Rey thought it would be a normal day; breakfast, training, reading Jedi texts, lunch, training, helping around the falcon on repairs, dinner, training and bed. She was wrong however when the force bond opened as she was just waking up. The room went quiet and she heard someone moving in her room. Wiping her head to the side she locked eyes with Ben. He looked just as startled as she did, sitting there at 5 in the morning. She had no way of knowing what time it was for him but he was also dressed in light clothing for bed.

"What are you doing here?"

"This is my room." Rey wished more than anything in that moment that the bond would close. They were on a warm planet and she had been safe for weeks so she had gone without normal bedclothes. Since being with the resistance she had put on some healthy weight from being a scavenger, her shorts were too short to be warn for training anymore, so they were now use as nightwear, this was not something she wanted her enemy to see. She wanted him to only view her as a rival not as a woman in her bedroom.

"It's not what I imagined…wait, I can see you and your room" Ben looked around and upon discovering he could see her entire room, started moving things around. Ben looked too big to be in her small space, even just in his t-shirt and lightweight pants he looked too large for this space. He moved from the book shelf with the few books she took from Luke, to her hair brush and her stack of clothes that were neatly folded on her desk. Rey watched from her perch on her bed, growing anxious that this wouldn't end fast enough for her to leave for breakfast. If not, someone would come looking for her, it's not like her to miss a meal.

"Ben-"

"You stole the Jedi texts?" Ben looked amused as he flipped through the one that she left open on her desk. He was reading the page she had left open; she had been searching for the Dyad bond for weeks now and finally found a passage. It didn't have a lot of knowledge she understood yet, but maybe if Ben knew something, they could combine the knowledge. "I bet Skywalker wasn't happy about that".

Rey smiled a little, "No, I suppose he wasn't, but he didn't bring it up yesterday." Upon saying that Rey got quiet, she hadn't meant to say she saw Luke, it slipped out. But Ben was too preoccupied to seem to care. "Why are you going through my things?"

"What else would you have me do, fight you?" Ben looked at Rey, "What have you found on our bond." A statement, not a friendly one at that. "Are you planning on breaking it, from what I've found it's really painful and usually only done at one's death."

Rey looked over to Ben and decided to answer honestly, he might feel if she lied. "I just wanted to know more… sometimes I feel your emotions when we aren't connected, and other times I've felt a pain randomly; but it's not my body that's been injured. I wonder how much the bond makes us share, and if there's a way to limit it unless we want it to-"

"Are you injured?" He sounded concerned. He flipped the book shut and turned to her.

"What? No, it's just a bruise, I'm sure whatever wound you received was worse" Rey tried to back pedal.

"Show me" He started toward her.

"No" Just as he was a couple feet from her bed, she sprung up and dodged around him. The bruise wasn't that big of a deal but she did wonder how he got injured.

By jumping from the bed, he was able to see the black and blue mark on her thigh. He cursed in Wookie of all things. "Did Chewy teach you how to say those that?" It slipped out before she could contain her laugh.

"Rey this isn't funny. That could have been more serious" He glared at her leg as if it had offended him and he wanted to cut it off with his lightsaber.

"Ben really, it isn't so bad, you should be concerned with your own leg. How bad was it?" She wasn't sure why she was asking him if his leg was ok. What sense did that make? She was sure the bond would end soon, maybe it was better to be civil in the base with everyone sleeping around her.

".. I've had worse, I…. I'm sorry, I didn't know the bond worked this way, I'll make sure to take less damaged on the battle field" Rey stood with her mouth open, "Did you, the great Kylo Ren just apologize?" Rey smirked at his glare.

He looked at her with a glare but also an edge of concern, "I –"

He was gone. With a sigh her shoulders dropped and she went to grab clothes to head to breakfast. After that tense morning Rey had left her hair down, running her fingers through it instead of brushing it, she was headed to breakfast when she ran into Leia. "Good morning General" Rey smiled at Leia, she looked confused at Rey for a moment.

"Rey, can I have a moment, there's something I wanted to show you." Leia lead Rey out behind the compound into the forest. "I've had some help, we set up a Jedi course for you. It should help with your training; I know you have those old books but for the physical part and mental endurance this should help."

Rey didn't know what to say, she was really touched that Leia had gone to all this trouble. "Thank you so much, I'll have to go though it after breakfast!"

"Rey, I need to ask you a question, I felt Ben's presence here this morning- Did the bond open again?"

"Did Luke mention the bond? On his island we weren't sure what it was exactly."

Leia nodded, "He thinks it's a special bond, but he wasn't sure what it was for sure, I was waiting for you to tell me on your own, but when I felt him this morning, I was worried about you."

Leia was looking at Rey, and Rey had no idea how to not tell Leia everything. So, she did, starting with Luke's island. All the way to the falcon saving everyone on Crait. At the end Leia wanted to see Rey's leg. The bruise was indeed a scary color but it didn't hurt to touch anymore.

"Really Leia it's ok, the strangest part is how sad Ben felt about it, he apologized to me, but it was the feeling behind it that shocked me the most. There's still good in him, I feel it." Leia had tears in her eyes and hugged Rey, "I have hope he will come home one day. Maybe you're the spark that will bring my son home Rey."

Rey blushed for being thought of that importantly, "I don't believe it's only me, I think he cares a great deal for many things."

They talked on their way back to the compound and went to breakfast, along the way Rey let Leia in on a few things she'd seen Ben do. "Did you know he still practices calligraphy? I saw him writing once and he has some drawings- he's pretty good."
Leia smiled, "He always liked art as a child, he loved books and learning."

They parted ways at breakfast, after grabbing a tray of food Rey found her friends. "Good morning."

Finn and Poe were in an argument about something or other and so only Rose responded, "Good morning Rey!" While trying to figure out what had them so animated Rey ate her breakfast in silence.

"Poe, I swear you can't do that, that's cheating" Poe looked at Finn and smiled, "All's fair in love and war." Finn threw his hands in the air, "If you do that, I'm doing it too." Rey was curious, looked to rose and asked her what they were talking about, Rose shrugged her shoulders. "I got here just before you, they won't tell me what's going on. But it's a bet, I'm not sure on what but it sounds like it's been boring around here so they are making bets." Rose rolled her eyes, "Isn't boring a good thing? It means were safe."

Rey had to agree, after she finished her food, she excused herself to the training area. "I'll see you guys later, Leia set up an area for me to train." She was curious of the bet, but she was sure by dinner time Finn would cave and tell Rose and Rey about it.

She spent the afternoon training and only came back well after the sun was lowering into sunset. Leia had come to see her once and Rose another time. BB8 had gone with her for a little bit as well.

"Thank you so much Leia! This course was just what I needed. Is this how you and Luke practiced?"

"It's very similar, Luke and I trained many many years ago, once I knew I was pregnant I stopped. I had a vision of Ben's future, so I thought if I stopped training, I would protect him. In the end I was wrong, but I'd like to think I was around more than I would have been if I was off on missions saving the galaxy."

"Would you like to run through the course with me sometime?" Rey looked anxious at Leia, hoping she would say yes.

Leia smiled, "I would like that. We can do that this week; I'll clear a morning for us."

Later that evening as Rey and Rose had gone to the dinner line together, they noticed something strange, neither Finn nor Poe were present. "I've got a bad feeling they might be pranking us again." Rose looked to Rey and she rolled her eyes.

"The last prank didn't go over well if I remember right. They ended up stuck in some trees when they scared me." Poe had jumped out and scared Rey while she was training with Finn and upon startling her, she force shoved them both into the tree's, Poe got stuck 20 feet in the air and Rey refused to help him down for a while. "Maybe they are just busy, or pranking someone else."

"I hope you're right; I don't want to be on the receiving end." Rose looked around a little nervously while they walked to a table.

"Maybe we should suggest to the General that Poe go on a supply run tomorrow to save ourselves the trouble." Rose nodded her head at Rey's suggestion.

They ate in peace for a little while, talking about the repairs they needed to make to the falcon and other ships that Rose had been working on. Rey told Rose about Plutt putting the compressor on the hard drive of the Falcon. "That doesn't seem like it would make it fly better by putting more pressure on it." Rey agreed.

Petty soon a young man walked up to them and started talking to Rose first, Rose smiled at him and knew him from working on ships together. He offered to take rose on a walk and walk her back to her room. She thought it strange but accepted. Rey waved her off and started to grab their trays and head off to find Chewy to work on the falcon. As soon as she dumped her tray a man stepped into her view. At the same moment she felt the sounds around her change and prayed she was just losing her hearing. The middle of the food area was not a great time for Ben to appear. If he could see her surrounds now, could the resistance see him?

"Hello Rey!" The man had short brown hair and green eyes; she'd seen him around. He was taller than her by a little bit so she had to look up when he said her name.

"Hello Chris, how was patrol today?" Even though no attacks had come recently, they still held patrols and supply runs.

He chatted happily about how his day was going, all the while Rey felt like someone was glaring at her, now she was sure that the bond had opened, how was she supposed to concentrate on this guy's chatter when someone was glaring at her back. "-anyway, I was hoping I could be your escort to the dance tomorrow night."

"Wait- what? What dance?" Rey was confused, was this what Poe was planning, a dance?

"Yeah General Organa and Dameron were thinking it was a shame we haven't had any social chances to relax and the General does love to dance from what I've heard." He looked at her like he expected her to say yes.

"Well, I don't know how to dance, but I'm sure I'll be there tomorrow night." Rey understood his meaning, and was trying to get around it, which backfired right away.

"Great! I'll make sure to teach you some dance moves tomorrow before hand!" With that he turned away and smiled smugly across the room at Finn who was peaking his head around a corner. Rey glared and her mouth fell open as she realized the full extent of the bet.

"Great…. "Rey had momentarily forgotten Ben was there. She suddenly could feel the anger and hatred radiating behind her. Instead of fueling his wrath there, she started out toward the falcon. "Ben, now is not a good time."

"No, apparently the resistance is just focusing on dating instead of protecting themselves." Ben was glaring at her; she couldn't understand why he would be mad at her.

"Really, we can't control when it opens, I think whatever made you upset you should keep it on your end of the bond, I have enough to deal with right now." Just at that moment the falcon came into view and she visibly relaxed. The bond didn't end right away so Ben had to sit uncomfortably in the falcon while Rey and Chewy made repairs. The two he could tell were very close and the Wookie had rubbed her hair like he used to do his. Ben felt a familiar feeling of love through that gesture.

Just when Rey was done and wiping the grease from her hands Ben lifted his hand and rubbed the spot on her cheek. "You have grease everywhere. How did you manage that?" It took a moment for Ben to realize that Rey was rooted to the spot. Her eyes big and her mouth dropped open. "Chewy I can explain!" Suddenly Ben was hit in the back by a giant Wookie. Chewy started yelling at him in Wookie and thankfully not many people understood the language. Rey stepped in front of Ben so Chewy wouldn't be able to attack him. "Chewy, Leia already knows." This drew Ben's attention, he looked horrified. Rey looked down at him, "She said next time I see you to say hello from her by the way."

Chewy was angrily pacing saying he deserved an explanation. As things were proceeding at the moment, she heard Poe at the entrance asking if everything was ok. "Yeah Poe! Everything's fine! Chewy just lost at Dejarik."

Chewy angrily answered back that everything was fine. He still glared at both Rey and Ben.

"I didn't know how to tell people that we have a bond, sometimes he just appears, other times I appear where he is. But no one is able to see him unless he touches me. He's been here the whole time, waiting for the bond to break so he can go back to his ship."

Ben stayed silent for this, all the while rubbing his back where he was sure to have a bruise, which made his eyes flick to Rey. "How is your back."

Rey's eyes flicked to him, "It's ok"

"Show me"

She blushed, "No I'm not showing you my back."

Chewy interrupted with a Wookie growl. "Recently, if I get injured, she shares in that injury. So, when you hit my back, I'm sure she felt the same pain." Chewy instantly flipped Rey around and pulled up the bottom of her shirt.

"Chewy!" She force pushed Ben and Chewy back away from her, her face red and angry. "No one needs to worry about me or my body. I will look after myself!" She stormed off and the connection ended just as Ben and Chewy shared a look. Chewy was stunned that Ben was gone and followed Rey off the ship. Poe was waiting and wondering what was going on to make Rey all flustered. Maybe now wasn't the right time for his half of the bet yet. With a wave of his hand he waved off someone that was hoping to speak to Rey.
