Summary: The first time Chrome heard Hibari sing was when he sang the Nami-chu anthem and she thinks it's the most beautiful song she's ever heard. 1896

The first time she ever heard Hibari sing was on the rooftop. Chrome and Hibari often had lunch together being one of the very few people Hibari can tolerate. She was a little late at arriving at the rooftop that day. With three melon pans in hand – one for her, Hibari and Hibird – she made her way up the stairs to the rooftop.

"… your tone is a little off." She heard Hibari say. Chrome tilted her head in confusion. Who was he talking to?

"Hibari, Hibari. Repeat. Repeat." Hibari sighed in response. Ah, Hibird. Chrome smiled. It was always cute seeing the infamous Hibari Kyoya talk and be kind to little animals. She stepped out into the wide, open space.

Just as she found them, Hibari opened his mouth to sing.

The green that trails Namimori
Not large not small, Nami is best...

Chrome froze in her spot. She had never heard Hibari sing before and she didn't think that he would have such a deep, and rich singing voice. It seemed like he had been singing for a long time too. He sang with controlled vibrato and careful stylistic phrasing of each line. Chrome found herself tearing up.

"Nagi?" called Hibari's voice.

Chrome raised her head only to see Hibari looming over her with a gentle hand on her cheek to wipe away the tears forming at the corner of her one eye. Hibird sat in his usual perch on top of his head with a worried expression on his face.

The illusionist smiled and leaned against his hand. "That was really beautiful, Hibari-san. The song."

If she didn't know Hibari any better, then she would have missed the shocked expression on Hibari's unchanging demeanor. She frowned. That can't be the first time he's been told that. Especially when he sounds that amazing!

"You think it's beautiful?" He asked.

"Yes. Ah-"

Hibari took her wrist and pulled her into a tight hug. She accidentally dropped their lunch, but she didn't mind.

"Hibari-san?"

The prefect didn't respond. He kept his embrace over the girl and let her scent invade his senses. Finally, someone aside from the Disciplinary Committee loved the Namimori Middle School anthem. He pulled back and patted her head lovingly.

Chrome looked up with her beady eye in confusion but Hibari simply sat back down with his share of the melon pan in hand. "I'll sing it to you whenever you want." He said simply.

Chrome's face lit up as she sat beside him. As usual, they ate their lunch in comfortable silence.

The second time she heard him sing, she was at Kokuyo Land. It was the middle of the night, but she couldn't sleep. Chrome had been tossing and turning for the past two hours with no hopes of slipping away into dreamland. She sighed as she pulled out her phone. Her thumb hovered over the call button as the selection read: "Hibari-san."

Should she call him? He probably would be mad if she woke him up at the ungodly hour. But… She wanted to hear his voice.

She pressed the button. The phone didn't even ring a second time before he picked up. Chrome could hear Hibari breathing through the phone as he waited for her response.

"Um… I-I couldn't sleep." She said simply.

"…"

"… S-sorry! I-I should hav-"

"The green that trails Namimori
Not large not small, Nami is best …"

Chrome blushed at hearing his singing – albeit almost as a whisper – voice once more. Was he singing it to her as a lullaby? She smiled and listened intently until he finished.

"… T-Thank you, Hibari-san. I t-think I should be able to sleep now."

"Hn."

"G-Good night!"

"Good night Nagi."

Chrome slept soundly that night and they did that every night ever since.

The first time Hibari ever heard Chrome sing was in the reception room while she was waiting for his meeting to finish. With an inaudible tired sigh, he reached for the doorknob to his office but not before hearing Chrome speak to Hibird.

"Will you listen to me?"

"Listen. Listen!" Tweeted the little fluff ball happily.

Chrome breathed in."The green that trails Namimori
Not large not small, Nami is best …"

Hibari's eyes widened. He knew that Chrome's voice was soft and sweet, but he didn't think it ever sounded as sweet as it did at that moment. She was a little off in a few places but it made the song all the more precious.

Once she finished, Hibari slammed the door open. He dropped the files he was carrying and briskly walked over to Chrome who smiled upon his return.

"Hiba-"

Hibari placed a hand over the nape of her neck and pulled her to him in a rough kiss. After what seemed like an eternity, they pulled back for breath with their foreheads still touching.

"H-Hibari-san?" She panted.

"You will sing that to me and to me alone." After a timid nod from the girl, he continued to kiss her senseless.
