Note: Now that the IchiRuki: The Destined Tale (my other IchiRuki AU fanfiction) is already done, (the final chapter is already finished but I haven't posted it yet here) I took the liberty to go back to this fanfiction. I will continue the updates of this but I can't promise you guys that it will be updated regularly. Even if it is vacation, I can't make sure that I will be able to do this okay? I hope you understand. I scanned the manuscript of this story again and I can tell that this will be a long fanfiction. (sighs) The Manuscript has 31 chapters all in all but I think I can compress it to 29 or 30 chapters.
Okay, now, let's start, shall we?

Last time in You Are My Love…
Following the events of Toushirou's birthday party, Rukia realized her deep feelings of romance for her friend and coworker in the coffee shop, Kurosaki Ichigo. But, unknown to the raven haired girl, Ichigo was also getting confused with his feelings for her. To prove this, he had disappeared to think and when he returned, he was faced by Orihime and kissed him only to be seen by Rukia. Hurting so much, Rukia ran and Ichigo followed after her only to tell her that she was the one he fell in love with. They ended up together under the skies full of snow that Christmas.
Chapter 12
Love at first sight?
He didn't know that this was coming. He shook his head.
Why was he doing here again?
He received a call from his red haired best friend telling him that he needed company or something.
For what?
His younger sister was coming in Japan.
But, why would he need to be there? He didn't know Renji's younger sister. He didn't even know he had a sister until now. It was a surprise to him since they were best friends for like 5 years.
Well, Renji was a mystery.
Or was just plain secretive.
Okay, back to the present.
He was in his seat on the waiting shed of the airport. It had been five hours since they arrived and the plane with his sister's flight was still probably flying above the clouds.
Seriously, Renji was paranoid.
He could understand though. He, himself, had two beautiful young sisters whom he wanted to protect and of course, he would be worried if she said that they will arrive two hours ago, and she wasn't still there.
But of course, his friend's behavior was testing his patience.
He continued to stare at his best friend who was asking the receptionist, again, on when his sister's plane going to land in this airport.
And he could see the receptionist's reaction and answer, again, on his question. Still he had to give it to the receptionist. She seemed to have a very, as in veeeeeeeery long patience to continually answer Renji's inquiries with calm voice and expressions. She deserved a thousand applauses for that.
Abarai Renji went back to him and sat down next to him. "Finally!" He had exclaimed with a loud sigh.
The red haired boy turned to him confused with his exclamation. "What finally?" he asked with his thick raised eyebrow.
The black haired Kuchiki snorted. "Finally, you sat down! After a long three hours since you stood up, you never sit back down." he replied with a bitter expression on his face. "You almost made me lose my patience."
"Ooookay?" Renji said uncertain. "I'm sorry about that, Kaien. I'm just worried about her you know?"
"I know I know." Kaien said. "I have younger sisters too." he said. "But, you should calm down and not ask that receptionist for how-many-times in the span of three hours."
Renji nodded in understanding. "Hai, hai."
Silence overcame them until it was broken by the Kuchiki heir. "Hey, Renji, is your sister alone?"
"Yes, she is." Renji replied. "That's why I'm worried. This is the first time she traveled alone, especially in planes."
"Why? Is she afraid of high places or something?"
"No, it's just that…" he stopped and seemed to be in deep thought. Kaien raised an eyebrow.
"Renji?"
"Oh no." He looked at him and smiled. "You'll know when you see her."
"Okay."
Suddenly, the intercom spoke and Kaien almost sighed when he saw his best friend stood up on his feet and dragged him with a stupid smile on his face.
"Her flight is finally here. Come on!"
"Don't drag me, geez!"
They came on the platform where the passengers came out and Renji waved wildly as he called out his sister's name.
"Senna! Over here!"
Kaien saw a girl with purple hair. She came towards them and his best friend gave her a huge embrace. But, he couldn't care less about that. He couldn't stop himself staring at the girl. Her beauty was mesmerizing. Donning in a simple brown collared shirt and jeans short that showed her legs and brown flat boots that reached her knees, she looked at him with eyes brightly shining in curiosity.
"Oh, Senna, this is my best friend, Kaien." Renji introduced him but he was still staring at her. "The one I'm talking about."
The girl smiled with a slight bow, but Kaien offered his right hand for a handshake. "I'm Kuchiki Kaien, nice meeting you, Senna."
Abarai Senna gripped his hand in a firm handshake. He couldn't help but realize that her hands were so soft against his rough ones.
Senna removed her hands and bowed to him again and smiled brightly. Kaien saw her turned to her brother who asked her of how she was and how was the travel. She didn't say anything but the thumbs-up formed in her hand. Renji smiled and nodded. "That's good."
Kaien scrunched his forehead in confusion. Why didn't she say anything? Was there something wrong?
"Um… Renji?"
"Yes, Kaien?"
"Pardon me asking… why isn't she saying anything?"
The siblings exchanged glances and the sister smiled at him as Renji nodded. The red haired turned to him.
"You see, Kaien, Senna here is…mute."
Kaien didn't think he heard that right. "Mute?"
"Yeah, she can't talk because there is something wrong with her vocal cords. She had been like that since she was born."
Kaien looked at her and she just nodded with a smile. "I see, sorry for asking."
"No, it's okay." Renji shook his head. "It doesn't bother her that much."
"Really?"
The girl nodded and shrugged her shoulders.
"Then, okay."
"So, Senna, are you tired or hungry?" Renji asked. Senna touched her stomach and he already knew the answer.
"Ooookay. I'm hungry too." he said and looked at Kaien. "Do you think we can go to the coffee shop now and eat there?"
"Sure. It's not that far from here." Kaien replied.
"Then I can see Rukia." Renji spoke with a smile as he ushered his sister to follow. Kaien shook his head as he followed behind them. He knew how much Renji like his sister but Rukia already loved a certain someone. He wanted to tell him that but he couldn't. He knew Rukia didn't want anyone messing with her… affairs. She could handle it when it came.
But for now, he had his eye on a certain purple haired Abarai.
Ichigo stretched his arms over his head as he sat at the counter. He had been staring at Rukia who was playing a wonderful melody with the piano on the stage. The solemn tune from the piano made the customers of the coffee shop smile and cheer as they talked about various things with their companions as they drink their coffee. He couldn't help but smile at their shop's accomplishments.
The sound of the piano stopped and the customers applause. Rukia stood up from the seat and bowed with a smile on her face. She walked towards him and sat next to him.
"Great as always." He complimented as he ruffled her hair affectionately.
"Ichigo," Rukia grabbed his hand from her head. "Stop that! You're destroying my hair!" she complained and Ichigo stopped harassing her hair.
He laughed at her and Rukia pouted. "Sorry, sorry." He spoke as he settled with a smile. "I'm just so proud of you, Rukia."
Her pout changed into a shy smile and a blush adoring her cheeks. Ichigo thought she looked so adorable.
"Baka." She whispered and refused to look at him.
Ichigo snickered at her reaction.
"Look at them." Toushirou told his best friend who was helping him clean a table. "They have been so affectionate with each other since their confession."
Momo nodded without avoiding her stare on what she was doing. "Well yeah." She replied. "That can't be helped. They love each other." She stood up and smiled at the two who continued to talk like before but for those who knew them, the simple gestures that they gave each other meant that they were a couple. And so in love at that.
"I'm really happy that Rukia nee-chan finally found the man who will make her happy." She said with dreamy smile. "I'm so envious."
"Well, why don't you look around you? You might have found him already." The white haired boy said nonchalantly.
Momo raised an eyebrow and stared at him. Toushirou scrunched his forehead. "I…" She shook her head and avoided his gaze. "I don't think so." She walked towards the counter and put down the utensils on the sink. The couple smiled at her and she teased the both of them as Toushirou saw the red faces of his older cousin and his best friend's sister.
The white haired young boy sighed. "I wonder if we will be like that if we become a couple…" he muttered to himself and followed suit towards Momo.
Suddenly, they heard the chime rang signaling a customer coming in the coffee shop. Rukia and Ichigo faced the entrance and greeted in unison.
"Welcome!"
They smiled when they learnt who had just come in. "Nii-chan. Welcome." Rukia repeated and she turned behind him. "Hey, Renji!"
"Yo, Rukia." Renji smiled brightly as Kaien rolled his eyes at his friend. "Hey, Ichigo." Kaien greeted the orange haired as he came behind Rukia.
"Hello, um… Nii-san?" he said uncertain on how to call his girlfriend's brother.
Kaien almost burst out laughing at his awkward remark and Rukia didn't know whether to be touched or embarrassed at Ichigo trying to be a young brother to her brother.
However, Renji seemed to be surprised or even shocked. Why would Ichigo tried to call Kaien, Nii-san? Unless, he and Rukia were…
His eyes widened. Don't tell me… those two…
He suspiciously stared at two young teens in front of them and he didn't fail to notice Ichigo's arm around Rukia's shoulder.
He couldn't just stand there and looked at them anymore. He took his courage to ask them to make sure. He didn't want to jump to conclusions. After all, those two just look like best friends last year, right?
He cleared his throat and the three looked at him. "Oh, Renji, sorry." Rukia said. "Who is your companion? Don't tell me…" she smiled widely. "…your girlfriend."
Kaien waved his hand. "No, Rukia. She's his younger sister."
Senna bowed down at the two with a smile. "She's mute so she doesn't speak."
"I…see." Rukia smiled at her. "Nice to meet you, Senna." Ichigo nodded at her and Senna realized he was also having the pleasure to meet her.
"How old is she, Renji?" Ichigo asked his former classmate and friend. Renji sneered. "Oh, she's 17."
"Like us?" Rukia grabbed Senna's hands. "Great, we're friends now, okay?" she exclaimed and the purple haired girl nodded vigorously with a wide grin.
"Oh, and Rukia, we're hungry. Senna just came from Taiwan and she was hungry." Kaien told his sister.
"I see, then we're going to give you the specialty of the coffee shop."
"Thanks."
"Go find some seats, Nii-chan."
"Yeah, come on Senna." Kaien said as he stared at his best friend who was looking at Ichigo and Rukia. He looked really jealous. He was afraid of what might happen.
"Renji?"
"Kaien, will you please lead Senna to the table? I'm going to talk to Rukia about something." He said and walked over the counter before waiting for his best friend's answer.
Kaien sighed and walked over to Senna. He just wished that Renji wouldn't do something reckless.
He saw Senna looked at him puzzled. He smiled. "Oh, your brother is going to talk to my sister for a while. Let's go ahead."
The girl nodded with a smile.
Meanwhile, at the counter, Toushirou and Momo prepared the order for Kaien's group. Ichigo saw Renji walking towards them at the counter with quite a fearful look on his face. He was wondering why.
"Rukia."
Rukia turned around from what she was doing and faced Renji. "Oh, do you need something?"
"No," he shook his head. "But I want to ask you about something."
"What is it?"
Ichigo stared at him as he talked to Rukia. There was something wrong with him.
"Are you and Ichigo…dating?"
The orange haired teen realized it with that question. Renji was in love with Rukia and he was jealous. Ichigo nodded at him when he saw that the red haired classmate of his was looking at him.
"Rukia, are you?"
"Yes, we… are together now." She replied with a slight blush. It seemed to Ichigo that Rukia didn't know that Renji was somewhat love her. The girl was oblivious and dense. He sighed. And he thought he was the one who was dense.
Renji's mind was in chaos. He didn't know when that happened. He wanted to take off from there. He didn't want to see that girl and the boy who had hurt him and they didn't even know it!
He sighed and turned to walk towards Kaien and his sister.
Ichigo continued to stare at him.
He said something to Kaien and Senna and went out of the coffee shop alone. Ichigo sighed. He knew how much he was hurting. Unrequited Love was something he had experienced with his first love so he understood him. But, no matter how much he felt sorry for him, he wouldn't hand over Rukia to him because he loved her and she loved him too.
He smiled sadly and thought, I'm sorry, Renji.
"Ichigo?" Rukia's voice cut through his thoughts. "Are you okay?"
He shook his head and faced her. "Yeah, I'm okay. Are you done? Senna must be hungry."
"Hn, will you take this to them?"
"Sure."
And Ichigo took it to them. Senna smiled at him for gratefulness and Kaien thanked the young Kurosaki.
The two started to eat their lunch.
They were so quiet as they eat and Senna looked over her bag and rummaged in it. Kaien was looking at her curiously.
Soon, she finally took out what looked like a sketchpad. She smiled at him and wrote something on the said paper. After writing, she turned it around for him to read it.
Kaien was shocked. She was talking to him. And he didn't fail to notice that her handwriting was beautiful. Oh, back to present.
He read the words on the sketchpad.
I wonder why Renji nii-chan left early. I know he's also hungry.
Kaien blinked. "Ah, well, he said that he was needed in your company right?" Senna nodded. "He is the heir so he has to be there."
She scribbled with an answer yet again.
Well, you're right. I'm sure he'll eat once there. He isn't the kind of person who skips lunch to finish work after all.
"Yeah that's true." Kaien replied. He found it amusing. The way they conversed with each other.
Oh, and the food here is great. I want to eat here more.
Kaien smiled. "Sure. I'll take you here whenever you want."
Really? Thank you Kaien nii-chan!
Calling him 'Kaien nii-chan' didn't seem to be appealing. It seemed to be stabbing him on the chest several times.
"Ah, Senna, you can call me by my name. You don't have to call me brother."
She frowned slightly and wrote her reply. But you are my brother's best friend. It's only right to call you that.
Kaien sighed in defeat. "Okay, do what you want to do."
The girl grinned. Thank you, Nii-chan!
"If only I can be only 'Kaien' to you…" he muttered under his breath as they continued eating.
Renji didn't like what he was feeling.
He didn't want to deal with a stupid unrequited love. He didn't want to think about it. He decided to drown himself with work than to think of these stupid things. He didn't want to feel so betrayed and so… so…
Hurt.
It was painful really.
He would let Kaien take care of his sister. He could trust Kaien to do that.
He wanted to be alone and divert his mind from a certain raven haired girl who broke his heart.
As times passed, Senna and Kaien always go out with each other and sometimes, Rukia, Ichigo, Toushirou and Momo came with them to different places. They had loved to be friends with the girl since she was very cute and her smiles were adorable. They toured her around Tokyo and introduced her to things she didn't even saw before, like gaming centers and such.
Seemed like she was always at home in Taiwan so she didn't have no idea what it was like outside. And she was having fun with them much to Kaien's happiness.
Senna also loved the coffee shop and she always went there and watched the performances of the four singers. She would applause so loud and Kaien wondered if she would scream if she ever had her voice. He wanted to hear her voice.
She would always compliment Rukia's made coffee and his sister would be embarrassed by her words.
One day, he took Senna to a specialist doctor in Tokyo Hospital. He wanted to help her and she agreed since they had been planning to make her use her voice again. Renji also gave his approval.
After the test, the doctor told them that there was a chance and if she took an operation in a country with enough facilities, she would be able to speak again. Hearing that, Kaien immediately told Renji about the doctor in New York that he knew. That doctor was a friend of his father. Renji agreed to his plan and talked to his sister about it.
Senna smiled and nodded in agreement but she asked for a few days vacation in Japan before they go to New York. She wanted to savor this vacation because she came to love the country and the people who made her happy. Renji had sighed and didn't say anything. He wanted his sister to be happy so he would do anything to abide her wishes, and it was only for a few days.
His sister had thanked him and grinned brightly at him and he couldn't help but temporarily sealed off the pain in his heart and spend time with his sister. Well, he wouldn't be able to come with her because of the company business and Kaien would be there for her.
He realized that his best friend came to like his sister. He knew Kaien. They were best friends and he could say that he was glad that Kaien was in love with his sister since he would be relieved to leave her in his hands. Kaien had the tendency to protect and take care of the people he loved, so he knew his sister would be in good hands.
