Aziraphale slowly worked his fingers up the delicate pine needles as he unfolded them one by one making them as straight and perfect as he possibly could. He pulled them apart and sometimes when that wasn't good enough he would sometimes go back over the needles and try again. Although green would have been a hideous color to wear and not he style at all he had to admit to himself that this shade of green on the particular tree was quite enduring.

In fact, all of the garden was beautiful. It truly was a paradise on Earth and although he had no idea what a human would look like he wanted to make sure when they were created on the sixth day of the creation that they would enjoy the beauty and wonder the garden held as he did now. And if that meant taking a few extra seconds to be delicate with the pine needles than so be it.

There were many other angels of lower status behind and around him doing various things like putting apples on trees and placing grass in the ground. He huffed at some of the sloppy handworks the other angels had as a poor excuse for helping lay the first vegetation into the ground. He would even sometimes fix the blades of grass or straighten the cherries on a cherry tree so they were upright when no was looking of course. Everything had to be perfect for the Almighty and her precious creations to fill the garden.

He felt a presence behind him and out of the corner of his eye saw another angel standing there. The angel was of a higher ranking and was that of a Cherubim. He knew it would be best to ignore the angel unless he or she wanted something so that is exactly what he did and went along with his busy work. Although he had to admit that having someone watching him was quite distracting and set his nerves on edge. He squinted his eyes and focused harder on the next set of pine needles and kept his head down more so to keep his fingers from visibly trembling than anything else. He didn't want archangel Gabriel to think he was incompetent.

But the angel did not leave and instead slowly moved within his vision and was almost standing in front of him. She had gorgeous blonde hair that was illuminated by the light and he skin was a fair shade. Her eyes were almost as green as the pine needles before him. She smiled at him although he felt it had a double meaning.

He slowly lifted his eyes to get a better look at the Cherubim but a loud smacking noise followed by pain on his right cheek caused him to look back down.

"The fuck you looking at stupid Principality!" She snarled at him.

Swearing really? Was that really necessary? He kept his eyes downcast and begged the Almighty for a realize from this situation. Or maybe this was punishment for not being able to keep a cool head or perhaps he was doing the pine needles incorrectly. It had become apparent to Aziraphale that he did not have the greenest of fingers and that plant life was not his favorite creation although he was only a Principality so that was to be expected. He sighed and continued to cast his eyes downwards and slowly unfold the pine needles.

"Oh so don't even answer me you dumb Principality? Just stand there with your dumb needles. Do you even have any powers besides taking up space where no one wants you?" She then proceeded to grab the branch he was working on out of his delicate fingers and bent down close to his ear and yelled: "Hey Principality I am talking to you!"

"I apologize Cherubim mamam. I was just-"

"You were just what making excuses for ignoring ranks and not giving me the proper respect I am entitled to. Principalities are all the same. Little dumb stupid angels with no brains in their heads. Just flying and walking around."

She then proceeded to ball up her fist and punch his square in the gut.

"Fatass! Your stomach is far too soft!" She snicked at this as he held his stomach out of the pain the low blow had caused.

"The fuck is your name anyway?"

"I am the principality Azira-"

He was interrupted by a small to the side of the head as she said in overly sarcastic tone "Nobody cares!"

She then proceeded to roughly run her hand through his blonde curls which he had taken extra time to style this morning. Sure it was only his second day being alive but he wanted to look impressive for Gabriel. Everything about him had to be on point and this awful Cherubim would just not leave him alone.

She latched on to one of the delicate soft curls near the top of his head and slowly wrapped her fingers into the twist before yanking upwards. It took everything in Aziraphale not to scream in agony or shout. He just begged the Almighty silently for the moment to pass until the curl was finally pulled free from his scalp. However, the pain still lingered in the spot and Aziraphale gnashed his teeth together.

She then proceeded to jab his stomach again before she turned on her heels laughing "Stupid Principality! Fat soft Principality!"

He was glad she was gone but how she soured her day did not leave him and by the time it was time to be released he was more than happy to leave the garden and fly up into the sky and crossing the barrier back into heaven where the loving power of the Almighty filled every part of his body right down to the core of his soul. She always made everything better for him.

Before he went back to his cloud to begin prepping the star maps for the fourth day of creation in which the angels would line the nothing with stars and planets and make a permanent light in the sky for the earth he was tempted to ask for more reading material on the subject. It was not because he did not know how to do so but rather because he wanted to feel the escape reading had given him the second night of creation. But asking and being thought of as not grateful was above him and he soon settles continually into his soft cloud and began drawing the stars.
