Micheal was not one to trust others. There were very few beings she did save for three.
She trusted the Almighty of course. In all Her, ineffable and divine ways that were higher than any angel or demon could ever be intelligent enough to grasp. She felt Her love everywhere she went in Heaven. It was inescapable and ineffable.
The second person was, of course, her love Azreal. She often worried about her for when she returned to Heaven she often looked tired so tired. They rarely got to see each other anymore as so many people died at once and she would have to look after and carry their souls to the afterlife.
The final person was reserved for herself. Because she was an archangel she trusted herself to always do the right thing and never waver from that. She was placed in the highest angelic position for a reason and she knew that her intelligence and systematic thinking would help get the other angels through the tough and scary times they were facing.
Angels were being tortured to the death by demons. Azreal was also responsible for carrying their souls to an above plain existence within Heaven. She was shocked to find out that one of the angels sent to tell Abraham of the prophecy of Issac had been captured by demons and brutally tortured to the point beyond recognizability.
Trust was a virtue and it was a difficult thing to earn especially from the Micheal. However, she knew one thing was for sure. She did not trust or like Aziraphale the Principality. On one of his reports the angel reeked of Hellfire. It was as though he had gone to Hell itself.
Gabriel, Sandalphon and Uriel did not know what Hellfire smelled like as they had not been around any angel who had to frequently visit Hell. Azreal delivered souls there and she was always protected by Micheal from up above in the heavens.
She did not know what Aziraphale was up to nor did she care as it did not protain to her so much. She knew she needed to stay focused on the mission and on keeping Azreal safe. There was far too much at stake for her to lose focus like this.
Aziraphale came for his monthly report and it was at this time the archangels had decided he was doing such a great job on Earth it was time to let him in on the full plan and where God was taking the Earth. And by they she meant Gabriel and Sandalphon because she didn't trust Aziraphale after he came to heaven recking of Hellfire, Uriel didn't trust any angel whoever left heaven for an extended period of time and Gabriel insisted everyone is hierarchy was perfect and could do no wrong and Sandalphon being his Seraphim always found a way to agree with him.
On Earth Abraham and Lot had gone their separate ways. Abram had been promised many descendants although he did not know the full extent of what that promise meant. Abram had also had to have gone in for the saving to Lot when he got himself in a sticky situation with some evil rulers and with a little divine intervention they succeeded. God had also formed to covenant to Abram at this time and the angels had promised him a son to which the wretched Sara had the audacity to laugh at the Almighty's all-knowing and great plan. The punishment for this would be having to name their son Issac although the punishment should have been much worse in Micheal's opinion. But she was not the Almighty so she did not question Her knowledge or justice. Aziraphale had been asked to keep a close eye on these things while also monitoring the upspring cultural trends happening.
With this as well the bumbling buffon of Abraham decided to sleep with his servant Haggar because they had decided to take matters into their own hands. This was not by choice either. Humanity never failed to disgust Micheal whether it be through the reports of Aziraphale, the other angels they sent down there or Azreal whom she trusted the most. Receiving dead children and innocent people was enough to make anyone go crazy but Azreal had Micheal who would also dote and wait upon her. They then had a son named Ishmael who the couple treated terribly. How it was a child's fault for a father's bad actions Micheal did not know.
Once again humanity was not intelligent or helpful to the universe in any way shape or form. The only one in Heaven who really thought otherwise was the Almighty and that stupid Principality Aziraphale. Then there was the covenant of circumcision which was a whole nother thing Micheal did not want to go into extreme detail with that. Then the angels and the whole issue with Sara. And the death of one of them by a demon's hand.
It was all too convenient in her opinion that Aziraphale was on Earth all the time and he seemed to never be phased by the evils of humanity. He just continued to be all happy and optimistic. He looked for the good in others while Micheal was always able to see the worst in those she was around.
They told him about how God's son was going to be coming to Earth in human form and He would be doing this through the line of Abraham hence the descendants. Her son would sacrifice His life for the sins of all people on Earth. It was his job to make sure it stayed this way and the right people met and married each other. It wasn't too difficult and something the Principality should have been able to handle.
But when Gabriel received word Sandalphon would be going down to destroy one of the worst cities to ever be around in human history with sins lining the streets just like the blood of the innocent she felt that there would be justice finally served to the cruel and awful humans.
