Crawly walked through the crowd of humans towards the soft angelic curls of Aziraphale and got the usual gasps, blank stares and people backing away from him. His eyes seemed to scare any human he dared peep at. Maybe this was what the Almighty meant when She said in the garden he would be cursed. Cursed to be forever alone. He had gotten over it and used to it and it didn't bother him as much as it once had. Besides his demonic pranks required a good punchline and his face was a walking joke.

He had no idea how the angel managed to stay alive and not get discorporated by a demon or the humans. He stood out like a glowstick and Crawly was able to feel his love when he was in a ten-mile radius and the angel seemed completely oblivious to all the evil going on around him.

He wondered if he had misread the area when he peered at Aziraphale from a distance. Never getting close enough for Aziraphale to sense him. At least he hoped he couldn't sense.

It was weird. Like really weird the power the angel had over him and Crawly didn't like it. Every time he was around him it was really strange but he almost didn't want to leave his side. Like he wanted to do a temptation with him.

No not something work-related. What was it the humans called it? Socializing? Yes, that was it. Demons screwed around with each other and humans all the time.

Perhaps he only wanted to tease the angel. He was very very easy to stress out and trick and Crawly had to admit it was quite funny. Distressing angels was part of a demon's job description after all.

But this wasn't a demon or a human. This was an angel. Crawly felt like punching himself. He wasn't the worst demon but he certainly was heading in that direction.

He was behind Aziraphale and saw him doing the familiar pleating of the hands and looking off at the humans with a worried expression. Like a father who had just let their kid take off on a bike for the first time. Oh. Cognitive dissonance. But what was it this time?

Suddenly he had a brilliant idea. He could cheer up the angel by playing a little trick on him he saw the village kids do to each other. They would tap one person's shoulder but be on the other side so that when the person looked over they would be on the opposite side of them.

It worked like magic and seemed to only stress him out more and Crawly had to hold back a snicker as he said "Hello, Aziraphale!"

"Crawley..." He said back sounding a little harsh almost like he didn't want Crawly there. Time to lighten the mood.

"So, giving the mortals a flaming sword. How did that work out for you?"

"The Almighty has never actually mentioned it again. Probably a good thing."

Aziraphale was doing that annoying thing again where he was watching the humans and not paying any attention to demon beside him who could literally kill him any second. Crawly rolled his eyes.

"What's all this about? Build a big boat and fill it with a traveling zoo? From what I hear, God's a bit tetchy." He actually was curious and a secret part of him wished the angel by him was paying attention to him rather than the stupid animals and people.

"Wiping out the human race. Big storm."

Well, that was surprising...

Then Aziraphale went on another nervous rant about how it was God's plan and for the greater good and necessary. "Just the locals. I don't believe the Almighty's upset with the Chinese. Or the Native Americans. Or the Australians. Yet. And God's not actually going to wipe out all the locals. I mean, Noah, up there, his family, and his sons, their wives, they're all going to be fine."

That didn't ease Crawly's shock at all the Almighty was going to do something this cruel. Sure humans were awful at this time but drowning them all to death seemed a little overboard. No pun intended.

"But they're drowning everybody else?" Just then a pack of children and goats ran by. The kids? No angel. They can't kill the kids.

"Not the kids? You can't kill kids."

Aziraphale looked like he was about to pass out from when he gave soft mm-hmm.

Crawly was absolutely stunned. "Well, that's more the kind of thing you'd expect my lot to do."

He wasn't wrong. Demons enjoyed finding new and creative ways to hurt humans. Well not this demon exactly.

That was the wrong thing to say as Aziraphale seemed to get slightly mad and said with a hurried hump "Yes, but when it's done, the Almighty's going to put up a new thing, called a "rain bow", as a promise not to drown everyone again."

Okay? So? She still was gonna drown everyone and Crawly said sacatically in response "How kind."

The angel looked flustered and finally looked at him. His soft curls surrounded his head like a literal halo and his soft blues eyes did not reflect what was coming out of his mouth at all. Crawly would take the lecture if it meant he got to stare at this gentle face.

"You can't judge the Almighty, Crawley. God's plans are-"

"Are you going to say "ineffable"?"

"Possibly"

Crawly couldn't help but smile. Ah, Aziraphale. Never change. But then he looked back at the ship and saw one of the unicorns runoff.

"Oy! Shem! That unicorn's going to make a run for it. Oh, it's too late. It's too late! Well, you've still got one of them."

Aziraphale did nothing.

"Aziraphale? Aren't you going to go save the unicorn?"

"Absolutely not! I almost was discorporated trying to get those unicorns and I am not about to do it again."

Crawly laughed. "Well alright then."

No response. Just nervous glancing. Okay. Something was up.

"Okay Aziraphale. What did you do this time?"

Nothing but quiet mumblings and ums.

"Aziraphale?"

He did it again. Crawly looked around to see if any humans were holding dangerous angelic weapons.

The angel was a ball of fluffy nervous energy and it didn't take much to push him to reveal what he had done.

"I may or may not have built a secret room in the ark that just so happens to be undetectable to humans, other angels, animals or demons that and has enough food to last fifty days and nights in case we are on there for longer. I mean it is just the Almighty won't want to kill kids and the archangels never said I couldn't save the kids so I technically won't be directly disobeying them!"

Ah of course he did. Crawly felt bad for ever doubting him.

"So this unddectableness? How did that come about? Did you fill the floor with Holy Water?"

"I miricled the room sound proof."

"So you were just gonna take all the local kids and shove them into this room that may or may not fit them."

Aziraphale looked offended. "I certainly will not. I took all the proper measurements and if that didn't work I had a back up plan."

"Which is?"

"Miricaling up more food, rooms and blankets."

"Well the ark doors will be closing soon so I suggest you get a move on."

"Well I actually was thinking about carrying them in one at a time during the rainstorm..."

The nervous energy was back.

"Why don't you just miracle them onto the boat and save yourself the trouble?"

"um..."

Oh, that's right Aziraphale couldn't do that. With that Crawly froze time around them. The angel noticed immediately and his beautiful blue eyes rose with alarm.

With all the demonic energy Crawly could muster he found where the room was and was shocked to find it would hold all the kids and mircled them onto the ship in one blow. Time went on because he lost his grip and fell to the ground.

"What just happened? Crawly are you alright?"

Crawly dusted himself up and felt exhausted. He felt annoyed remembering he wouldn't even get a good nap in now that the Earth was about to be underwater.

Aziraphale reached out and grabbed his arm. They moved quickly through the crowd of people and once out of sight he opened his wings flew them onto the ark through a secret passageway he had made in the side of the boat to get in and out of the secret room.

Aziraphale's eyes lite up with surprise and wonder when he saw all the kids were there laughing and playing with the makeshift toys he had made.

"How-how did this happen...I didn't even-"

He looked down at the tired demon who had a goofy smile on his face he didn't even know he was wearing.

"I suppose I should thank you Crawly."

Crawly jumped up despite his exhaustion and ripped his arm out of the angel's grasp.

"Don't say that! I only did this so I could fight you! It is kind of hard to fight a corporation who got himself drowned trying to go out and save kids. That is the only reason I did it."

"Okay. That's fine. I don't like you either anyways. I don't even know why I helped you on the ship. There I go again doing things I am not supposed to be doing and ruining stuff for everyone."

Crawly transfigured into a snake and went where the snakes where.

Throughout the forty days, the angel always had enough food and water for all the children. Blankets were always provided and Noah and his family never grew suspicious. It was weird because Aziraphale had not performed a single miracle. Perhaps the demon hadn't left the ship after all.

Then came the time to release the dove. The dove found dry land and brought an olive branch back to prove it. They all got off although the kids had to be put off a different piece of dry land thanks to some angelic miracles.

As promised there was a rainbow in the sky.
