Have a nice day.
Day after day of begging and when Magnum's reports finally showed positive progress, Dr. Anu agreed to send him back home. The signed discharged papers were a sight for Magnum's sore eyes but the heap of medications was not. He cringed as he listened to the list of instructions he needed to follow. Forget about disobeying any of them because Higgins and Rick were listening with rapt attention.
Magnum was having his usual big gigantic grin back on his face when Rick wheeled him out of the hospital. Feeling the Hawaiian sun after almost a week made him felt that he was as normal as he was before but the ride back to Robin's nest proved how wrong he was. TC was driving extremely slow, pretty sure he had not driven that slow in his life but every bump in the road hit right to Magnum's chest. No matter how much he tried not to make TC to feel bad, he couldn't stop himself from hissing every time TC pressed the accelerator or brake. Rick's reassuring hand on his shoulder and Higgins's constant, it's okay comment was what got him through the awful ride back home.
After the hell ride, Kumu and Katsumoto's smiling faces waiting outside were able to cheer up Magnum a little. To be honest, he doesn't remember much after that. He can't even remember how did he managed to walk back in, pretty sure the guys did all the work. Thanks to Kumu, she made all Magnum's favorite for lunch which made him feel happy about being back home, Unfortunately, his first night at home was a different story.
TC and Rick was on each side of Magnum's bed. They took all the pillows they can find from the other rooms and slip it around Magnum, forbidding him from moving, causing distress to the healing wound. But Magnum was restless, he was in and out of his sleep and kept moving unable to find any comfortable position for the night. What frightened Rick and TC the most was Magnum's hand kept going to his sternum, trying to claw the bandage open. Few hours into the night, the boys were getting tired but vowed not to leave Magnum's side. At about 1 am, Higgins gently crept into the room, bringing coffee for Rick and TC.
"Higgy, you're the best," TC mumbled wearily as he took a sip of the coffee and stretched his legs.
"How is he?"
Magnum tossed to the side and Rick quickly held Magnum blocking him from moving much. "As you can see," Rick mumbled and sighed.
"May I?" She asked softly, gesturing to Rick's place on the bed.
Rick was clueless but still, stood up and gave his position to her. He took the coffee she offered and walked to the back of the room to join TC. Higgins was half-laying on the bed. She leaned closer and ran her hand through his hair a few times before she stopped at his forehead and stroke it gently. Her left hand caught his wavering left hand, brought it back down, and gently squeezed it. As she continued to stroke his forehead, she hummed a soothing tune. Within a few minutes, Magnum's breathing evened out. When she looked up, she had TC and Rick looking at her in amazement. No one said anything about her being out of character as they were immensely grateful for what she did.

When Magnum woke up the next day, he was surprised to be alone. Magnum rolled his eyes when he saw the number of pillows stacked up around him. It looked exactly like how you would stack pillows around babies on the bed. Half of him was rolling his eyes but half of him acknowledged how much his friends were trying to protect him. Magnum concentrated and soon was up sitting on the bed. He brought his feet over to the side and with a hand on his chest, Magnum thought to himself. It just seemed like a few steps to the bathroom. He was indeed encouraged to walk, but with someone beside him. He heard voices on the outside. They were probably at the dining table. Should he call? He scrunched up his face for one second and made his mind. He stood up and carefully took his steps to the bathroom. Halfway, he realized it was a bad idea when his free hand was wavering searching for support. Reaching the bathroom, he found himself out of breath. When he finished his business and ready to head back, another realization hit him. He wasn't going to make it. He was leaning on the door frame and the voices he was hearing were missing. Maybe they knew he was awake when they heard him flushing the toilet.
Wow, is it really that loud?
Anyhow, he knew he was about to get an earful when they found him panting at the bathroom door. No, scratch that, they are going to be so pissed as he found himself sliding along the door to the ground. Suddenly, everything was a blur and then, there was nothing. When he woke up again, he was on the bed with concerned faces masked with real anger hovering over him. He tried to sit up, fortunately, they helped him, and that was when the hell broke loose.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Katsumoto started.
"You know, I didn't think you were that stupid Thomas." Kumu voiced out her dissatisfaction.
Magnum turned slightly to the side, particularly towards TC, Rick, and Higgins.
"Ah-ah, don't look at me," Rick growled. "You are on your own. You know what you did."
"If you even think about pulling this kind stunts ever again, you and I, we are going to have a rather long uncomfortable chat, do you understand?" Higgins was beyond pissed.
"Yeah." Magnum nodded.
TC sighed as he sat down on the bed. "Look TM, I get it. You want to try to do things on your own which you will soon, but now you not just quite there yet and it's not wrong to call for help, okay? After all that we went through last week, I think it's not fair for us to come and see you passed on the floor like that. It scared the hell of us, man."
Rick was right. He messed up. Big time.

After that incident, Magnum took up the idea of healing himself very seriously, not only for himself but also for this friends. His favorite routine of the day was the specific exercises he was supposed to accomplish every day and there he was, in his daily walk under the watchful eyes of Rick and TC. In the distance, Zeus and Apollo were watching him curiously. Those raptors were probably waiting to chase him around the estate. Not anytime soon, boys.
Soon after his walk, Magnum was back to the guest house with the aroma of his favorite foods greeting him.
"Kumu, not fair." Rick pretended to grumble. "You are cooking all his favorites every day. Sometimes I believe you don't love me."
"Aww." Kumu peeked Rick on his cheek. "You know I love you."
"It's just that she loves me more," Magnum smirked as Higgins helped him to sit down. She shook her head in amusement and waited for the rest of the banter. Everyone was setting their plate, but Magnum knew he doesn't have too. Someone will do it for him. Yeah, they are spoiling me and I love it.
Rick placed the plate filled with the correct amount of food in front of Magnum. "There you go, baby boy."
"You know, you need to start picking up better nicknames." Magnum sighed.
"Aww, is baby boy hurting your White Knight's image?" All shared a small laugh.
Magnum let Rick to have his fun. After all that Rick had been doing for him, he can tolerate the baby boy nickname for some time. Besides he was tired, he was ready to finish his lunch and sleep. He looked down at his plate and realized he may need to put some energy and cut down his meat into small pieces. Wait. He turned to his side and saw Katsumoto.
"What?" The police detective asked, raising his eyebrow.
Magnum gestured his eyes to his plate.
"Are you kidding me?"
Magnum shook his head, narrowed his eyes, and mouthed, please.
"You're unbelievable," Katsumoto mumbled under his breath before he pushed his plate to the side, took Magnum's, cut all the meat and vegetable into smaller pieces, and returned the plate to him.
"Thanks, Mom," Magnum smirked, taking a bite of his chicken.
"Don't call me that," Katsumoto warned. "Like ever."
"Woah, time out." TC waved his hand. "What just happened?"
"Don't be jealous, guys. I just happen to have a BFF who is willing to cut my meat into smaller pieces so I don't have to battle with them," Magnum explained with a smile still lingering in his lips.
"Oh, please." TC rolled his eyes. "You were just taking advantage of that man."
"I agree," Katsumoto said, chewing his food.
"Let me stop you right here, Gordy." Rick joined in. "You are nothing but a big softie."
Everyone at the table laughed their heart out even Magnum although it did sting his chest a little. These people, these moments were something he will treasure for life and he wouldn't trade them for anything.
