Atlantis
Atlantis, she sings for me,
Low and sweet, honeyed,
Sorrow lines her speech, grief her hands,
And tears adorn her face like fading pearls.
Often I hear her call my name in the night as I sleep,
But she is gone when I drag myself from its cage,
My arms empty, bed cold.
She calls in the day too,
In crowds, and empty halls, empty fields, empty streets,
Desperate,
I chase after her voice.
Where is she?
The land knows not of her.
Where is she?
The skies do not see her.
Where is she?
Fire cannot burn her.
The depths have taken her, a place so deep,
My heart shall never reach her,
She will be lost forevermore.
Oh Atlantis,
Weeping in the sea.
