Chapter 2
Ainz Ooal Gown was not having a good day. The acquisition of the E-Rantel Kingdom had caused more problems, headaches, and most importantly a lot more paperwork. Luckily, he had the help of his overseer, Albedo, to aid. Unluckily, his other helper, Demiurge was off somewhere in the Roble Holy KIngdom doing who knows what to who. Not that Ainz particularly cared. Demiurge had managed to bring him higher quality scrolls, and he also seemed to be working on some sort of weapons project. As long as he got the results, Ainz was perfectly fine to just sit on his ass and continuously nod as if he knew what was going on. That didn't change the fact that there was still paperwork that needed to be done, and he was the only one qualified to do it. So, he here was. On his desk, signing and reading papers. Until, the alert came from the Defense System.
Strange he thought Is it a glitch? He clicked on the message, and it opened a Mirror of Remote Viewing, allowing him to see what caused the Defense System to go off. What he saw horrified him. Gargantua, the one who was considered to be unbeatable, was on his knees dead. His arms were both lopped off, and one of his legs had crumbled into dust. He could barely stay conscious. In front of him stood a knight holding a giant blade with two prongs coming out of it. The knight took a stance and raised the sword high above his head. He then slammed it down to the ground. A gust of wind came forth from the blade and sliced Gargantua in two.
Ainz looked at the Mirror of Remote Viewing with shock, but that did not last long. Within a few seconds, Albedo burst into his office. "LORD AINZ!" she yelled, forcing Ainz out his state of daze.
"Did you see it?" she asked "Gargantua is-"
"Dead," ended Ainz, "Yes, I know Albedo." This is bad, really bad! Gargantua was one of the best Floor Guardians. HOW COULD HE LOSE? Is it some other player a hacker. No, n, no! Losing my calm won't help her, I need to keep my wits about me. He took a deep breath (or at least however deep a breath a skeleton could take) and said, "I assume that you already have begun counter measures." Albedo gave a terse nod.
"Cocytus and Nigredo have both been warned, and the Frost Virgin are there to provide support. Also, do forgive me Lord Ainz if I have overstepped my bounds, I have sent Pleiades to the 5th Floor just in case."
"Good," said Ainz. Then, he asked the obvious question,"Who is he, and why is he doing this?"
"Truly, my beloved, I don't know," she said. She then prostrated herself, "Lord Ainz! Please forgive this one's foolishness and stupidity. If it pleases you, I shall kill myself in front of you as repentance."
"No, no Albedo!" said Ainz. Ehhhhhhhhh...Is she insane! he thought. "We will talk about how this happened late," he said, "For now, focus on the person in front of us and protect the Tomb of Nazarick with all your power."
"I will, my love!" she said.
The Ashen One looked down at the crumbled mass of boulders and dust. You were strong, he thought But Yhorm the Giant was stronger. He switched the Storm Ruler to his Exile's Greatsword and continued on. As soon as he passed into the 5th Floor, he saw that he walked right into an ambush.
A giant frost beetle, who was probably the man named Cocytus, stood with a woman who helped giant scissors and an army of what looked like angels from the Ringed City. On top of that, six shadowy figures stood in the distance, but who knows why they were there? Of course, the Ashen One's attention was not at the army in front of him but at the giant black blob in the sky.
"BE WARNED INTRUDER!" said the black blob "YOU HAVE INVADED THE TOMB OF NAZARICK! IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE, YOU WILL SURREN-" It never got to finish the sentence for a Dragonslayer Greatarrow pierced right through it.
The Ashen One replaced his Dragonslayer Greatbow with the DragonCrest Shield and an Executioner's Greatsword. He turned to his opponents, seething with rage. It didn't matter how many they put in front of him all would fall.
"So, you are the intruder," he said. The Ashe One did not respond.
"I take it since you passed the previous level that Garganta's death is more than hearsay?" he asked. The Ashen One stayed silent still. "Your silence says yes. Shame," he said, "But he died a warrior's death; the only thing one can hope for. As for you invader, you will be stopped here."
"Indeed," the girl said. The Ashen One remained silent for a few moments. Then, he pointed directly at the army and then at the ground. His intentions were clear.
The beetle and the girl charged at him while the Angels began to cast high tier spells that sent down walls of light. The Ashen One managed to dodge the light beams, but he was not so lucky with the girl and the beetle. The beetle slashed with all of his arms, making a whirlwind with blades, while the girl stabbed at him with her overgrown scissors. The girl's attack hit him square in the chest, and the beetle's four arms hit him in the. With the combined force of the two, they sent him flying backwards. Not missing a second the girl charged at him again while the beetle started to charge some sort of attack. All the while, the angels continued to rain light beams upon him. It was bad.
He couldn't do anything except take the beating. For now, he was fine, but his health was draining quickly. If he didn't get to his Estus, he would die. He needed a second. Just, one second. Luckily, he got it. When the girl with the black hair got close with her scissors, the angels ceased firing. They probably had hope not to hit her, but what they actually did was give the Ashen One time to switch his Executioner's Greatsword with the Sage Crystal's Staff. He used it to channel the sorcery of Farron's Flashsword and brought it down upon the girl. Just as quickly he turned his attention to the angels and used his remaining Focus Points to cast Soul Stream. A beam of blue Energy emitted from him as he aimed at all the angels. Within seconds, they were all turned to ash. All that was left was the beetle. Not wasting a second, the Ashen One charged at the beetle, switching his stave back to the Executioners Greatsword. He was going to end this now, but something seemed wrong.
The beetle was just standing there as if he was waiting to be hit. Why? The Ashen One figured it out as soon as he came within 30 ft of it. The beetle had cast some sort of AOE sorcery that froze the ground and was now freezing him. No! He thought. He struggled, trying to break free from the ice, but it was too strong. Worse, it was quickly crawling up his body, turning him into a statue of ice. I need to get to the Moss Clump! He thought. He reached into his pouch, but it was too late. The Ashen One was completely frozen.
Ainz Ooal Gown watched the battle from his Throne through the Mirror of Remote Viewing Short it had been, but the intensity still reverberated in the Throne Room. Shalltear had broken her umbrella in two. Aura had hugged Mare so tight that she might have fractured his ribs; and Sebas Tian had clenched his fist so hard blood had now come out from them. This man, whatever he was, had single handedly taken out all the Frost Virgins, Nigredo , and Gargantua by himself. Is he some sort of player? thought Lord Ainz Is this some sort of Vengeance for all the PKing we did? Then how did he get past Shalltear and the 1st and 2nd floors undetected, does he have some high tier magic? I should interrogate him, but what if he gets loose? What should I do? What should I do?
"Lord Ainz," Cocytus' voice said through the spell, [Message]. "The intruder has been captured, what do you want me to do with him?" Ainz thought for a moment and then turned to Albedo, "Albedo, what do you think?"
"May I be direct, my lord?" she asked.
"Indeed," he replied.
"Kill him, my lord" said Albedo. "He is far too dangerous to be left alive. Whatever information that we might get from interrogation is not worth the cost. With his strength and skill, he could escape and possibly cause more havoc and death. Even, and forgive for my impudence, my love, kill you." The words hung in the air.
"Albedo, how can you suggest that you bitch!" exclaimed Shalltear "No one cand defeat Ainz-sama. No One."
"Regardless," interjected Sebas, "This man needs to be dealt with permanently. He has caused too much damage, and who knows what else he can do."
"I AGREE!" said Aura. Mare tried to say something but all came out was a gasp of breath. He seemed to agree though. Ainz nodded and said through [Message], "Execute him, Cocytus." Cocytus nodded and raised his sword.
It took everyone to register what had just happened. They expected to see the intruder get cleaved into two, what they got was a sword through Cocytus' eyes. The intruder grabbed Cocytus and tackled him to the ground. He began to pound away at the face with his fist, but Cocytuse managed to stab him through the gut and use the leverage from his sword to slam the intruder. He then threw the man a 20ft if not at least 30 ft, but not before the intruder drove the greatsword into Cocytus's chest. BAM! The intruder hit the wall. CRACK! Cocytus's armor began to break. CRUNCH! The motionless body of the intruder hit the floor. BOOM! Cocytus' armor completely broke, and he stopped moving. For a moment, there was no movement on either side of the spell. No one said a word. Until, "Are they dead?" asked Mare.
"No," said Sebas, "Look." Was it will? Was it determination? Or was it just the warrior spirit of the two men? Regardless, both stood up, broken and bloodied. The invader pulled out something else. It wasn't a sword, a stave, or even a bow. It was a studded glove. His fist tightened, and he said, "Round Two."
