Saturday July 1st it's adoption day!! Jaime and Eddie took off the whole weekend to make sure it all went smoothly. Eddie took off the week, Jaime being a sergeant didn't want to take all that time off. They didn't know what to expect, they just knew it was gonna be an adjustment, for Emmalyn, Jaime and Eddie. They got dressed up and headed to the foster home. Holding hands in the car on there way, both of them were nervous but excited without a doubt.
They got to the building got inside and signed in and waited for there names to be called. 4 minutes went by and there agent came out to get them with Emmalyn. She practically ran into jaimes arms she was so happy.
The foster home had already been prepping her the last few weeks that she's going to go home with Jaime and Eddie and there going to be her new parents. They already went through the conversation about her parents being gone forever and answered all her questions so that Jamie and Eddie didn't have to deal with all of that on top of gaining a 3 year old.
"Well that was easy! Your good to go!" The agent said as she witnessed Emmalyn go to jaime with no hesitation.
"We don't have to sign anything else?" Eddie asked.
"Nope your good. Just sign her out! And we'd like to take a picture of you guys if you want in front of this wall. It's just to hang up on that wall over there" She told her pointing to the backdrop wall that said "Newly blended" in black paint. And then the other wall she pointed to was hundreds of pictures of new parents with their adopted child.
"Oh yeah of course!" Eddie said. They went and stood at the wall Jaime held her in the middle of him and Eddie. Emmalyn wrapped one arm around eddies neck and the other around jaimes and giggled which made Eddie and Jaime laugh. It was the most candid cutest picture you've ever seen.
"That was perfect!" The agent said.
"Thank you so much!" Eddie said as they walked torward the door, Jaime put Emmalyn down.
"Yes it was a pleasure. Thank you." Jaime said shaking her hand.
"No thank you!" The agent said and left them.
"Okay are you ready to see your new room and new toys?" Eddie asked her.
"Yeah!!" She yelled and started jumping up and down. Eddie put her hand out for her to grab it. They walked out to the car and got her in her car seat. She was very talkative on the way home. They got to eddies apartments and got out.
When they walked in Emmalyn walked around looking at everything and it was super cute.
"See if you can find your room sweetie" Eddie told her. She was excited and started exploring. First she went in jaime and eddies room.
"Is this my room?" She asked and they laughed.
"No keep looking" Jaime said. So she walked out and then pushed open the door to her bedroom.
"Huh!" She let out and ran in looking at all the new things. It made Jaime and Eddie smile and their heart exploded. She immediately played with the police station toy they got for her. Jaime and Eddie looked at each other in shock and smiled. Jaime rubbed her back and kissed her cheek.
"I love you" he told her.
"I love you. Thanks for pushing for this" she told him.
"What should we do for dinner?" He asked her.
"Well I'd like to save those frozen meals we got gifted for days we work." Eddie told him and walked out to the kitchen to see what she can make.
"Aw this is so special her first dinner here." She said, Jaime loved how she could be sentimental cause he wasn't very. She opened her cabinet and found shell noodles, she had cheese to make Mac and cheese. She looked in the freezer and got out hamburgers, and a bag of steam fresh peas. Then realizing Emmalyn might not even like any of it so she went to her room where she found Jaime sitting with her playing on the floor.
"Emmalyn do you like Mac and cheese?" Eddie asked and she said yes.
"Do you like hamburger?" She asked. She said yes but with "chetchup" Eddie smiled and went out to the kitchen to start making it.
Jaime was playing with the police station toy with Emmalyn in her room. She picked up the one police officer and looked at jaime.
"Are you my new daddy?" She asked jaime. He got a lump in his throat and froze a little.
"Yes." Jaime said hoping her response wasn't gonna break his heart.
"Good." She said which made Jaime smile.
"Do you remember me wearing that?" Jaime asked pointing to the doll wearing a police uniform.
"Yeah! Your a cop." She told him.
"Yes I am and so is eddie, remeber?" He said.
"Yeah is she my new mommy?" She asked him, his heart melted a little it was so sweet.
"She is." He told her.
"I call her mommy and you my daddy?" She asked. He wanted to say yes but he didn't want to make her.
"If you want to your allowed to. Why don't you go ask Eddie if you can call her mommy" Jaime told her. She got up and walked out to find Eddie. Who was standing at the stove stirring the Mac and cheese noodles and flipping the burgers on the griddle.
"It's almost ready" she said to them. Thinking they were hungry.
"Can I call you mommy?" Emmalyn asked. Eddie looked at jaime and started to cry. He smiled at her with his hands on his hips. She knelt down to Emmalyn and gave her a huge hug and just held onto her.
"Aww sweetie of course! I'd be honored!" She told her as she wiped her tears. She let go and ran back to play.
"That was the sweetest thing." Eddie said putting her hand over her heart, while Jaime still stood there agreeing by shaking his head.
"She asked me too it's a good feeling, I'm excited to introduce her to the family tomorrow." he expressed. Eddie was stirring in the cheese to the noodles and putting the peas in the microwave.
"Ahh!!" Emmalyn screamed from her room. Jaime ran to her room and Eddie was right behind him.
"What happened!?" Jaime yelled.
"Emmalyn!?" Eddie yelled also both of them scared have to death.
She was standing with her back pressed up against the wall looking at the floor near her bed. She pointed in that direction.
"SPIDER!" She screamed when they got to her room. Eddie let out a breath in relief with Jaime. He went to the spider and stomped it, Eddie handed him a tissue.
"Its okay it wasn't gonna hurt you Emmalyn I promise! It's gone now okay?" Jaime said.
"Okay." She said she really mustn't like spiders she was really scared.
"Are you hungry? Wanna eat some dinner?" Eddie asked her. She shook her head yes and followed her out of the room. She went and sat on the couch. Eddie started putting the food on the table.
"What are you doing Emmalyn?" Jaime was confused why she was on the couch.
"Time to eating dinner" she told him.
"Oh well we sit at the table when we eat okay? Look you even have your own chair." He encouraged. She saw what he was talking about and got down to come sit. He picked her up and sat her on the booster seat. Eddie made her a plate and put it in front of her. She picked up the kid fork and was ready to dig in.
"Oh just wait sweetie we have to pray before we eat." Eddie told her. She didn't know what that meant.
"Jaime go grab her a bib I forgot." She said.
"What's pray?" She asked. Jamie got up and exchanged looks with Eddie.
"Well. Um. Jaime?" She asked.
"Oh boy okay." He said as he came back with a bib and put it on Emmalyn. He sat down and started to try and explain it as best he could.
By the time he got done explaining it and answering all the crazy questions a 3 year old could possibly say. Their dinner was cold but it didn't matter. They were so happy.
