Tree, Part 2

If you were a tree:

-That I met at an age, that does not let me remember you,

-Only your size,

-Smaller than even my palm.

.

-That grew alongside me,

-Faster than me,

-Slower than me,

-One day larger than I could ever be.

.

-Whose shade I laid under,

-Whose trunk I had my back pressed against,

-Whose branches and leaves I looked through,

-Whom I climbed and spent leisurely days on.

.

-You would be left to be as you were,

-Would be given gifts,

-I would talk to you,

-I would watch you grow.

.

If you were a tree,

-I would let you grow tall and large,

-A sprawling monster,

-A behemoth,

-That people would fear,

-For a ghost with blood-soaked hair lingers there,

-And die under you where nobody would see me.

.

If you were a tree,

-I would still love you,

-complete.
