A few decades after the whole fiasco with the ark the Earth was almost completely repopulated. And Aziraphale was still performing miracles and spreading the news of God everywhere he went. He was humanity's favorite angel at this time.

Whenever he came to town they knew there was going to be healings, their crops would grow better and whatever demon nonsense that had come about to lay waste on their town would have been solved before the sunset. The angel never asked for anything in return and always refused payment. He was a lover of human works of arts and helped create musical instruments at this time.

He was also impartial to the dinosaurs who still walked the Earth at this time and always felt awful whenever he had to kill one although he had to admit their eggs made fantastic omelets and their meat was quite tasty on a plate with some fruits that will be extinct by the time the AD area comes around.

He was back in heaven for his monthly report. He always hated these and they were the least favorite part of his job as an angel on earth. He never could see the point of having to go back up to heaven once a month to deliver these reports when it took so much paperwork involved. It was very tedious.

Come to mention it the only thing he enjoyed about these meetings was the occasional compliment from Gabriel about his work although he could never tell if it was sarcasm or not. But Aziraphale was an angel of optimism and positivity and he was going to continue to be as such. Nothing could get him down.

There was also a concern about the demon Crawly. Although Aziraphale doubted he was going to jump out from behind some bushes and attack him the angel considering how whenever he was around he always made his presence known to the angel.

He had never been great at casting out demons from people, places or things before. He could never be assertive with them or anyone else for that matter. In the words of Gabriel he was kind of a pushover and a softie which was true.

The angel loved humanity and the Earth and would always be willing to lend a helping hand. Even it was to people who probably didn't deserve it any kindness and who he probably shouldn't be helping out but how could he refuse? He was literally an angel of love and he loved everyone and everything. Except for demons of course. They were just scary. Even Crawly frightened him a bit even though he seemed to be procrastinating on attacking Aziraphale which only made him more uneasy.

However, he hadn't seen Crawly in many Earth years and didn't even know if he was still on Earth. But then again he just figured the demon was probably lazy and didn't want to fight the angel and in doing so would find any and every excuse to not interact or attack him for which Aziraphale was eternally grateful for as he was more of a lover not a fighter himself and personally, did not want to be discoporated because a demon who could turn himself into a snake and literally freeze time and also knew two of the times he broke heaven's rules because the demon wanted to tussle with him.

But back to the other demons. Although the humans thought he and heaven cast them out Aziraphale actually did no such thing. It was never him or maybe it was and he was just too stupid to realize it. It most likely wasn't the archangels as they would have spent no end to tease and torture him about how he almost got killed by a demon and it wasn't the humans because they were weak and powerless. It must have been another angel. He wasn't the only angel on earth but why would they want to help him out?

Or maybe just maybe it was that demon Crawly. He did say he wanted to be the one to discorporate Aziraphale. Perhaps demons got jealous of other demons giving attention to their assigned adversaries.

Whoever it was Aziraphale just hoped they were a friend and not foe.

In the meeting, Gabriel explained that Satan had come to taunt God about Her followers and apparently God was super angry about it and now Satan was going to be making someone guy named Job's life miserable in order to prove a point. It won't work of course because God never gave anyone more than they could handle but still...to Aziraphale this just didn't seem or sound fair.

Of course, he couldn't say that to the archangels or question God's knowledge as Her ways were Ineffable and higher than his but still maybe if the guy had an angel speak on his behalf God would cast Satan away from him.

Once he was back down on Earth he did his little carpet thingy and began to pray. (the thing he did in the show I don't know what its called) in order to try and reach God. Instead he got Metatron.

But despite all the pleading he refused to allow Aziraphale to speak with God. God was a busy being but still, he thought Metatron was overreacting a bit when he said She didn't have time for his foolish complaints and unless he wanted Gabriel to hear about it he best leave the situation alone for now.

Aziraphale most definitely did not want Gabriel to know he was having doubts about God's plan as he had given him a compliment this morning on how he turned a whole town's eyes to the lord by helping them with their locus problem so Aziraphale turned off the connection.

But he had to do something? And to be fair Metatron had said to leave the situation alone with him.

What if he talked to Satan? Maybe he would change his mind. Wishful thinking but on the bright side if he was able to distract the guy for a few days then maybe Job could get out of this little competition going on between God and Satan.

He knew where Job lived and figured Satan was already there and took off flying in the direction after the humans went to bed.
