After that day's events, The Medic had asked The Spy to make a copy of The Bruiser's photos and records that were in her folder. Three days have passed since then and Medic was once again looking over Janine's and Harold's information. The information correlated perfectly between both of the mercenaries' records.
"'Harold Daecan - Father of Janine Daecan' and 'Janine Daecan - Daughter of Harold Daecan'." The doctor read out loud to himself in his lab. He then heard sounds coming from the bed Janine rested on. He looked over to see her moving around on the bed and she stretched.
He quickly but carefully put the two folders into a drawer and looked towards Bruiser again. "Mmm...Medic?" She called out. The doctor was amused at this.
Already figuring out who to call when in pain, I see.
"Over here, Fräulein." He answered with a wave, rising from his seat and approaching her side. Janine let out a yawn and sat up. "How long have I been out?" She asked drowsily. "You have been resting for three days, Fräu." He replied.
Her eyes widened at this, as expected by the Medic. "Th-three days?! That's too long!" She then looked down at herself. The doctor expected her to panic once again when she'd see that she wasn't in her outfit.
Janine touched the robe he had her in and sighed. She then looked back up at him and winced. "It was the gloves, wasn't it?" She asked quietly, afraid to hear his reply.
Medic nodded. "Let me see if you've healed up since then, Fräu." Janine straightened up her posture and sat still, letting him examine her head and back. "No more fractures or damage to ze body," She heard him talk to her, or was it to himself?
"Perfect." He stated with a friendly smile. "Your clothes are on ze chair next to ze bed." He then told her, nodding towards the chair with her clothes neatly folded onto it.
He then sat back at his desk and took out the folders to look at them again. "Zere is a changing room to your left if you want to change before leaving ze room." He advised. "Ah, okay." He heard her say quietly.
It was when he heard her start to get out of bed that he quickly got back out of his seat and looked at her. "Wait, don't get out just yet." Janine stayed sitting on the bed and looked at him, confused.
Medic walked over to her and firmly held both of her hands. "Okay, now you may." He nodded. She looked at him for another moment and then attempted to get up, but her legs gave out. Medic was quick to react, as he bent down to catch Bruiser and pull her up towards his chest.
She let out a small yelp and then dug her face into his chest in embarrassment. Janine heard the doctor chuckle and felt him run his fingers through her hair.
"Don't worry, Fräulein. I knew this vould happen." He assured her as he began to rub her back. "I wish I did..." She mumbled and turned her head to lean it on his chest as she hugged him. Medic laughed once again as he helped her sit back on the bed.
Bruiser's cheeks were bright red as she looked away. "My legs felt like jelly, Medic." She defended herself. "It's not funny." A pout appeared on her face.
"It is a bit funny." He admitted with a smile. "Zere is no hurry to be up and about so quickly." He told her.
"I'd like to know what I missed out on." She said, giving her legs a couple of shakes to get used to moving them. "Not much, really." The doctor replied as he watched. "Ze Scout vould come in often to see how you vere doing. He was very worried." He finished.
Janine then began to shake her legs quicker than before. "That means I have to go see him and tell him I'm okay." She muttered. Medic was amused at her impatience. "Vell, it seems I am unable to stop you." He said with a slight chuckle.
"It seems so." She replied with a smile. After another moment of rigorous leg shaking, she slowly stood back up as to not fall again. Bruiser then picked up her clothes from the chair and headed into the changing room.
Medic went back to his file reading. When Janine finished changing, the doctor heard her footsteps coming near. He turned the files upside down on the table and turned to look at her. This confused her and she eyed the files for a quick second.
Must be some important documents if he's hiding them like that...
She then remembered what she was going to say. "Oh, um, thank you for taking care of me, Medic."
"It vas nothing, Fräulein." He acknowledged with a nod.
"I hope I didn't take too much of your time or anything." She told him with a sheepish smile.
"Oh, of course not! I was able to fix you up very quickly. Zhen all I had to do after was make sure you vere still breathing ze days after." He smiled.
"Well, I'm glad that I had you to care for me, Medic. Maybe I could make it up to you? I'm not sure what you like, but maybe I could make you some food you're into." She suggested.
The doctor grinned in amusement. "Maybe you could." He then cleared his throat. "Anyvay, I should get back to my research, Fräulein."
Bruiser stepped back a bit in realization. "Oh, of course! You probably already had a lot to do while caring for me and here I am, trying to have a chat when I'm all healed." She let out a nervous giggle.
"Just make sure you get back to me about that food or anything you want to repay you, okay?" Janine asked as she began to leave the room.
"I vill try to remember, Fräu." Was Medic's response as she waved goodbye to him and headed out into the hallway.
