I don't know why but i felt like I could trust this guy. He didn't really asked me a lot questions, i think he knew not to bother a girl when she's hungry and tired. But i was getting bored. It was the first time in 4 days that I could talk to someone.
- "Dude you told me the village was nearby and we've been walking for hours."
- "Don't worry we'll be there before dawn."
- "So... do you live there?"
- "Not exactly."
- "Are you far from home?"
- "I don't have a home." He said calmly.
I started to think that maybe we had something in common.
- "What about you? Where's your home?"
- "I don't think i have it either."
- "You think?"
- "Yeah my situation's kinda complicated."
- "You ran away or something?" He said kinda angry.
- "I'm not sure."
He stopped and turned to face me. He looked in my eyes as he would find answers there.
- "What's wrong?" I ask.
- "Listen, if you ran away because your parents were hurting you or something, I understand that. But if you're just pulling some teenage tantrums you better go back. I hate when people don't appreciate what they have."
I'm kinda hurt, why does he think that I'm some kind of brat who would pull something like that. He just stares at me and waits for an answer.
- "I'm not some kind of idiot, you know. 4 days ago i woke up in this forest, I don't know who i am or how i got here. All i know is that my name starts with a letter "M" and I'm 16, well i think I'm 16. So I don't want your judgement, i have much bigger problems than to worry about what you think of me."
He looks at me for a second, the look in he's eyes change, he turns around and starts to walk again.
- "So you're all alone too huh?" He asks sadly.
- "I guess. But what about you? You don't have a family? What about friends?"
- "I don't have anyone. I've been alone since i was 14, I'm always on the move, i come across a lot of people but i guess I don't have any close friends."
- "That's kinda sad."
- "Shut up. You're even more mess than i am." He laughs.
- "We're both a mess, what a duo." I laugh too.
- "Well were finally here." He says and i see a village in the horizon.
- "Finally."
- "Hey listen, I'm gonna stay in this village for a couple of days and then move again. You can come along if you want. I can teach you how to survive around here and maybe we can figure out who you are. I can't really leave you alone, not knowing if you'll be okay. Plus I could use a company."
- "What a generous offer." I say jokingly
- "I'm serious."
- "Thank you. but I don't wanna hurt you." I say looking down at my feet.
- "I don't think that you'll hurt me."
- "Well not intentionally" i pause and he looks at me "i think i might be dangerous, I'm having these nightmares were i hurt people, where i have some kind of weird power and I'm not in control of myself. It scares me knowing that i can hurt someone, not even realizing what I'm capable of. That's why i tried to just walk away from those men."
I look at him waiting for his expression to change, but he just looks at me and smiles, reassuring me that his not afraid of me, that I'm not a freak or a monster.
- "Than i can help you figure out what your power is and maybe you can learn how to control it." he says.
- "Are you sure?" i ask, giving him a chance to change his mind. I'm shocked that he took it so easy and calmly. He really is something else.
- "Positive." He smiles.
- "It's a deal than." I say smiling back as we approach the gates of the village.
