The Ten

In a time where Pantala and Phyrria have drifted together, ten dragonets are born to stop a war. But as timelines shift, a new prophecy emerges, and the ten dragonets will have to reunite the tribes, or it could be the end of them all. By the way, the timeline for this is a little strange because it is set in the past, present and future.

11. Adderfang

The Healer SandWing, Fawngleam, watched as her egg hatched. She knew that it was at least a little bit NightWing, but she didn't really care. No one would. Not even if it had scales as black as night. She was the Healer, and no one questioned the Healer's choices. Not even if it could be considered illegal, if you traced it back more than two thousand years ago.

Fawngleam's ancestors had been the famous Moonwatcher and Qibli. That was part of the reason why no one would ever question her decisions. But it didn't matter. If she had to, she could pretend that her dragonet was her apprentice, and everyone would believe her. She would find out soon.

Moonlight filtered through the palm leaves in the roof of her hut, casting silver shadows onto the egg.

As if the moonlight had been calling it, the egg started to shake and rattle as the dragonet hatched. As Fawngleam watched, the little SandWing broke free and stretched open its wings.

It was quite obvious. He was definitely part NightWing. He had almost normal SandWing scales, other than a few golden freckles dotting his face, and silver starscales on the insides of his wings. He also had a long, silver blaze streaking down his nose. Fawngleam didn't know where that came from. As far as she knew, none if her ancestry had a blaze like that. Well she'd have to pretend he was her apprentice now, whether she liked it or not.

As she was lost in thought, the little dragonet stretched its jaws in a little yawn, two little fangs poking out, flashing in the bright moonlight. Could this mean… surely not. Her dragonet wasn't part RAINWING was he!? OK now it didn't matter at all. Not even the fact that she was second-in-command to the Kingdom of Sand would protect her from the law if they found out that her dragonet was part RainWing. He'd be killed on the spot, probably by the Queen herself, and Fawngleam would probably executed just for being his mother. She had to find a way to hide it. But HOW!?
