Carrie had been on her way to see Gemma when she spotted Piney and Juice.
"What the hell happened to him?" She questioned.
"Fight." Juice winced in pain.
Carrie sighed, shaking her head."Come on. I'll clean you up."
Piney shook his head. "You don't have to sweetheart."
"It's been a slow day. Come on," She stated, motioning for them to follow her. Once she had gotten them into an empty room, she asked Juice to sit on the exam table. While she gathered the supplies she would need.
"They really did a number on you didn't they?" Carrie set the supplies down next to him.
Juice nodded before wincing. "Yeah."
Carrie looked up at him before starting to clean the cuts on his face. She apologized as Juice flinched but when he kept flinching she just told him to suck it up. Which caused Piney to laugh and Juice to pout.
"There. You're good to go." She said, before cleaning up.
Juice nodded and gave her a small grin. "Thanks Carrie. I owe you one."
"You're welcome and no more fights alright," she jokingly warned pointing at him. Knowing that it wasn't going to happen. These men attracted trouble wherever they went and they weren't one to resist getting into alterations if provoked.
Carrie walked behind them before stopping Piney. "What was that really about?"
"Deal gone wrong. Club needs the money to find Abel." Piney answered, before leaving her to watch him walk away.
"Well if it isn't my favorite nurse." Stahl greeted walking out of the double doors leading to the secure corridor of the hospital.
"If it isn't my least favorite ATF agent." Carrie retorted.
Stahl smirked. "Feisty, I like that," she said motioning from her to the set of door. "I guess Gemma is grooming you. I'm guessing you're here to see to see her."
"That it concerns you, but I was just stopping by to check on her," Carrie admitted before stepping closer to her. "How do you sleep at night, knowing you framed an innocent woman?"
Stahl looked around. "Maybe of this crime. But let's face it, Gemma's not really innocent," she said leaning back before giving her a sly grin. "And to answer your question, I sleep like a baby. Thanks for asking."
Carrie glared, as Stahl turned and walked away. Leaving her to stare at her and if looks could kill, Stahl would have been six feet under a long time ago.
Carrie was just going to walk through the doors when she was paged. Sighing before turning around to make it back onto her floor.
Even though it was her last day at work, the day seemed to be dragging on and she knew the days off, would help to de-stress a little bit but it wouldn't change her mind. For the foreseeable future she was done working at.
"What are you doing here?"
Jax smirked. "Now that you're forced to drive your own car and not one of those big black shiny sedans," Jax nonchalantly shrugged. "It wasn't that hard to figure out.
"Juice hacking into DMV records now," Stahl said looking atJax. Before the door was yanked open, forcing her to step aside.
"What is he doing here? He's not supposed to be here? How'd he even find out where you live?"
"Go back inside, I'm handling this," Stahl ordered the woman.
"Bringing your work home with you huh?" Jax questioned as he lit a cigarette. Remembering that the other blonde woman had been with Stahl earlier at the hospital.
"I never seem to learn." Stahl shook her head, declining his offer for a smoke. "You got five minutes."
"Your careers taken a huge hit. Booted off the Irish. Stripped of your team. We both know they're going to transfer you to some left for dead field office." Jax said getting straight to the point.
Stahl looked at him annoyed. "This is what you came to tell me?"
Jax shook his head. "No, I came to offer you a deal. Not only can I give you your career back. I can make you an ATF legend."
"Yo can be the agent who single handedly broke the real IRA NorCal terrorist threat. I'll hand over Jimmy O'Phelan. Give you the names of his contacts and my sworn statement. Everything you need to know about the gun running." Jax informed Stahl, before taking a drag of his cigarette.
"And what do you want?"
Jax shrugged. You should know the answer to that. I want my son, my mother and my club."
"How am I supposed to deliver those things?"
"No witness from Zobelle's church party is going to testify. I know that and you know that." Jax informed Stahl. "That gets rid of the assault charges but it leaves the federal automatic weapons charges."
Stahl shook her head. "With all the priors that you guys have, the U.S attorney will never drop them."
Jax nodded in agreement, knowing it was true, before shrugging. "We just want them reduced. Short term. The MC's got a bail hearing tomorrow, you need to slow that down. We need a couple of weeks."
"So you can get to Belfast? For Jimmy and I'm guessing that's where Abel is. Even if I can push the bail hearing, you guys can't leave the country." Stahl pointed out.
"I know but that's my problem." Jax stated. "We just can't have the fugitive heat."
Stahl crossed her arms, turning to look at him. "And your mother?"
Jax pointed at her, stepping closer. "Your lie set this whole shit in motion. I don't care what you have to do. Recant your statement, tell some new lies, find a scapegoat. I don't give a fuck, just set that truth straight."
"Immunity is a complicated-"
"Immunity is bullshit, too many strings and you know it," Jax said cutting her off. "I want a statement signed by you clearing her of both kills."
"And I'm supposed to just trust you huh?" Stahl looked at him in disbelief. "Just take your word on this deal of a lifetime, from the guy who wants me dead."
"Hey, if my club finds out, I am dead. My risk is just as great."
"What makes you think that I would actually believe that the prince would turn rat?"
Jax finished off his cigarette, throwing it onto the floor before stepping on it. "Follow me."
Jax opened the back doors of the van. "We have a deal?"
"I'm going to need to draw something up." Stahl looked up from Jimmy's second in command, who was tied up and gagged.
"No. this is a simple trade." Jax shook his head before looking at her. "I deliver Jimmy and my sworn statement. You sign off on the club's gun charges and my mom."
Stahl looked at him suspiciously not believing that it was really that simple. Trying to decipher what game he was playing.
"Hey. I'm the one that's got to deliver." Jax stated seeing her having her doubts. "You've got nothing to lose. It's you and me that are in this together. We're all we've got June."
Stahl finally nodded in agreement and Jax slammed the doors to the van, before turning back to face her. "Make sure he doesn't talk to any lawyers or gets to make any phone calls. Otherwise this deal goes down and we're both fucked."
The next day Carrie stopped by T-M. At first she thought no one was around, but she knew they had to be in the clubhouse because their bikes were all there.
What she didn't expect was for Tig and some blonde to be going at it in the middle of the clubhouse. Instead of stopping the fight all the guys were cheering and egging them on.
She even noticed Opie eating what looked like cashews out of a small bowl. The guys were too engrossed in the fight to even notice her presence.
They all look like little kids on Christmas morning, Carrie thought as she shook her head. This is what I'm going to have to deal with now.
Her eyes widened when she saw Tig bite the guy's hand, before spitting blood out as the blonde moved across the room. Before running at him again. That was when she caught Jax's eye.
Jax immediately stopped smiling and motioned for her to follow him. Carrie glanced at the fight before she quickly crossed the room and followed him down the hallway. She was fully aware that the rest of the club had seen her follow Jax, since the cheering had stoped for a few seconds before picking up again.
As soon as she had stepped inside his room, Carrie reached into her bag pulling out an envelope and holding it out for him to take. "Here."
Jax furrowed his brow, closing the door. "What's this?"
Carrie sighed, still holding out the envelope before giving it a little shake. "Take it and find out."
Jax slowly took the envelope before looking inside. Quickly looking up at her in disbelief.
"There's five grand in there," Carrie explained as he looked between her and the money. "I would have gotten more but that was all I could get for now."
Jax shook his head, still in disbelief. "How? Why?"
"I thought it could help you find Abel." Carrie softly answered, while ignoring the how in his previous question.
Jax shook his head. Before handing her the envelope back. "I can't take this."
"Keep it, stash it. I don't care but if you need it to find Abel then use it," Carrie said pushing his hand back, not taking it.
"We have everything settled." Jax tired to hand her the money again but she wouldn't take it.
"Bullshit. I know the club is running low on cash."
Jax sighed knowing that they needed the money but not wanting to take it from her. Especially since he knew she was going to need it for the baby."I know you want to help and I appreciate it but I can't take it from you. Not when you're going to need it."
"I'm still going to be working Jax and I still have some money in my savings account," Carrie said before speaking softly. "If this is the only way for me to help find Abel then please take it."
"Thanks." Jax reluctantly put the envelope in his back pocket.
Carrie gave him a grin. "You're welcome."
"Heard you quit working at St. Thomas."
Carrie sighed. "I'm guessing Opie or Piney told you. Maybe even Donna."
"They look out for you. Is this really what you want? To quit working at the hospital?"
Carrie nodded. "Yeah, at least for now. I want to help out here and then maybe one day I'll go back or I'll work at another hospital," she said, shrugging.
"Wait, you're coming to work at T-M?"
Carrie nodded. "Yeah, they didn't tell you?"
"They just said you quit and had another job in town."
"Well, surprise." Carrie shook her her head, before sighing. "Donna said it was fine and I ran it by Piney before. But I guess I should have ran it by you."
Jax shook his, before giving her a smile. "It's fine, it just caught me off guard."
"Thanks Jax. I should get going and help out in the office." Carrie could feel the awkward tension start to build, before side stepping him to get to the door.
"Do you think our baby is a boy or a girl?" Jax blurted out the question, causing Carrie to drop her hand from the door knob.
"We'll know in a few weeks," Carrie softly answered. "But I think it might be a girl, it'll be interesting to see you raising one."
"Raising a daughter wouldn't be that hard."
Carrie tilted her head to the side. "Why do you say that?"
"Because I'll be doing it with you,"Jax softly answered.
Carrie didn't know what to say. So she softly gave him a small smile before leaving.
"I need a favor from you."
"What is it?" Tara said closing the door behind them, stepping into the pediatric waiting room.
"The club recently came into possession of HIV scripts. I was wanted to know if you knew of any clinic that might be in need of them."
"Shit, Jax," Tara muttered, staring at him in disbelief. Shaking her head she sighed as she moved around him, sitting down in one of the chairs.
"Look, I just need a name," Jax said looking at her. "This won't blow back on you. You'll have nothing to do with it."
Tara shook her head before looking up at him. "I think I know where to take it."
Jax shook his head. "No, I just need the name. You're not taking it, you're not getting involved in this."
"Jax, they're medical professionals," Tara argued, shaking her head before she scoffed. "They're not going to buy prescriptions drugs from a biker. If you want to sell those drugs, I'm your best bet. I know the money is to get you and the club to Belfast. Let me help."
"What is this?"
"That's what happened that day at the warehouse," Jax pointed out to the written statement in Gemma's hands. "That's what you're going to say point for point."
"This is Stahl isn't it? What did you do?" Gemma turned to look at him in disbelief. "Do not get in bed with this bitch."
"I'm doing what I have to in order to protect my club and my family."
"She's going to get you killed," Gemma argued.
"Right now, you're not my mother," Jax explained before leaning onto the rail of the hospital bed. "Right now, you're just a club member's old lady and this is what I need you to say word for word. Don't worry about me but this has to be our secret. No one can know."
"If the club finds out-"
"They won't but you gotta do this for me and you have to keep quiet about it. It's the only way it will work," Jax said cutting her off, knowing she was worried about him.
"Is it always this slow?"
Donna shook her head. "It's usually busier but with the drive by which resulted in the death of the little boy. People are being being more wary and steering clear of SAMCRO."
Carrie nodded before glancing at the door, before doing a double take. "What the hell is going on?"
"Oh shit," Donna muttered just as the SANWA sheriffs busted into the clubhouse followed by some of the Charming PD officers while others walked towards the garage to clear it out.
"Ladies put your hands up where I can see them," one of the officers said before motioning them to walk out the door. "Now I need you, to slowly walk out of the office."
Donna and Carrie glanced at each other as they followed his directions. Both silently wondering what the club got into now.
"You alright?"
Carrie nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"What the hell is this about Opie?"
Jax and Carrie both turned to look at Donna and Opie. Carrie was wondering the same thing only Donna had beat her to voicing the question.
"I don't know," Opie answered before looking at Jax. But they didn't have to wait long to find out as the sheriffs called out that the garage and clubhouse were clear of illegal pharmaceuticals.
"Sheriffs raided the clubhouse looking for illegal scripts," Jax stated as soon as Tara sat down in the secluded waiting room.
"Oh my God." Tara said staring at him wide eyed. "How did they know?"
Jax scoffed, shaking his head. "You tell me."
"What the hell does that mean?" Tara defensively questioned.
"You told me we could trust that doctor."
"He wouldn't say anything." Tara defended.
"Well, someone did," Jax argued, leaning forward. "If I get caught, I can do the years, but you, narc raps are real time. Your medical career would be over. Do you get that?"
"You asked me for help, this isn't my fault."
"I know it's 's mine this is on me," Jax said staying quiet for a couple seconds, looking at the floor before looking up at her. "I'm done."
Standing up he briefly kissed her one last time before walking away. He just wondered if she would actually believe him that he meant it this time because he wasn't going back on his decision.
"You're still here?"
Carrie looked over her shoulder at Jax, before continuing to file invoices. "Yeah, well, if you guys bothered to organize things, instead of leaving them laying around," she said shrugging. "I wouldn't be here this late."
"First day on the job and you're already chewing me out for something," Jax said, chuckling as he stepped into the office.
"Yeah, well, I'm sure you won't be the only one." Carrie finished filing one pile of invoices. Before turning to grab another but Jax intercepted her.
"Why don't you take a break, go home and get some rest. These will be here tomorrow."
"Yeah but I've been having some trouble sleeping. I can't sleep unless I'm exhausted," Carrie sighed before stepping around him to grab her bag.
Jax sighed before taking her hand. "Come on."
"Where are we going?"
Jax looked over his shoulder. "Just follow me."
"I'm not going to have sex with you." Carrie pointed out before trying to pull her hand away as he came to a stop outside his room.
Jax looked back at her, keeping a hold of her hand, before opening the door. "I didn't bring you here for that."
"Then what am I doing here?" Carrie crossed her arms, as she watched Jax close the door behind him.
"I thought I would return the favor," Jax said before opening his drawers, pulling out a t-shirt and handing it to her. "It's clean and it'll be more comfortable than sleeping in your clothes."
Carrie cautiously took it. "Do you have some sweats or shorts I can borrow?"
Jax turned and grabbed a pair of shorts, handing them to her, watching as she slowly put her bag down on the desk before going into the bathroom. in the meantime he, himself got comfortable, disarming himself and changing into a pair of sweats.
He had just settled against the headboard when Carrie came out of the bathroom, dressed in the clothes he'd let her borrow, her hair up in a bun. Stopping to place her clothes on top of her bag before cautiously making her way to the bed. "Make yourself comfortable," he motioned towards the bed, when she stood looking at him.
"I meant what I said, I'm not having sex with you," Carrie reminded him as she sat down next to him, leaving space between them.
"I'm not asking you for it. So what's been keeping you from sleeping?"
"I'm overthinking everything, my mind doesn't stop running unless I'm exhausted," Carrie answered. "I went to see your mom yesterday after work. She told me Abel's in Belfast."
"Yeah, we're heading over there tomorrow."
Carrie turned to look at Jax. "What happened with the bail hearing? How are you getting there if you can't live the state let out the country?"
"Bail hearing has been pushed back ten days," Jax answered before shrugging. "Oswald's going to help us get over to there. The rest is up to us."
Carrie bit her lip, looking away from him. "I'm coming with you," she said turning back to him, seeing him shake his head.
"No, you're staying here. Where you and little bit will be safe. I don't what we're walking into and I'm not going to risk something happening to either one of you."
Carrie sat up on her knees. "I can handle it, I'm not completely defenseless you know."
"It doesn't matter because you're not going," Jax stated, staring her down.
Carrie huffed, sitting back down, while crossing her arms. Which caused Jax to try not to laugh at her as she pouted. "You're cute when you're angry."
Carrie rolled her eyes staring ahead, not bothering to reply. Jax sighed before pulling her close, feeling her fight him on it but he didn't let her go. "Just relax and try to get some sleep," he said massaging the back of her neck, feeling her slowly relax before her breathing evened.
Jax looked down at her, before slowly moving them into a more comfortable position. Freezing as she moved before she relaxed into him. He stared up at the ceiling with his arms wrapped around her. His thoughts running rampant around in his head but he knew he'd have his son in his arms soon and then he'd make things right with Carrie, so the four of them could be a family.
So there we go. I hope this chapter makes up for the last two lol.
Let me know your theories/suggestions in the comments below. I hope you guys enjoyed it.
Is Carrie going to listen to Jax? Should she listen and stay or should she go to Belfast?
