Rose

It was the end of August already.

Aly had an amazing fifth birthday back with Sally and Tim. Everyone went, everyone spoilt Aly – my mom and dad were the worst. They bought her everything she asked for – I had to stop them. Dimitri and Aly's relationship blossomed into something beautiful and it made my heart full and flutter. Waking up next to him every morning and then cooking breakfast together – it was everything I could have ever wanted.

Dimitri was working but coming home early, mom and dad had Aly for the evening. Lissa was on the phone with me as I finished packing asking for advice on what she should do, what she should eat as her belly continued to grow with the little Moroi inside. I wasn't going to let her know this, but I envied her so much. Being pregnant is hard but she's surrounded by people that love and look out for her. Yes, I had Sally and Tim but I was doing it all on my own.

I called had called my bosses for my internship and turned it down, explaining that I wanted to focus on Criminal Law – it went better than expected. They referred me to a Criminal Law Firm in Pennsylvania that were still looking for interns and they put me in touch with them. I also changed schools and decided to focus on Criminal Justice. It was kind of stupid getting a human degree for Moroi laws, but Lissa was changing them.

Dhampirs now have more rights than ever – but still not enough. Lissa may be Queen, but she still had eleven families to talk into agreeing with her. She was trying at least. Christian was now renting a place in Court, fixing it up before his Moroi self-defense – defensive magic classes started. That's where Dimitri was now.

Lissa was teaching Adrian how to charm objects so they can start releasing them – hopefully allowing some Strogoi to slowly turn back or at the very least stop being the monsters that they are programmed to be. Lissa has also increased the age for Dhampirs to become guardians, getting favor with Dhampirs and Guardians alike – not some much Royal Moroi.

"You almost done?" I closed the case and put it on the floor next to the door. Dimitri was now sitting on the bed. I walked over, stood in between his legs and put my hand son his cheeks. He snaked his arms around my waist pulling me closer. I bend down and closed my lips over his with a smile, gladly opening my mouth when his tongue asked permission to enter. I moved my hands around his neck and pulled on the ends of his hair. His hands traveled down, pulling my even closer until I fell on top of him. We pulled apart breathing hard.

"A few more days." I leaned my head on my arm, using my other hand to rub my thumb against his cheek. "We won't be going that far." He sighed and rolled on his back.

"I know, I guess I just got used to having you two around so much." I gave him a small smile leaning up on my elbows.

"It's only for another year. I'll have my Bachelor degree and I'll be back." He gave me a smile rolled on top of my with a grin. I lay on my back and looked up at him, putting my hands back on his cheeks. "I promise I'll be back." I whispered.

"I love you." I moved my eyes from his lips to his eyes.

"I love you too."

We lay next to each other for a while, my head lay on his chest listening to his steady heart beat as his chest rose and fell. It was the most peaceful thing in this world. And then I shot up quickly.

"I forgot the dinner!" I scrambled to gt my clothes as I ran from the room and down into the kitchen. I had put the dinner on a low heat waiting for Dimitri to get home, but now it was burnt black. I took it out of the oven, turned the oven off and flapped at the smoking coming from the opened oven door. Dimitri came down the stairs in pants. He laughed as he helped me dissipate the smoke.

"Now, this is like my old Roza." I slapped his arm, throwing the towel down on the counter. "I'll order, shall I?" I shook my head laughing.

"This - this is your fault!" I could hear Dimitri's laugh bouncing off the wall as he ordered food. I walked into the living room and turned on the TV, closing the blinds. I grabbed the blanket from the back of the chair and threw it over myself and Dimitri's knees as he sat down. I snuggled into him, handing him the remote, telling him to choose the movie. He subconsciously rubbed little circles on the top of my arm as he allowed it to drape down.

"I'm going to miss this." I whisper resting my head in the crook of his neck. He turned and kissed my forehead, wrapping his arms around me and squeezing. I looked up at him threw my eyelashes.

"Me too." He smiled.
