2 months had gone by it was June. After two months of going through the adoption process, and also looking at apartments, it was getting done quickly. Only because they are police, had good records, and not to mention Emmalyn was an orphan. It makes adopting her a lot easier when the child is an orphan sadly. It's mostly been paperwork and a lot of home studies. Therefore they've had to purchase a lot of items already, like a bed, dresser, toy box, and bigger stuff like that. everything that she had in her old home like clothes and toys had been given to Jaime and Eddie. But it was not much. They still hadn't mentioned any of this to the family in case they were disapproved because anything could happen. I mean what if Eddie got shot and killed in action would jaime still go through with all this?
But anyway Eddie came back from the mailbox with a letter that was either of acceptance or denied. They sat on the couch and opened it as quick as they could.
"Congratulations you have been accepted to-" Eddie read and stopped, she threw herself into jaimes arms and he did the same.
"We're gonna be parents Jaime!" She said, she was so excited.
"We have to tell my family tonight at dinner" he said.
"How? Should we have your dad open somthing or write on a cake-OH, is it anyone's birthday!?" she started throwing out ideas. But Jaime cut her off.
"I think we should get a high chair booster seat thing and take it with us tonight and just be like this is gonna have to stay here from now on." Jaime mentioned. Eddie loved the idea. So they got in the car and went to buy buy baby in Brooklyn. They picked up the booster seat, and a toy that was a police station with people and cars that they couldn't not get for her.
They got home and did some more organizing and cleaning of her room. They decided to set up at eddies apartment because it was more kid friendly and cheaper if they had to stay longer then they want. Jaime let a friend of his rent his place so they weren't wasting money and had a little more income.
They decided to be done for the day and got dressed for Sunday dinner. They had been to church earlier but decided to shower after sweating from running around all afternoon.
They left the apartment and put the booster seat in the back. They were a little late but it was all on purpose. They wanted everyone at the table waiting for them to make the announcement. They walked inside and walked through to the dining area. They had talked about how they wanted to do this. So Eddie walked in alone. Everyone looked at her she was smiling.
"Hi everyone" she said. Everyone was confused.
"Where's Jaime?" Pop asked. She looked out to the living room around the corner and then back at them. The whole family looked concerned.
"He's coming, he had to get something" she said. Everyone was still confused at what was going on and was waiting for jaime to turn the corner. Then he finally did holding the seat in hand. Everyone looked at it and then at them.
"So is it okay if this stays here from now on?" He asked acting like it was a serious question. Frank intervened and said
"Now son why would that need to stay here?" He had an idea of what was maybe going on. So did everyone else as their smiles grew.
"Well." Jaime smiles at eddie and puts his one hand on her back. The anticipation was killing everyone.
"We're adding an addition to this family and there gonna need a seat at the table... in two weeks" he said. everyone's face went from smiling ear to ear to straight confusion.
"2 weeks?" Erin said a little shocked.
"I'm not pregnant." Eddie confessed, in a joking matter because it was sorta obvious she was negative the 30-60 pounds. Briefly Eddie thought about a few months back when she got a negative pregnancy test. But this was equally exciting.
"We're adopting. Her name is Emmalyn, she's 3 years old and she's the sweetest little girl your ever gonna meet" Eddie explained. Everyone had a smile on there face shocked and excited.
"Wow" said Danny.
"Oh my gosh!" Said Nikki.
"This is so crazy!" Erin said.
"She's got beautiful blonde hair and the prettiest green eyes and her cuteness just melts your heart." Eddie added.
"We're all very happy for you two. But let's sit down" frank started to say. They sat down at the table setting the booster on the floor behind them.
"Let's pray and then I'm sure everyone wants to hear the whole story." Frank said. They all agreed and bowed there heads and pop prayed.
They had a long conversation about what this means and explained there looking for a place. There going to both take some time off here and there, they'd like to find a babysitter for the times that one of them can't be at home during the day. And there honeymoon will be postponed. After hearing there plan everyone felt good about this whole thing now that they heard the whole story.
They told the whole story about the day they met Emmalyn and what that day consisted of. Jaime explained how his heart just sunk for this girl who was orphaned so quickly while in the care of jaime and Eddie on the job for what was no longer then a few hours. It brought tears to eddies eyes at the table which made Nikki cry and Jaime got a little choked up.
"It was just like god was giving this little girl to us to save, and as soon as we got word that her parents both had died. I thought you know, who knows what could've happened to her in that situation. And I mean how can God make this any clearer." Jaime expressed. Eddie held his hand. He collected himself a second and wiped his eyes with his thumb.
"Here we are newly engaged trying to figure life out and figure out what life was gonna be and here it was. Parenthood" Jaime said. Eddie was crying he was about crying Danny was starting, Erin was crying and frank was getting there.
"I'm glad you accepted the sign and followed your heart, your both going to be great" pop told them. Everyone nodded in agreement and started in dessert.
On there way home the realtor called so they took the call. Eddie could only hear jaimes side.
"That's great news!" He said and then there was a pause. They got back to her apartment and got out of the car.
"Yes thank you so much we'll see you soon!" Jaime said and hung up. He was happy. And they walked torward the front doors of the building.
"Did we get it!?" Eddie asked before Jaime could say anything.
"Hell yeah we did!" Jaime said excitingly and opened his arms for Eddie to hug him.
"Oh my god! This is so great!" Eddie said, he hugged him so tight and he kissed her forehead.

A few days later they settled on the apartment! It was still going to be a few weeks until they could move in though. They spend all there off time packing up as much as they could but with Emmalyn coming soon they couldn't even pack that much. It was basically just kitchen stuff Eddie hardly uses,linens, and decorations.
Jaime was on a day tour while Eddie was labeling boxes and keeping good lists in case she needed anything in the next few weeks it would be easier to find.
Eddies phone rang, it was frank.
"Hey what's going on?" She said. A call from the police commissioner in the middle of the day was not something you looked forward to. But you figure if it wasn't in person it wasn't terrible news.
"Hey so we just got a load of paper down here at the office if you wanna come pick up boxes or I can arrange a drop off" Frank told her. She was floored. She was running out of boxes.
"Oh great! I'll be there! Where should I go?" Eddie asked.
"I'll have Sid come escort you don't worry" frank assured her.
"Thank you sir" she replied.
"Eddie are you in uniform?" He asked catching her off guard she looked down.
"No...?" She said.
"Call me frank please" he stated. She laughed and smiled over the phone.
"Sorry. Frank. I'll see ya thanks" she said.
"Yes you will goodbye" frank said and hung up. She got dressed, left her apartment and headed to 1 PP.
When she got there Sid was there to greet her.
"The future Mrs.Reagan." He stated she smiled. He led her to the auditorium room. There was people and presents and food and decorations all over!
"What's all this for!?" She asked.
"This is your bridal shower and baby shower." Sid told her. She got emotional and then Jaime emerged from the crowd.
"Hi honey, you surprised?" He asked, embracing her in a hug and kissing her.
"Yes! Did you do this?! How'd you keep this a secret!?" She asked.
" let's face it eddie I'm just good" he told her. She blushed.
"Come on let's get this started, I actually am working today I didn't lie about that." he said pulling her to sit down in a chair surrounded by so many presents. This was overwhelming but she was so happy.
"Oh jaime you don't have to stay I know guys don't really go to these things" she said quietly to him and he tilted his head to hear her as he sat down on a chair next to her. He pulled his head back and put his hands on the top of his thighs.
"No I'm gonna stay Eddie it's what fiancés are supposed to do" he told her. She grinned at him and let it go at that. She was so happy he was supportive.
There had to of been 200 people here. With everyone bringing a gift! They got so much, from clothes, to car seats, to toys, books, bags, wipes, pull ups, bed sheets, blankets, sippy cups, hair bows, socks, shoes, etc. you name it she got it. Plus she got things for her and Jaime for the house like crockpots, vacuum, towels, dishes, blenders, silverware, home decor, etc. she was beaming with happiness. They couldn't wait to put it in there new apartment.
