Read! Enjoy! Review! I dare you! Just joking. That being said, I really do hope that you'd drop a few words. I need to know how this is going. Thanks!

The Stoner

Hermione walked out into the New York night. Strolling casually out onto the balcony of the common floor. The patio set was large enough to hold a party of fifteen easily. She pulled the wrap she was wearing tighter around herself, as she settled down onto the large lounge. She absently lit the firepit in front of herself with wandless magic. Pulling out her joint, she lit it casually the same way and let out a long stream of smoke into the night.

"Weed is illegal in New York," came from Tony as he joined her on the lounge. "But if you share, the authorities won't hear a word from me."

"How magnanimous of you," she drawled with a smile. But she pulled out a joint for him and handed it over to him. "Here you go." She took another drag on her own. "It's medicinal by the way."

"Really?" He lit it and took a puff. "Smooth."

"Made that way. Mild and yet ever so…"

"Holy shit!" He looked around. "Is the sky turning into a rainbow?"

"…strong," she finished. "Yes, it is. Now remember just stay seated, enjoy the high while it lasts, and remember whatever happens within the next forty-eight hours—you didn't get that joint from me." She took another puff. "Do you have one of those projector hologram thingies…"

"Thingies?"

"I'm a mathematician, not a tech person. Sue me. Well, do you have one out here?"

"Yeah," he sighed, relaxing into the lounge much as Hermione had. "What do you want it for?"

"Let's watch a movie."

Laughing he said, "I have just the one."

Four hours later Pepper found the two of them laughing, eating nachos, and pointing out the scientific inaccuracies out in the movie The Core.

"Hi Pepper!" Tony said, waving to her.

"Hi Pepper," Hermione echoed. "This is the best comedy."

"Too bad it wasn't made to be one," Tony replied.

"What's too bad is that they are killing off all the good characters," she muttered, looking down at the chip that was loaded and headed towards her mouth. "These are excellent nachos."

"You always get excellent nachos when a five-star chef makes them," he told her, looking back over to Pepper. "Hey, am I missing a meeting or something?"

"No," she answered. "I was just checking on you as you two have been out here for four hours and its currently midnight."

"Oh," Hermione sighed. "Does that mean it's late?"

"Yes, sweetheart, it's late," Bucky said, as he joined them. "Took your medicine?"

She nodded. "Want some nachos? They're excellent."

He went over, sitting down next to her. Picking up a napkin, he wiped her face free of the miasma that the nachos left in its wake on her features. "Is there real food in this?"

"Protein—both plant based and animal, animal biproducts, and vegetables. And corn chips too." She looked into his eyes. "Can't have nachos without them."

"That you can't," he murmured. "Feeling better?"

"The back is still a bit twitchy, but once I get this finished and hit the hay…" She gave him a thumbs up. "But that being said, I don't think I'll be able to finish this. Want some?"

Ten minutes later, the nachos were finished, Hermione was sound asleep in Bucky's arms, and Tony was being scowled at by Steve.

"Getting stoned helps nothing," Steve lectured Tony.

"Tell me something, Mr. I can recover from anything," Tony said, his voice brittle. "When was the last time you had a body part that wouldn't work after multiple injuries?" He lifted his left hand. "This is the first time I haven't felt pain in my left appendage in forever. Yeah, I got stoned, but the rainbows left three hours ago. And now, my arm feels like normal and I'm reveling in it."

He looked over to Hermione, wanting to ask her how long this feeling would last. But she was sound asleep. And something told him that only a very strong earth-shattering event would have her stirring, never mind waking.

Bucky looked over to Steve, telling him, "Don't knock 'em for using that stuff. I don't know about him, but it works for her when nothing else does." His lips pursed. "She has trouble with her back and she has seizures if it gets bad enough. She uses the marijuana for medicine. And if what he's saying is true about his arm, it's just as much a medicine for him too." He stood up with her in his arms. "You're going to have to help Pepper with him. Good night."

Bucky walked away with Hermione turning to face him, hugging him as she got more comfortable in his arms.

"Yeah, about that," Tony said, looking to Steve. "I'm so not against riding the rainbow if it's your thing or supporting those who do. I just wanted that out there before I said anything that would get me into trouble."

"Okay," Steve said, waiting for the boom.

"I never thought I would say these words to a man," he murmured. He lifted his arms and demanded dramatically, "Take me to bed!"

Pepper snorted with laughter, even as Steve was blushing like mad.

"Why is it that you can't seem to walk yourself?" Steve asked him.

"The rainbows might be gone, but my legs haven't been able to work for three hours now." Tony frowned. "Weird. I have to ask Hermione about that tomorrow."

Rolling his eyes, Steve went over to him and scooped him up. Looking over to Pepper, he told her, "Lead the way."
