Dr. Hermione Granger-Barnes
The day had been chaos. Mike was off to school in Scotland. They had given him a choice of where he could go. Hermione and Bucky had even assured him that no matter where he went that they would be able to visit him and he would be taking all his holidays with them. Tony had provided the transportation over to England, but it had been Hermione who had made the portkey back to New York.
Once back to New York there had been the big moving party for Darcy, who was moving into a new apartment of her own in the Stark building. This unto itself wasn't an issue, but the other two magic users there weren't making it any easier. Wanda kept changing the walls red, Loki chose green, and Hermione just hexed them both with mild stinging charms and told them it wasn't their choice. That being said, she really had liked Wanda's choice, but had kept that opinion to herself.
Tony had come over later to their flat in the middle of dinner and had attempted to drag her over to the labs to double check his math. Hermione wanting nothing more than a moment's peace had used a spell that Dr. Strange had taught her and had created a dimensional hole under his feet that sent him straight back over to the labs when he wouldn't take no for an answer. It was her day off and, Merlin's left toenail, she was going to have the entire day off with her family!
Lucy, who up until this point grunted for the most part as a form of communication, said nearly a complete sentence.
"Mommy, down!"
Hermione stopped and looked over to the highchair the little doe eyed girl was sitting in with what few remains of her lunch a mess in front of her. Stunned the English witch said the only thing that popped into her head.
"Speak properly, love." When all the little girl did was blink at her, she amended, "Use whole sentences, please."
"Mommy, I want down."
Smiling, Hermione went over and picked her up, kissing the little girl all over her giggling face. "What a smart girl!" Taking her over to the bathroom, she cleaned up her little cherub face. "You have a clean face now, but oh no! I wiped away the kisses!" And proceeded to kiss her again, as she tickled her.
It wasn't until after James had picked up Rose from day school that Hermione had more than two seconds to herself. Lucy was doing her best not to fall asleep, despite needing a nap. Steve took the girls off for a day at the park to give their parents a break.
Hermione wrapped her arms around James's waist, telling him with happy tears, "She used a complete sentence and she called me mommy. I don't know which one I'm happiest about."
Smiling he leaned down and breathed, "It's the mommy part."
"Yeah, it's the mommy part."
When she thought of it, Hermione could never have dreamed of having this kind of life before. Even back when she had been fighting for what she believed in, this kind of existence hadn't been on her radar. Smiling to herself, she felt as James began dancing slowly with her. Yes, she thought, as she looked up into his love filled blue eyes, life was good.
The End!

And there you go! Thank you so much for taking the time to read these oneshots. Your time, even now, is so very important. And the fact that you're spending it reading this means so much to me. Here's to hoping that this pandemic and quarantine is over soon. Take care, stay safe, and, whatever you do, stay awesome.
