Jamie and Emmalyn got to her school just before 9am. Mrs.Davenport waves from a distance to Jamie.
"Daddy I don't want to play with Luke." She told him before he kissed her goodbye.
"Then don't Em. Remember you stand up for yourself don't let someone bully you okay?!" He told her. She shook her head confidently.
"Good. Now go teach them who's boss." Jamie told her winking and then kissing her on the cheek. He hurried off, he had to stop by the precinct to finish some paperwork he needed done for today. Besides, a little overtime wasn't going to kill him.
After he'd been working for about an hour he heard his wife's voice coming down the hall talking to someone. Jamie stopped to listen.
"You know that pisses me off. I'm going to her later to set her straight." Eddies voice carried. Jamie turned his chair and got up to see who she was talking to and what it was about. He watched her and Rachel walk down the hall.
"Officer Janko." He shouted down the hall at her. She turned around to see him standing in the doorway of his office.
"Yeah sarge?" She questioned and walked to him Rachel kept walking. She didn't wanna get involved.
"Can I see you for a second?" He said loud so everyone knew she wasn't getting special treatment. She was smiling.
"Ooo okay so is this where you lock the door and pull the curtains, rip off my uniform and we have sex right here right now?" She said seductively to him. He couldn't help but let out a laugh.
"No. Sorry. Um a little bit ago I overheard you talking to Rachel. What was that about?" He asked her.
"Oh. Nothing Jamie don't worry." She told him with her stomach bulging out infront of her.
"Janko I'm not playing your husband right now I'm a sergeant and I'm ordering you to tell me what that was about." Eddie was taken back, she got annoyed when he acted like this but knew she had to respect it.
"Huh. Douglass and them were apparently talking crap that I planned to get pregnant now so I could have the summer off." She said annoyed that Jamie had to play sergeant with her right now.
"What that's ridiculous? I'll talk to them." He told her.
"No. I can talk to them myself Jamie. I'm a big girl. Let me handle it. You're not even supposed to be here right now you think you can just show up and control everyone?" She told him and started to get up.
"Eddie." He called out wanting her to stop but she opened the door to leave. Before she walked out she turned around.
"I'll see you tonight. Sarge." She said and left.
"Huh." Jamie let out and covered his mouth in thought. He went back to the paperwork he had to finish.
It was 11:55 when Jamie realized he was going to be late getting Emmalyn and couldn't stop the paperwork he was on at the moment. He got up and found Eddie in the locker room.
"Hey I'm knee deep in paperwork can you pick up Emmalyn I'll be home soon." He said tossing her his car keys and she tossed him hers. She was still ticked at him for treating her like a child.
She got to the classroom door, most of the kids were gone already. She saw Emmalyn sitting in a chair next to Sydney's desk. She tilted her head and didn't understand why she was in a timeout maybe?
Miss. Davenport finished saying goodbye to another students parents and approached Eddie.
"Emmalyn your mom's here get your stuff." She told her over her shoulder. Eddies face grew concerned and confused. Why was Emmalyn getting the cold shoulder.
"Hello Mrs.Reagan. Today Emmalyn didn't have the best day. She was very aggressive torward another classmate. She pinched, hit and bit him after he asked her for one of her crayons." Eddie was shocked.
"Are you sure he didn't initiate the first move?" She questioned.
"Yes. He asked for a certain color that she was not using, but it was next to her, he got up and she attacked him." Miss.Davenport said.
"How sure are you she said he could have it?" She asked not believing Emmalyn did it for no reason.
"Mrs.Reagan. We have cameras. They have sound. I'm telling you exactly what happened." She told her. As much as she didn't wanna believe her she decided to. Emmalyn was shy and knew she wasn't good today. Eddie took her hand and they went to the car.
"Mommy are you mad at me?" Emmalyn asked Eddie as she buckled her into the car seat.
"No." She said blankly. She shut her door and got in the drivers seat to go home.
"Emmalyn why were you mean to one of your friends today?" Eddie asked in the way home.
"Daddy told me to fight back." She said to Eddie who looked in the mirror trying to wrap her head around this. When did Jamie talk to her about this and why wasn't eddie informed? Dang she couldn't wait for him to get home he was on a roll today.
They got in the house and Eddie quick made Emmalyn and her a sandwich. The baby was kicking hard. She was hungry.
Jamie came home as they finished up eating.
"C'mon Em let's go to bed." Eddie said. Ignoring Jamie coming home. He went to eat lunch and then had to go back to work at 3 and he worked until 11 tonight.
When Eddie came out she cleared the table and started to do the dishes in the sink still not acknowledging Jamie. He was being stubborn about it at first. It wasn't his fault he ranked higher up so that's how he has to act.
"Hey. Do you wanna talk about it?" He asked her.
"If that's what you want sergeant." She said sarcastically.
"Eddie cut it out c'mon." He said smiling slightly at her smartassyness.
"You had no right to call me in to your office like that." She told him.
"Eddie I don't want people to think you get special treatment from me" he said.
"When has anyone made a comment that I get special treatment at work from you?" She questioned.
"Eddie all the time. You don't ever hear the comments like "oh Reagan's in a good mood, Janko must have been in his office before me." ?" He asked her. She was dumbfounded.
"I've never heard anything like that." She said.
"Well it's thing. They think we do it on the job. Which sucks cause we don't so we aren't even benefiting." He said half joking, Eddie laughed.
"Jamie I said when you called me in there we should do that." Eddie said.
"I knew you were joking Eddie." He said and she laughed. They let the conversation go at that. He apologized and so did she.
"One more thing Reagan." Eddie said.
"What's that?" He asked her all cute grabbing her waist and kissing her head.
"No Jamie. No" she said pushing him away and walking to the couch. He followed her.
"What Eddie?" He asked confused.
"When I picked Emmalyn up the teacher said she pinched, hit and bit a classmate today after he asked her for a crayon that was near her but she wasn't using." Eddie told him.
"Ha oh boy." Jamie said smiling.
"Why are you smiling? This is not good Jamie. She was doing so well." She asked confused.
"The other day she told me about this boy who bully's her and I told her not to let him. And to stick up for herself and fight back." Jamie explained as Eddie just sat there in shock.
"Jamie you can't tell a 4 year old to fight back. Like are you serious?" Eddie said.
"Eddie I'm not letting her get walked all over." He said.
"I don't like that either but at least teach her to throw the last punch instead of the first." She said. He agreed as he sat there thinking.
When Emmalyn woke up around 2:30 from her nap she wanted a snack but she also needed to be talked to about her behavior at school.
"Alright miss. Let's talk about your day." Eddie started off by saying. She got shy torward them both.
"Why did you hurt a classmate?" Jamie asked her.
"Because...Luke took my crayon." She said.
"Okay but you weren't using it right?" Eddie asked her and she agreed.
"Emmalyn you have to share with everyone. Next time instead of hurting someone you need to use your words and tell them. And if that doesn't work you go to your teacher." Jamie explained.
They didn't have a fear of Emmalyn becoming a tattle tale. Being cops they wanted to enforce the good deed of going to authority. If it becomes a problem they will address it when it arises.
"Okay sweetie can you do that?" Eddie asked her.
"Yes." She said.
"Good! Now Monday you need to apologize to Luke for hurting him alright?" Eddie told her. She shook her head agreeing
