Frisk ran around in the snow, laughing to herself. Papyrus watched Frisk as she played with the other monsters. She giggled as she threw snowballs at the other kids. Every so often, she would trip and fall into the snow and get back up giggling. Papyrus noticed that the human appeared to be playing with another, invisible monster. He knew that she had to have been playing with Buddy too. After a while, Papyrus decided that she did enough.

"Human!" He called. "I think it's time for you to come back in."

All the kids were disappointed at this. Frisk walked to Papyrus. She then turned around and called to the empty space, "Come on, slowpoke!"

She giggled. As she reached Papyrus, she said, "Buddy can be so slow sometimes."

"Human?" Papyrus asked. "Would you mind explaining a little more about Buddy to me?"

Frisk looked up at the empty space and asked, "Is it okay with you if I do that?" After a moment of silence, she smiled. "Okay, great!"

She looked back at Papyrus and smiled. "Buddy is a really cool guy. He tells a lot of stories and acts funny."

"Why does he not like DT?"

"He said that DT was once mean to him. She hurt him sometimes." Frisk stopped as if Buddy said something.

"He has a cool mask with horns that he got by fighting a lot of battles. And he's very skinny."

Frisk then walked past Papyrus and as she did, Papyrus felt a glare burning into his back. He quickly turned around but saw Frisk still facing away from him, walking into the house.

He looked around but saw no one else around him. He quickly followed Frisk in.

"Is his name really Buddy?" He asked.

"He says it's his nickname but he has never told me his real name." Frisk answered.

Sans walked out of the kitchen and up to her. "You said he tells a lot of stories, what are some of the stories about?"

Frisk started to act nervous. "He doesn't want me to tell. He told me not to tell about the stories he tells."

"Why not?"

"He never told me." Frisk muttered.

"Why has he not told you?" Sans asked as he got closer.

"He's scared that I won't trust him if he tells me."

"If he keeps secrets from you, why do you trust him?"

"He said he wants to be my friend." Tears started to run down Frisk's face.

"Why do you want to be his friend?"

"He said he will take me back to my family if I was his friend!" Frisk screamed. She then started crying.

Suddenly, Sans was lifted into the air by an invisible force. He was then thrown into the cabinet. The cabinet shattered into pieces.

"SANS!" Papyrus yelled frantically. He ran to his brother. Frisk immediately ran out the door, into the snow.

"I'm fine!" Sans grunted. "Get the kid!"

DT ran in after hearing the noise. She looked around, confused.

"Go!" Sans yelled as he pointed at the door. Without hesitating, DT ran out the door after Frisk.

She chased Frisk through Snowdin. Somehow, the kid seemed to be faster than her. It was almost as if something was helping her.

DT and Frisk ran through the snow as other monsters watched in confusion.

"Frisk, come back!" She yelled.

"Go away!" She heard Frisk plead.

Frisk started to get a distance from DT until DT lost sight of her.

"Frisk?" She called. "Where did you go?" She faintly heard the sound of crying.

She quickly followed the noise until she found Frisk. The girl was at the foot of the gateway to The Ruins. She was curled up in a fettle position, crying to herself. DT thought she heard Frisk mutter something to herself, but before she could get closer, the door swung open. DT saw a female monster wearing a purple cloak and white fur. Her expression softened. She knew the monster.

"Hello, Queen Toriel." DT said.

"Why hello, Capricorn." Toriel greeted. "It has been a long time, hasn't it? I haven't seen you, or any of the other judges, since the war ended."

"Yeah, sorry. We should have visited once in a while." DT admitted as she rubbed the back of her head.

Toriel looked down and saw Frisk crying. She gasped.

"What happened?" She asked desperately.

DT quickly explained about what happened. She explained about Buddy and his impact on Frisk's actions.

"So this Buddy is supposedly telling Frisk lies and changing the way she sees the world."

"I guess so." DT guessed.

"Maybe we should take her back to where she was before this happened. Then we can get an explanation." Toriel suggested as she picked up the child in her arms.

"Sans, are you sure you're okay?" DT asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Sans assured her. "No need to worry."

"So let me get this straight," Undyne asked as she held up her hands. "Frisk has an imaginary friend that is causing trouble and you don't know what to do with them."

"Undyne, this 'imaginary friend' is making Frisk afraid of different things. DT for one." Toriel explained.

"So?" Undyne grunted. "I'm pretty sure that that is what an imaginary friend does. Changes the way a child thinks until they learn better. Besides, I don't blame her."

"What do you mean?" Papyrus asked.

"I don't really trust DT either." Undyne growled.

"How could you say something like that?!" Sans demanded. "She's a member of the Council of the Soul!"

"Something tells me she's hiding something from us. Like supposedly Buddy is."

DT shifted uncomfortably.

"Undyne!" Toriel gasped.

"How do we know that DT isn't Buddy?! You said she ran in after Sans was thrown to the cabinet and Buddy isn't around when DT is. Do either one of those facts confuse you?"

"Frisk acts afraid of DT." Sans answered. "If DT was Buddy, why would she be telling Frisk to be afraid of her and not adore her?"

"Oh, you're just protecting her because you like her!" Undyne shot back. "Stop acting dumb! She's manipulating you! She's manipulating all of you!" She turned to DT. "Aren't you? Isn't that something you can do? Make people you puppets? Oh yeah, you can also shapeshift too, right? Maybe that's how you're appearing as Buddy!"

"What? No!" DT responded. "I would never do something like that!"

The entire group, except for DT, burst into argument with everyone else trying to convince Undyne that she was wrong and Undyne defending her claim.

DT sighed. She walked out of the house. They did not notice her at all.

She walked out into the snow and sat up against the wall of the house. She sighed and closed her eyes.

...

"May I ask what the hell you're wearing?"

DT screamed in surprise. She sat up and looked at where the voice came from.

She saw a humanoid being being with a bow slung over his back. The being had a yellow outline around him.

"Jus! Dear God, you scared me!" DT panted. Jus simply laughed.

"You're welcome." He responded. "Just thought I would check up on you. Did I wake you up?"

"I was not sleeping!" DT said, defensively. "I just came out here because Undyne was accusing me of being Buddy."

"So you were resisting a-rest?" Jus asked. He made two finger guns at the pun he made.

"You have no idea how much I hate you." DT grumbled.

"I would never dream about it." Jus laughed.

"Keep it up and you're going to be the one sleeping."

"So Sans can say puns but I can't?" Jus asked. "You must like him or something."

DT stopped. Her face became bright red, matching her outline. Jus smiled.

"Oh, you must really like him." Jus suggested. "In fact, you must- mmf!"

Before he could continue, DT put her hand over his mouth.

"Finish that sentence," DT warned. "And I'll tell Kindi about your feelings towards her.

Jus immediately quieted down at that. Satisfied, DT moved her hand.

"So you never really answered my question, what are you wearing?" Jus asked.

DT looked down and saw that she was still in her outfit she changed into.

"Long story." She answered. "My Judge robes got wet and I had to change."

Jus nodded. "So Undyne really thinks you're Buddy?"

"Yeah, she was so adamant about it that I had to leave."

"Why didn't you try to tell her to stop?" Jus asked.

"Because if I did, that would raise more suspicion of me." DT answered.

"The way you say that makes it sound like you are Buddy." Jus teased.

"Shut up." DT muttered. "So what was the real reason you came here?"

"Do you really want to know? Fine." Jus sighed. "I received word that some flower-" He coughed twice "-was causing chaos. I heard he was around this area so I decided to come and pay him a visit. Unfortunately, I haven't found him yet."

"Well, I saw him at Waterfall but..." She began. She stopped as she thought to herself. She didn't want to tell Jus about what happened. "He escaped and disappeared. I'll let you know if I see him again."

From inside, DT and Jus heard the sound of wood being shattered.

"Undyne!" Papyrus yelled. "That costed us money!"

"And I guess that's my cue to leave." Jus stated. "See ya." He then disappeared.

Right as he did, Undyne stormed out of the house. She stopped to turn to DT.

"One day," She grumbled. "Justice is going to pay you a visit."

She then stormed off.

DT was silent for a moment. She then turned to Sans, Papyrus, and Toriel.

"She seems angry." DT commented.

"You think?!" Sans responded.
