of you need to pack. W're going on lockdown. So if you don't have time off, call your supervisor and let them know you're not going in."Carrie nodded before heading down the hall. Leaving him and Donna alone both of them silent as she sat down next to him.
"You really mean what you told Carrie?"
Opie turned to look at Donna. "Yeah, I know I've been absent and I'm really sorry. I should have stayed and helped out. Not putting it all on Carrie and Mary and that's my mistake," He shook his head. "But I finally came to the realization that you're still here. You didn't die and I still have you here with me. It could have been much worse and now that we have this second chance I'm not wasting it."
"I know before all of this, me being against the club was tearing us apart," Donna shook her head. "The pressure I was putting on you to leave it and change who you are. That wasn't fair and now I see that the club is family. They were there for you when I got hurt."
"They were there for you too, they're still there for you," Opie reminded.
"I know," Donna nodded. "Which is why, I'm not asking you to leave. If I want to be with you, I know that the club is a part of it too because it's a part of you. So if I love you then have to love the club as well."
"So you're accepting the club?"
Donna nodded. "Yeah, but I'm not going to turn the cheek to the cheating. It doesn't matter if you're on a run, because if you do it, I'll castrate you myself Harry."
"I've never been with anyone but you Donna," Opie answered pulling her in closer. "So that isn't going to be an issue. I just want to make sure we're okay."
"We're better than okay Ope. We're perfect in our own way."
There's the next chapter and thanking you for reading and commenting. I love reading your reactions to the chapter as well as your theories/suggestions. So keep them coming lol.
We got some Donna and Opie fluff going on at the end lol.
Along with a little bit of sibling teasing.
So who's the daddy? Jax or Hale?
Is it one baby or two?
Let me know what you think, next chapter should be up in a bit.
