This chapter is pretty short. I had a tough time getting it onto the page so if it's not that great I apologize. Just warning you.
It'd been three days, since Half Sack's funeral and they still didn't have any new leads. At least not any that she knew of. The club was working hard on deciphering where Cameron could have gone but they hadn't had any concrete evidence show up.
Which frustrated Carrie because all she wanted to do was find Abel and bring him home. Carrie sighed in frustration before pinching the bridge of her nose.
"What's wrong with you?"
Carrie took a deep breath before looking at Mackenzie. "Everything. Better question would be what isn't wrong?"
"Anything new on Abel?"
Carrie shook her head before looking up from the chart. "Not that I know of, the guys are still looking. Trying to find some type of lead, so far all they've gotten is dead ends."
Mackenzie nodded. "They'll find him. How are you and Jax doing?"
Carrie sighed. "I try to be there for him when I can," she shrugged before shaking her head. "Thinking about the baby seems to calm him. As for me and him, there's a lot of shit we have to talk about. But I'm not looking for a relationship right now."
"You sure about that? You wouldn't go back to him?"
"I went back to him once," Carrie shook her head. "Well twice, if you count the the time he was ghosting me. Me having his baby isn't a good reason to go back to him. People co parent all the time."
"That's true, they do but are you going to be able to just co parent with him?" Mackenzie leaned forward. "Look, I know he was an asshole, he lied and cheated. Which is inexcusable but I also know you're in love with him."
"That makes things a little trickier, but if you want to be with him and he if he wants to be with you," Mackenzie shrugged, leaning back into her chair. "Then you two figure out a way to work it out. But if you decide to go that route, make him work for it. He needs to know that he can't just look at you with his pretty blue eyes and make you fall for his shit."
"I 'm thinking about taking some time off," Carrie quietly admitted, choosing not to dwell on Mackenzie's advice on Jax, at least not yet.
"Like a vacation? What are we talking about like a week, maybe two?"
Carrie shook her head, looking away. "Indefinitely."
Mackenzie looked at her in surprise. "You mean like quit working here? I thought you loved being a nurse?"
"Yeah, and I do but I can't completely focus on work when my mind is all over the place," Carrie explained. "I'm constantly thinking about how to bring Abel home or how to deal with Jax. Not to mention, making sure that I take care of myself and the baby. It's all becoming too much."
"So you're choosing to leave your job? What are you going to do for income?"
"I'll help out at the garage," Carrie shrugged. "Donna's over there some days to help Piney out, since Gemma isn't here. I figured I could go on the days she wasn't able to."
"You've given it a lot of thought," Mackenzie leaned forward. "So I'm assuming you're not just thinking about it. You've already decided."
Carrie nodded. "I haven't given my notice yet. But I will before I leave tonight."
"Jimmy wants to talk to you."
Jax took the phone from Clay and walked a couple of feet away. "Tell me you have my son."
"I'm sorry but I don't. Real army boys picked up Cammy at Central Station. He didn't have a baby with him."
"They had to grill him before they tied off his neck," Jax said in frustration at not getting the answer that he had wanted. Losing his patience when Jimmy disagreed. "Where the hell is my kid!"
"I understand your rage Jax, if it were my son that had gone missing-"
Jax cut Jimmy off not wanting to hear his opinions. "But it's not! It's my kid that's missing."
"Abel wasn't with Cameron in Belfast," Jimmy sighed. "So that means that he's still in Vancouver."
Jax clenched his jaw. "Everything you've said about my kid has been wrong," Jax said through gritted teeth before shaking his head. "I'm not going to trust this bullshit you're spewing now."
"Well. maybe you'll believe one of your brothers."
Jax heard silence on the phone before someone else talked.
"Jax, it's Liam O'Neil."
Jax furrowed his brows. "What are you doing with Jimmy?" He questioned, the VP for the Belfast charter.
"His crew is tied up in Newry. They hired us to watch his back while he's up here. I was with Jimmy when they picked Cammy up outside the depot. I can assure you that he didn't have a baby with him."
Jax shook his head. "I should come up there. Maybe talk to the guys who rounded him up , make sure that Cameron didn't mention a contact or a place he took him."
"That's never going to happen. You know how it goes, we're just hired guns. We're not in the inner circle, never had been and we most likely never will be."
Jax gripped the phone, not content with the way the conversation had gone. But he didn't have any other choice but to agree before the line went dead. Jax took a deep breath before throwing the phone back at Clay in passing.
"He said that Abel wasn't in Belfast," He said sighing, trying to contain his anger. "Cameron didn't take Abel with him." But he couldn't, shaking his head he turned to the van and punched it. The anger running through him blocked the pain of his hits when they dented the exterior of it.
Jax was sitting down on the picnic table, cooling off from his conversation earlier. The guys giving him his space to clear his mind.
"Hands look like mine feel." Clay stated as he and the club approached him. "How are we going to do this?"
"We stick with plan A." Jax looked up as he lit his cigarette. "You guys drop off the guns. Me and Clay pick up mom. We all head north to find my kid."
Opie reached into his back pocket taking an envelope out. Before holding it out to him. "Here's ten grand for Serge's tracker.
Jax stuck his cigarette into his mouth, before grabbing the envelope and looking inside to see the cash. Looking up at his best friend in disbelief.
"Sold the pan head." Opie shrugged. "Figured this was my way of helping to set the ball rolling on finding Abel."
"Thanks bro." Jax stood up and hugged Opie.
Clay nodded in approval. Before looking around. "We ready to do this?"
"Absolutely." Chibs answered as the club answered in agreement.
"I'll wire that to Serge's guy in Vancouver." Bobby pointed to the envelope before Jax handed it over.
Jax took a seat while the rest of the guys dispersed to get ready for the following day.
Opie sat down next to him. "How are you and Tara? How you two doing with everything?"
Jax sighed, remaining silent for a couple of minutes as he gathered his thoughts. "She thinks I blame her for Abel getting taken away." Jax finally answered." I told her that it wasn't but that she needed to leave and we had to end she didn't listen since she's up there with Gemma."
"Do you blame her?"
"A part of me does. But the rational side of me knows it's not her fault." Jax answered honestly before taking another drag of his cigarette. "She also thinks I'm tryin to end things because of Carrie and the baby."
Opie nodded in understanding, "Are you trying to end things with Tara because of Carrie?"
"I don't know man. Part of me is trying to end things because I see how Tara doesn't accept this part of me. The other part of me says to end things because I regret not taking a chance on Carrie." Jax explained.
"So what, you end things with Tara and try it out with Carrie? Listen man, that's my sister and you have to know that even though you're my best friend. I would still kick your ass for hurting her again. So unless you're completely sure that she's the one you want and not just because of the baby. Or because of the issues going on with you and Tara. Don't string her along."
"I wouldn't hurt her man and just because she's carrying my kid," Jax paused and looked at Opie before putting his cigarette out. "Doesn't mean that's the reason I want to be with her. Neither are the issues between me and Tara."
"You sure about that?" Opie questioned before clapping him on the shoulder. Leaving him to his own thoughts.
"Where is he?" Carrie questioned, leaning against the wall outside of the hospital, while she was on her lunch break. Looking around making sure no one was around. "Have you told her yet? About Abel?"
"Vancouver and not yet."
"You have to tell her. If she finds out from anyone else, she's going to be pissed that no one told her." Carrie said, pinching the bridge of her nose. "So you guys are heading up north and taking her with you?"
"I know and I will," Jax sighed. "Yeah, figure it's our best bet with her on the run. At least for now."
"When are you guys heading out?"
"We just gotta help her finish up some things at my grandparents. I gotta tell her about Abel and then we'll probably make the trip."
Carrie sighed. "Have a safe trip. Call me before you guys head out, if you can, and keep me posted on what's going on."
"Will do Lyn. Keep me posted on our little bit, not sure if I'll be back in time for your next appointment. Depends on how fast we can find Abel," Jax said. Not mentioning the fact that they were supposed to go back into jail because of their bail being revoked. He didn't want to add to her worry."
Carrie, nodded. Even though he couldn't see her. "I will, be safe."
"Alway am babe."
Short chapter. Not that much going on.
I was having some trouble getting this one written so I apologize if it's not that great. The next chapters will hopefully be better.
Next chapter is parallel to when they find out Abel is in Belfast. I have it written but i might add or change not 100% sold on it yet.
So if there's any suggestions that you have on what you want to see. Let me know it may spark some good writing to happen lol.
